וַיְהִי, אַחֲרֵי הַמַּגֵּפָה; וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה, וְאֶל אֶלְעָזָר בֶּן-אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן לֵאמֹר.
vayhi, akharei hamagefah; vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, ve'el El'azar ben-Aharon hakohen lemor.
And it came to pass after the plague, that the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying:
2.
שְׂאוּ אֶת-רֹאשׁ כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, מִבֶּן עֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה וָמַעְלָה--לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם: כָּל-יֹצֵא צָבָא, בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל.
se'u et-rosh kol-adat ben-Yisrael, miben esrim shanah vama'elah--leveit avotam: kol-yotzei tzava, beyisrael.
'Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, by their fathers' houses, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel.'
3.
וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה וְאֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן, אֹתָם--בְּעַרְבֹת מוֹאָב: עַל-יַרְדֵּן יְרֵחוֹ, לֵאמֹר.
vaydaber Moshe ve'el'azar hakohen, otam--be'arvot Mo'av: al-yarden Yerekho, lemor.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying:
4.
מִבֶּן עֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה, וָמָעְלָה, כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת-מֹשֶׁה וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, הַיֹּצְאִים מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.
miben esrim shanah, va'ma'ulah, ka'asher tzivah YHWH et-Mosheh u'vnei Yisrael, ha'yotze'im me'eretz Mitzrayim.
'[Take the sum of the people,] from twenty years old and upward, as the LORD commanded Moses and the children of Israel, that came forth out of the land of Egypt.'

רְאוּבֵן, בְּכוֹר יִשְׂרָאֵל; בְּנֵי רְאוּבֵן, חֲנוֹךְ מִשְׁפַּחַת הַחֲנֹכִי, לְפַלּוּא, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַפַּלֻּאִי.
Re'uven, bekhor Yisrael; bnei Re'uven, Khanokh mishpachat ha'khanokhi, le'Pallu, mishpachat ha'pallu'i.
Reuben, the first-born of Israel: the sons of Reuben: of Hanoch, the family of the Hanochites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites;
6.
לְחֶצְרֹן, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַחֶצְרוֹנִי; לְכַרְמִי, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַכַּרְמִי.
le'Hetzron, mishpachat ha'hetzroni; le'Karmi, mishpachat ha'karmi.
of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.
7.
אֵלֶּה, מִשְׁפְּחֹת הָראוּבֵנִי; וַיִּהְיוּ פְקֻדֵיהֶם, שְׁלֹשָׁה וְאַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף, וּשְׁבַע מֵאוֹת, וּשְׁלֹשִׁים.
eleh, mishpekhot haruveni; vayhiyu fequdehem, sheloshah ve'arba'im elef, ushva me'ot, ushveloshim.
These are the families of the Reubenites; and they that were numbered of them were forty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.
8.
וּבְנֵי פַלּוּא, אֱלִיאָב.
uvnei pallu, eli'av.
And the sons of Pallu: Eliab.
9.
וּבְנֵי אֱלִיאָב, נְמוּאֵל וְדָתָן וַאֲבִירָם: הוּא-דָתָן וַאֲבִירָם קרואי קְרִיאֵי הָעֵדָה, אֲשֶׁר הִצּוּ עַל-מֹשֶׁה וְעַל-אַהֲרֹן בַּעֲדַת-קֹרַח, בְּהַצֹּתָם, עַל-יְהוָה.
uvnei eli'av, nemu'el udatan va'aviram: hu-datan va'aviram qru'ei ha'edah, asher hitzu al-mosheh ve'al-aharon ba'adat-qorakh, behatzotam, al-YHWH.
And the sons of Eliab: Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. These are that Dathan and Abiram, the elect of the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the LORD;
10.
וַתִּפְתַּח הָאָרֶץ אֶת-פִּיהָ, וַתִּבְלַע אֹתָם וְאֶת-קֹרַח--בְּמוֹת הָעֵדָה: בַּאֲכֹל הָאֵשׁ, אֵת חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתַיִם אִישׁ, וַיִּהְיוּ, לְנֵס.
vatiftaKH ha'aretz et-piha, vativla otam ve'et-korakh--bemot ha'edah: ba'akhol ha'esh, et khamishim u-matayim ish, vayhiyu, lenes.
and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died; what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men, and they became a sign.
