שִׁיר, הַמַּעֲלוֹת:רַבַּת, צְרָרוּנִי מִנְּעוּרַי-- יֹאמַר-נָא, יִשְׂרָאֵל.
shir hama'alot. rabbat tzeraruni min'uray yo'mar-na Yisrael.

רַבַּת, צְרָרוּנִי מִנְּעוּרָי; גַּם, לֹא-יָכְלוּ לִי.
rabbat tzeraruni min'uray gam lo-yakhlu li.
'Much have they afflicted me from my youth up; but they have not prevailed against me.
3.
עַל-גַּבִּי, חָרְשׁוּ חֹרְשִׁים; הֶאֱרִיכוּ, למענותם לְמַעֲנִיתָם.
'al-gabi, kharshu khorshim; he'ariku, lema'anitam lema'anitam.
The plowers plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows.
4.
יְהוָה צַדִּיק; קִצֵּץ, עֲבוֹת רְשָׁעִים.
YHWH tzaddik; kitzetz, avot resha'im.
The LORD is righteous; He hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.'
5.
יֵבֹשׁוּ, וְיִסֹּגוּ אָחוֹר-- כֹּל, שֹׂנְאֵי צִיּוֹן.
yevoshu, ve'issogu akhor-- kol, sone'i tziyon.
Let them be ashamed and turned backward, all they that hate Zion.
6.
יִהְיוּ, כַּחֲצִיר גַּגּוֹת-- שֶׁקַּדְמַת שָׁלַף יָבֵשׁ.
yihyu, kakhatzir gagot-- shekadmat shalaf yavesh.
Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it springeth up;

שֶׁלֹּא מִלֵּא כַפּוֹ קוֹצֵר; וְחִצְנוֹ מְעַמֵּר.
sheló milé kafó kotzer; vekhitznó me'amer.
Wherewith the reaper filleth not his hand, nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom.
8.
וְלֹא אָמְרוּ, הָעֹבְרִים-- בִּרְכַּת-יְהוָה אֲלֵיכֶם;בֵּרַכְנוּ אֶתְכֶם, בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה.
velo amrú, ha'overim-- birkat-YHWH aleikhem; berakhnú etkhem, beshem YHWH.
Neither do they that go by say: 'The blessing of the LORD be upon you; we bless you in the name of the LORD.'
