1.
מַשָּׂא דְבַר-יְהוָה בְּאֶרֶץ חַדְרָךְ, וְדַמֶּשֶׂק מְנֻחָתוֹ: כִּי לַיהוָה עֵין אָדָם, וְכֹל שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
massa devar-YHWH be'eret khadrakh, vedamesek menukhato: ki laYHWH ein adam, vekhol shivtei Yisrael.
The burden of the word of the LORD. In the land of Hadrach, and in Damascus shall be His resting-place; for the LORD'S is the eye of man and all the tribes of Israel.
2.
וְגַם-חֲמָת, תִּגְבָּל-בָּהּ; צֹר וְצִידוֹן, כִּי חָכְמָה מְאֹד.
ve'gam-khamat, tigbal-bah; tzor vetzidon, ki khakhmah me'od.
And Hamath also shall border thereon; Tyre and Zidon, for she is very wise.
3.
וַתִּבֶן צֹר מָצוֹר, לָהּ; וַתִּצְבָּר-כֶּסֶף, כֶּעָפָר, וְחָרוּץ, כְּטִיט חוּצוֹת.
vattiven tzor matzor, lah; vattitzbar-kesef, ke'afar, vekharutz, ketit khutzot.
And Tyre did build herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets.
4.
הִנֵּה אֲדֹנָי יוֹרִשֶׁנָּה, וְהִכָּה בַיָּם חֵילָהּ; וְהִיא, בָּאֵשׁ תֵּאָכֵל.
hinneh adonai yorishennah, vehikkah vayam kheilah; vehi, ba'esh te'akhel.
Behold, the Lord will impoverish her, and He will smite her power into the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.
5.
תֵּרֶא אַשְׁקְלוֹן וְתִירָא, וְעַזָּה וְתָחִיל מְאֹד, וְעֶקְרוֹן, כִּי-הֹבִישׁ מֶבָּטָהּ; וְאָבַד מֶלֶךְ מֵעַזָּה, וְאַשְׁקְלוֹן לֹא תֵשֵׁב.
teree ashkelon vetira, ve'azzah vetakhil me'od, ve'ekron, ki-hovish mebattah; ve'avad melekh me'azzah, ve'ashkelon lo teshev.
Ashkelon shall see it, and fear, Gaza also, and shall be sore pained, and Ekron, for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
6.
וְיָשַׁב מַמְזֵר, בְּאַשְׁדּוֹד; וְהִכְרַתִּי, גְּאוֹן פְּלִשְׁתִּים.
ve'yashav mamzer, be'ashdod; ve'ikhratI, ge'on pelishtim.
And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
7.
וַהֲסִרֹתִי דָמָיו מִפִּיו, וְשִׁקֻּצָיו מִבֵּין שִׁנָּיו, וְנִשְׁאַר גַּם-הוּא, לֵאלֹהֵינוּ; וְהָיָה כְּאַלֻּף בִּיהוּדָה, וְעֶקְרוֹן כִּיבוּסִי.
vahasiroti damav mippiv, veshikkutsav mibe'in shinnav, venish'ar gam-hu, le'loheinu; vehayah ke'allup bihudah, ve'eqron kibusi.
And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his detestable things from between his teeth, and he also shall be a remnant for our God; and he shall be as a chief in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite.
8.
וְחָנִיתִי לְבֵיתִי מִצָּבָה מֵעֹבֵר וּמִשָּׁב, וְלֹא-יַעֲבֹר עֲלֵיהֶם עוֹד נֹגֵשׂ: כִּי עַתָּה, רָאִיתִי בְעֵינָי.
vechaniti leveti mitsavah me'over umishav, velo-ya'avor alehem od noges: ki attah, ra'iti ve'einay.
And I will encamp about My house against the army, that none pass through or return; and no oppressor shall pass through them any more; for now have I seen with Mine eyes.
9.
גִּילִי מְאֹד בַּת-צִיּוֹן, הָרִיעִי בַּת יְרוּשָׁלִַם, הִנֵּה מַלְכֵּךְ יָבוֹא לָךְ, צַדִּיק וְנוֹשָׁע הוּא; עָנִי וְרֹכֵב עַל-חֲמוֹר, וְעַל-עַיִר בֶּן-אֲתֹנוֹת.
gili me'od bat-tsiyon, hari'i bat yerushalayim, hinneh malkeikh yavo lakh, tsaddik venosha hu; ani verokhev al-chamor, ve'al-ayir ben-atonot.