11.
וּבְנֵי-קֹרַח, לֹא-מֵתוּ.
uvney-korakh, lo-metu.
Notwithstanding the sons of Korah died not.
12.
בְּנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--לִנְמוּאֵל מִשְׁפַּחַת הַנְּמוּאֵלִי, לְיָמִין מִשְׁפַּחַת הַיָּמִינִי; לְיָכִין, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַיָּכִינִי.
bney shim'on, lemishpekhotam--linmu'el mishpakhat hanmu'eli, leyamin mishpakhat hayamini; leyakhin, mishpakhat hayakhini.
The sons of Simeon after their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelites; of Jamin, the family of the Jaminites; of Jachin, the family of the Jachinites;
13.
לְזֶרַח, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַזַּרְחִי; לְשָׁאוּל, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשָּׁאוּלִי.
lezerakh, mishpakhat hazarukhi; lesha'ul, mishpakhat hasha'uli.
of Zerah, the family of the Zerahites; of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites.
14.
אֵלֶּה, מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַשִּׁמְעֹנִי--שְׁנַיִם וְעֶשְׂרִים אֶלֶף, וּמָאתָיִם.
eleh, mishpekhot hashim'oni--shenayim ve'esrim elef, umatayim.
These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty and two thousand and two hundred.
15.
בְּנֵי גָד, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--לִצְפוֹן מִשְׁפַּחַת הַצְּפוֹנִי, לְחַגִּי מִשְׁפַּחַת הַחַגִּי; לְשׁוּנִי, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשּׁוּנִי.
bnei Gad, lemishpekhotam--litzfon mishpakhat hatzponi, lekHaggi mishpakhat haKHaggi; leshuni, mishpakhat hashuni.
The sons of Gad after their families: of Zephon, the family of the Zephonites; of Haggi, the family of the Haggites; of Shuni, the family of the Shunites;
16.
לְאָזְנִי, מִשְׁפַּחַת הָאָזְנִי; לְעֵרִי, מִשְׁפַּחַת הָעֵרִי.
le'ozni, mishpachat ha'ozni; le'eri, mishpachat ha'eri.
of Ozni, the family of the Oznites; of Eri, the family of the Erites;
17.
לַאֲרוֹד, מִשְׁפַּחַת הָאֲרוֹדִי; לְאַרְאֵלִי--מִשְׁפַּחַת, הָאַרְאֵלִי.
la'arod, mishpachat ha'arodi; le'ar'eli--mishpachat, ha'ar'eli.
of Arod, the family of the Arodites; of Areli, the family of the Arelites.
18.
אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת בְּנֵי-גָד, לִפְקֻדֵיהֶם--אַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף, וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת.
eileh mishpechot benei-gad, lifqudeihem--arba'im elef, vachamesh me'ot.
These are the families of the sons of Gad according to those that were numbered of them, forty thousand and five hundred.
19.
בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה, עֵר וְאוֹנָן; וַיָּמָת עֵר וְאוֹנָן, בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן.
bnei Yehudah, Er ve'Onan; vayamat Er ve'Onan, be'eretz Kena'an.
The sons of Judah: Er and Onan; and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
20.
וַיִּהְיוּ בְנֵי-יְהוּדָה, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--לְשֵׁלָה מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשֵּׁלָנִי, לְפֶרֶץ מִשְׁפַּחַת הַפַּרְצִי; לְזֶרַח, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַזַּרְחִי.
vayihyu vnei-Yehudah, lemishpechotam--leshelah mishpachat hashelani, lePerez mishpachat hapartzi; leZerah, mishpachat hazartzi.
And the sons of Judah after their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Perez, the family of the Perezites; of Zerah, the family of the Zerahites.
21.
וַיִּהְיוּ בְנֵי-פֶרֶץ--לְחֶצְרֹן, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַחֶצְרֹנִי; לְחָמוּל, מִשְׁפַּחַת הֶחָמוּלִי.
vayihyu vnei-Perez--leChetzron, mishpachat hachetzroni; leChamul, mishpachat hechamuli.
And the sons of Perez were: of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites.
22.
אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת יְהוּדָה, לִפְקֻדֵיהֶם--שִׁשָּׁה וְשִׁבְעִים אֶלֶף, וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת.
eleh mishpekhot Yehuda, lifqudeihem--shishah veshi'im elef, vakhamesh me'ot.
