1.
Vayashav, hammal'akh hadover bi; vay'ireni, ke'ish asher-ye'or mishnato.
And the angel that spoke with me returned, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep.
2.
Vayomer elay, mah attah ro'eh; Vayomer va'omer ra'iti vehinneh menorat zahav kullah vegullah al-roshah, veshiv'ah neroteha aleha--shiv'ah veshiv'ah mutsaqot, lannerot asher al-roshah.
And he said unto me: 'What seest thou?' And I said: 'I have seen, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and its seven lamps thereon; there are seven pipes, yea, seven, to the lamps, which are upon the top thereof;
3.
ushenayim zeitim, aleiha: echad mimin hagulah, ve'echad al-semo'lah.
and two olive-trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.'
4.
va'an, va'omar, el-hamal'akh hadover bi, lemor: mah-eleh, adoni.
And I answered and spoke to the angel that spoke with me, saying: 'What are these, my lord?'
5.
vayaan hamal'akh hadover bi, vayomer elay, halow yadanta, mah-hemah eleh; va'omar, lo adoni.
Then the angel that spoke with me answered and said unto me: 'Knowest thou not what these are?' And I said: 'No, my lord.'
6.
vayaan vayomer elay, lemor, zeh devar-YHWH, el-zerubavel lemor: lo vechayil, velo vekhoach--ki im-beruchi, amar YHWH tseva'ot.
Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying: 'This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying: Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
7.
mi-atah har-hagadol lifnei Zerubavel, lemishor; vehotzi, et-ha'even haroshah--teshu'ot, khen khen lah.
Who art thou, O great mountain before Zerubbabel? thou shalt become a plain; and he shall bring forth the top stone with shoutings of Grace, grace, unto it.'
8.
vayehi devar-YHWH, elay lemor.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
9.
yedei Zerubavel, yisedu habayit hazeh--veyadav tevatza'nah; veya'ata, ki-YHWH tzva'ot shelakhani aleikhem.
'The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.
10.
For who hath despised the day of small things? even they shall see with joy the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel, even these seven, which are the eyes of the LORD, that run to and fro through the whole earth.'
11.
Then answered I, and said unto him: 'What are these two olive-trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?'
12.
va'an shenit, va'omar elav: mah-shtei shiblei hazetim, asher beyad shenei tzantrot hazahav, hamrikim me'aleihem, hazahav.
And I answered the second time, and said unto him: 'What are these two olive branches, which are beside the two golden spouts, that empty the golden oil out of themselves?'
13.
vayomer elay lemor, halo yadahta mah-eleh; va'omar, lo adoni.
And he answered me and said: 'Knowest thou not what these are?' And I said: 'No, my lord.'
14.
vayomer, eleh shenei venei-hayitzhar, ha'omdim, al-adon kol-ha'aretz.
Then said he: 'These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.'