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion, shout, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, thy king cometh unto thee, he is triumphant, and victorious, lowly, and riding upon an ass, even upon a colt the foal of an ass.
10.
וְהִכְרַתִּי-רֶכֶב מֵאֶפְרַיִם, וְסוּס מִירוּשָׁלִַם, וְנִכְרְתָה קֶשֶׁת מִלְחָמָה, וְדִבֶּר שָׁלוֹם לַגּוֹיִם; וּמָשְׁלוֹ מִיָּם עַד-יָם, וּמִנָּהָר עַד-אַפְסֵי-אָרֶץ.
vehikhratti-rekhev me'efrayim, vesus mirushalayim, venikhretah qeshet milkhamah, vedibber shalom laggoyim; umashlo miyyam ad-yam, uminnahar ad-afsei-aretz.
And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall speak peace unto the nations; and his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.
11.
גַּם-אַתְּ בְּדַם-בְּרִיתֵךְ, שִׁלַּחְתִּי אֲסִירַיִךְ מִבּוֹר, אֵין מַיִם, בּוֹ.
gam-at bedam-beritekhi, shillakhti asirayikh mibbor, ein mayim, bo.
As for thee also, because of the blood of thy covenant I send forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.
12.
שׁוּבוּ, לְבִצָּרוֹן, אֲסִירֵי, הַתִּקְוָה; גַּם-הַיּוֹם, מַגִּיד מִשְׁנֶה אָשִׁיב לָךְ.
shuvu, levitzaroon, asirei, hattikvah; gam-hayom, maggid mishneh ashiv lakh.
Return to the stronghold, ye prisoners of hope; even to-day do I declare that I will render double unto thee.
13.
כִּי-דָרַכְתִּי לִי יְהוּדָה, קֶשֶׁת מִלֵּאתִי אֶפְרַיִם, וְעוֹרַרְתִּי בָנַיִךְ צִיּוֹן, עַל-בָּנַיִךְ יָוָן; וְשַׂמְתִּיךְ, כְּחֶרֶב גִּבּוֹר.
ki-darakhti li yehudah, qeshet milleti efrayim, ve'orarti banayikh tziyon, al-banayikh yavan; vesamtikh, khecherev gibbor.
For I bend Judah for Me, I fill the bow with Ephraim; and I will stir up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Javan, and will make thee as the sword of a mighty man.
14.
וַיהוָה עֲלֵיהֶם יֵרָאֶה, וְיָצָא כַבָּרָק חִצּוֹ; וַאדֹנָי יְהוִה בַּשּׁוֹפָר יִתְקָע, וְהָלַךְ בְּסַעֲרוֹת תֵּימָן.
vayHWH alehem yera'eh, veyatza khabarak khitzo; va'Adonay YHWH bashofar yitka, vehalakh besa'arot teman.
And the LORD shall be seen over them, and His arrow shall go forth as the lightning; and the Lord GOD will blow the horn, and will go with whirlwinds of the south.
15.
יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת, יָגֵן עֲלֵיהֶם, וְאָכְלוּ וְכָבְשׁוּ אַבְנֵי-קֶלַע, וְשָׁתוּ הָמוּ כְּמוֹ-יָיִן; וּמָלְאוּ, כַּמִּזְרָק--כְּזָוִיּוֹת, מִזְבֵּחַ.
YHWH tzeva'ot, yagen alehem, ve'akhelu vekhavshu avnei-kela, veshatu hamu kemo-yayin; umaleu, kamizrak--kezaviyot, mizbe'ah.
The LORD of hosts will defend them; and they shall devour, and shall tread down the sling-stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like the basins, like the corners of the altar.
16.
וְהוֹשִׁיעָם יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיהֶם, בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא--כְּצֹאן עַמּוֹ: כִּי, אַבְנֵי-נֵזֶר, מִתְנוֹסְסוֹת, עַל-אַדְמָתוֹ.
vehoshi'am YHWH Eloheihem, bayom hahu--ketzon ammo: ki, avnei-nezer, mitnosesot, al-admato.
And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of His people; for they shall be as the stones of a crown, glittering over His land.
17.
כִּי מַה-טּוּבוֹ, וּמַה-יָּפְיוֹ--דָּגָן, בַּחוּרִים, וְתִירוֹשׁ, יְנוֹבֵב בְּתֻלוֹת.
ki mah-tuvo, umah-yafyo--dagan, bahurim, vetirosh, yenovev betulot.
For how great is their goodness, and how great is their beauty! Corn shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the maids.