These are the families of Judah according to those that were numbered of them, threescore and sixteen thousand and five hundred.
23.
בְּנֵי יִשָּׂשכָר, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--תּוֹלָע, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַתּוֹלָעִי; לְפֻוָה, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַפּוּנִי.
bnei Yissakhar, lemishpekhotam--tola, mishpakhat hatola'i; lefuvah, mishpakhat hapuni.
The sons of Issachar after their families: of Tola, the family of the Tolaites; of Puvah, the family of the Punites;
24.
לְיָשׁוּב, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַיָּשֻׁבִי; לְשִׁמְרֹן, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשִּׁמְרֹנִי.
leyashuv, mishpakhat hayashuvi; leshimron, mishpakhat hashimroni.
of Jashub, the family of the Jashubites; of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites.
25.
אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת יִשָּׂשכָר, לִפְקֻדֵיהֶם--אַרְבָּעָה וְשִׁשִּׁים אֶלֶף, וּשְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת.
eleh mishpekhot Yissakhar, lifqudeihem--arba'ah veshishim elef, ushlosh me'ot.
These are the families of Issachar according to those that were numbered of them, threescore and four thousand and three hundred.
26.
בְּנֵי זְבוּלֻן, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--לְסֶרֶד מִשְׁפַּחַת הַסַּרְדִּי, לְאֵלוֹן מִשְׁפַּחַת הָאֵלֹנִי; לְיַחְלְאֵל--מִשְׁפַּחַת, הַיַּחְלְאֵלִי.
bnei Zevulun, lemishpekhotam--lesered mishpakhat hasardi, le'elon mishpakhat ha'eloni; leyakhle'el--mishpakhat, hayakhle'eli.
The sons of Zebulun after their families: of Sered, the family of the Seredites; of Elon, the family of the Elonites; of Jahleel, the family of the Jahleelites.
27.
אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַזְּבוּלֹנִי, לִפְקֻדֵיהֶם--שִׁשִּׁים אֶלֶף, וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת.
eleh mishpekhot hazevuloni, lifqudeihem--shishim elef, vakhamesh me'ot.
These are the families of the Zebulunites according to those that were numbered of them, threescore thousand and five hundred.
28.
בְּנֵי יוֹסֵף, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--מְנַשֶּׁה, וְאֶפְרָיִם.
bnei Yosef, lemishpekhotam—Menasheh, ve'Efrayim.
The sons of Joseph after their families: Manasseh and Ephraim.
29.
בְּנֵי מְנַשֶּׁה, לְמָכִיר מִשְׁפַּחַת הַמָּכִירִי, וּמָכִיר, הוֹלִיד אֶת-גִּלְעָד; לְגִלְעָד, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַגִּלְעָדִי.
bnei Menasheh, leMakhir mishpakhat haMakhiri, uMakhir, holid et-Gilad; leGilad, mishpakhat haGiladi.
The sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites--and Machir begot Gilead; of Gilead, the family of the Gileadites.
30.
אֵלֶּה, בְּנֵי גִלְעָד--אִיעֶזֶר, מִשְׁפַּחַת הָאִיעֶזְרִי; לְחֵלֶק, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַחֶלְקִי.
eleh, bnei Gilad—I'ezer, mishpakhat ha'I'ezri; leKhelek, mishpakhat haKhelki.
These are the sons of Gilead: of Iezer, the family of the Iezerites; of Helek, the family of the Helekites;
31.
וְאַשְׂרִיאֵל--מִשְׁפַּחַת, הָאַשְׂרִאֵלִי; וְשֶׁכֶם, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשִּׁכְמִי.
ve'asri'el mishpakhat ha'asri'eli veshekhem mishpakhat hashikhmi.
and of Asriel, the family of the Asrielites; and of Shechem, the family of the Shechemites;
32.
וּשְׁמִידָע, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשְּׁמִידָעִי; וְחֵפֶר, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַחֶפְרִי.
ushemida mishpakhat hashemida'i vechefer mishpakhat hachefri.
and of Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites; and of Hepher, the family of the Hepherites.
33.
