עַל נַהֲרוֹת, בָּבֶל--שָׁם יָשַׁבְנוּ, גַּם-בָּכִינוּ: בְּזָכְרֵנוּ, אֶת-צִיּוֹן.
al naharot bavel sham yashavnu gam bakhinu bezokhrenu et tziyon
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
2.
עַל-עֲרָבִים בְּתוֹכָהּ-- תָּלִינוּ, כִּנֹּרוֹתֵינוּ.
al aravim betokhah talinu kinoroteinu
Upon the willows in the midst thereof we hanged up our harps.
3.
כִּי שָׁם שְׁאֵלוּנוּ שׁוֹבֵינוּ, דִּבְרֵי-שִׁיר-- וְתוֹלָלֵינוּ שִׂמְחָה:שִׁירוּ לָנוּ, מִשִּׁיר צִיּוֹן.
ki sham she'elunu shoveinu divrei shir vetolaleinu simkhah shiru lanu mishir tziyon
For there they that led us captive asked of us words of song, and our tormentors asked of us mirth: 'Sing us one of the songs of Zion.'
4.
אֵיךְ--נָשִׁיר אֶת-שִׁיר-יְהוָה: עַל, אַדְמַת נֵכָר.
ekh nashir et shir YHWH al admat nekhar
How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a foreign land?
5.
אִם-אֶשְׁכָּחֵךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָם-- תִּשְׁכַּח יְמִינִי.
Im-eshkachekh Yerushalayim tishkach yemini.
If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.
6.
תִּדְבַּק-לְשׁוֹנִי, לְחִכִּי-- אִם-לֹא אֶזְכְּרֵכִי:אִם-לֹא אַעֲלֶה, אֶת-יְרוּשָׁלִַם-- עַל, רֹאשׁ שִׂמְחָתִי.
Tidbak-leshoni lechikki im-lo ezkerechi im-lo a'aleh et-Yerushalayim al rosh simchati.
Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember thee not; if I set not Jerusalem above my chiefest joy.

זְכֹר יְהוָה, לִבְנֵי אֱדוֹם-- אֵת, יוֹם יְרוּשָׁלִָם:הָאֹמְרִים, עָרוּ עָרוּ-- עַד, הַיְסוֹד בָּהּ.
Zechor YHWH libnei Edom et yom Yerushalayim ha'omerim aru aru ad hayesod bah.
Remember, O LORD, against the children of Edom the day of Jerusalem; who said: 'Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.'

בַּת-בָּבֶל, הַשְּׁדוּדָה:אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁיְשַׁלֶּם-לָךְ-- אֶת-גְּמוּלֵךְ, שֶׁגָּמַלְתְּ לָנוּ.
Bat-Bavel hasheduda ashrei sheyshalem-lakh et-gemulekh shegamalt lanu.
O daughter of Babylon, that art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that repayeth thee as thou hast served us.
9.
אַשְׁרֵי, שֶׁיֹּאחֵז וְנִפֵּץ אֶת-עֹלָלַיִךְ-- אֶל-הַסָּלַע.
ashrei, sheyokhez venipetz et-olalayikh-- el-hassala.
Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the rock.