וּצְלָפְחָד בֶּן-חֵפֶר, לֹא-הָיוּ לוֹ בָּנִים--כִּי אִם-בָּנוֹת: וְשֵׁם, בְּנוֹת צְלָפְחָד--מַחְלָה וְנֹעָה, חָגְלָה מִלְכָּה וְתִרְצָה.
utzelafchad ben-chefer lo-hayu lo banim ki im-banot veshem benot tzelafchad machlah veno'ah chaglah milkah vetirzah.
And Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters; and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
34.
אֵלֶּה, מִשְׁפְּחֹת מְנַשֶּׁה; וּפְקֻדֵיהֶם, שְׁנַיִם וַחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף וּשְׁבַע מֵאוֹת.
elleh, mishpekhot Menashe; ufqudeihem, shenayim vakhamishshim elef usheva me'ot.
These are the families of Manasseh; and they that were numbered of them were fifty and two thousand and seven hundred.
35.
אֵלֶּה בְנֵי-אֶפְרַיִם, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--לְשׁוּתֶלַח מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשֻּׁתַלְחִי, לְבֶכֶר מִשְׁפַּחַת הַבַּכְרִי; לְתַחַן, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַתַּחֲנִי.
elleh venei-Efrayim, lemishpekhotam--leshukhelakh mishpakhat hashukhal-khi, leveker mishpakhat habakhri; lekhatakhan, mishpakhat hatakhani.
These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: of Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthelahites; of Becher, the family of the Becherites; of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites.
36.
וְאֵלֶּה, בְּנֵי שׁוּתָלַח--לְעֵרָן, מִשְׁפַּחַת הָעֵרָנִי.
ve'elleh, benei Shutalakh--le'eran, mishpakhat ha'erani.
And these are the sons of Shuthelah: of Eran, the family of the Eranites.
37.
אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת בְּנֵי-אֶפְרַיִם לִפְקֻדֵיהֶם, שְׁנַיִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁים אֶלֶף וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת; אֵלֶּה בְנֵי-יוֹסֵף, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם.
'eleh mishpekhot bene-efrayim lifqudehem, shenayim ushloshim elef vakhamesh me'ot; 'eleh vene-yosef, lemishpekhotam.
These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty and two thousand and five hundred. These are the sons of Joseph after their families.
38.
בְּנֵי בִנְיָמִן, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--לְבֶלַע מִשְׁפַּחַת הַבַּלְעִי, לְאַשְׁבֵּל מִשְׁפַּחַת הָאַשְׁבֵּלִי; לַאֲחִירָם, מִשְׁפַּחַת הָאֲחִירָמִי.
bene vinyamin, lemishpekhotam--levele mishpakhat habal'i, le'ashbel mishpakhat ha'ashbeli; la'akhiram, mishpakhat ha'akhirami.
The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela, the family of the Belaites; of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites; of Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites;
39.
לִשְׁפוּפָם, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשּׁוּפָמִי; לְחוּפָם, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַחוּפָמִי.
lishfufam, mishpakhat hashufami; lekhufam, mishpakhat hakhufami.
of Shephupham, the family of the Shuphamites; of Hupham, the family of the Huphamites.
40.
וַיִּהְיוּ בְנֵי-בֶלַע, אַרְדְּ וְנַעֲמָן--מִשְׁפַּחַת, הָאַרְדִּי, לְנַעֲמָן, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַנַּעֲמִי.
vayihyu venei-vela, ard vena'aman--mishpachat, ha'ardi, lena'aman, mishpachat hana'ami.
And the sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman; [of Ard,] the family of the Ardites; of Naaman, the family of the Naamites.
41.
אֵלֶּה בְנֵי-בִנְיָמִן, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם; וּפְקֻדֵיהֶם, חֲמִשָּׁה וְאַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף וְשֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת.
e'leh venei-vinyamin, lemishpechotam; ufqudeihem, chamishah ve'arba'im elef veshesh me'ot.
These are the sons of Benjamin after their families; and they that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and six hundred.
42.
אֵלֶּה בְנֵי-דָן, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--לְשׁוּחָם, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשּׁוּחָמִי; אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת דָּן, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם.
e'leh venei-dan, lemishpechotam--leshucham, mishpachat hashuchami; e'leh mishpechot dan, lemishpechotam.
These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shuham, the family of the Shuhamites. These are the families of Dan after their families.
43.
כָּל-מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַשּׁוּחָמִי, לִפְקֻדֵיהֶם--אַרְבָּעָה וְשִׁשִּׁים אֶלֶף, וְאַרְבַּע מֵאוֹת.
kol-mishpekhot hashukhami, lifkudehem--arba'ah veshishim elef, ve'arba me'ot.
All the families of the Shuhamites, according to those that were numbered of them, were threescore and four thousand and four hundred.
44.
בְּנֵי אָשֵׁר, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--לְיִמְנָה מִשְׁפַּחַת הַיִּמְנָה, לְיִשְׁוִי מִשְׁפַּחַת הַיִּשְׁוִי; לִבְרִיעָה, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַבְּרִיעִי.
bnei Asher, lemishpekhotam--leyimnah mishpakhat hayimnah, leyishvi mishpakhat hayishvi; livri'ah, mishpakhat habri'i.
The sons of Asher after their families: of Imnah, the family of the Imnites; of Ishvi, the family of the Ishvites; of Beriah, the family of the Beriites.
45.
לִבְנֵי בְרִיעָה--לְחֶבֶר, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַחֶבְרִי; לְמַלְכִּיאֵל--מִשְׁפַּחַת, הַמַּלְכִּיאֵלִי.
livnei vri'ah--lekheber, mishpakhat hakhebri; lemalki'el--mishpakhat, hamalki'eli.
Of the sons of Beriah: of Heber, the family of the Heberites; of Malchiel, the family of the Malchielites.
46.
וְשֵׁם בַּת-אָשֵׁר, שָׂרַח.
veshem bat-Asher, Sarah.
And the name of the daughter of Asher was Serah.
47.
אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת בְּנֵי-אָשֵׁר, לִפְקֻדֵיהֶם--שְׁלֹשָׁה וַחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף, וְאַרְבַּע מֵאוֹת.
eleh mishpechot bene-Asher, lifkudehem--sheloshah vachamishim elef, ve'arba me'ot.
These are the families of the sons of Asher according to those that were numbered of them, fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
48.
בְּנֵי נַפְתָּלִי, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--לְיַחְצְאֵל, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַיַּחְצְאֵלִי; לְגוּנִי, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַגּוּנִי.
bene Naftali, lemishpechotam--leyachtze'el, mishpachat hayachtze'eli; leguni, mishpachat haguni.
The sons of Naphtali after their families: of Jahzeel, the family of the Jahzeelites; of Guni, the family of the Gunites;
49.
לְיֵצֶר, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַיִּצְרִי; לְשִׁלֵּם, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַשִּׁלֵּמִי.
le'yetzer, mishpachat ha'yitzri; le'shillem, mishpachat ha'shillemi.
of Jezer, the family of the Jezerites; of Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.
50.
אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת נַפְתָּלִי, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם; וּפְקֻדֵיהֶם, חֲמִשָּׁה וְאַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף וְאַרְבַּע מֵאוֹת.
eleh mishpechot Naftali, le'mishpechotam; u'fekudeihem, chamishah ve'arba'im elef ve'arba me'ot.
These are the families of Naphtali according to their families; and they that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and four hundred.
51.
אֵלֶּה, פְּקוּדֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל--שֵׁשׁ-מֵאוֹת אֶלֶף, וָאָלֶף; שְׁבַע מֵאוֹת, וּשְׁלֹשִׁים.
eleh, pekudei benei Yisrael--shesh-me'ot elef, ve'alef; sheva me'ot, u'shloshim.
These are they that were numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred thousand and a thousand and seven hundred and thirty.
52.
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר.
vaydabber YHWH, el-Moshe lemor.
And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
53.
לָאֵלֶּה, תֵּחָלֵק הָאָרֶץ בְּנַחֲלָה--בְּמִסְפַּר שֵׁמוֹת.
la'eleh, techalek ha'aretz benachalah--bemispar shemot.
'Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.
54.
לָרַב, תַּרְבֶּה נַחֲלָתוֹ, וְלַמְעַט, תַּמְעִיט נַחֲלָתוֹ: אִישׁ לְפִי פְקֻדָיו, יֻתַּן נַחֲלָתוֹ.
larav, tarbeh nachalato, velamcat, tamcit nachalato: ish lefi fequdav, yuttan nachalato.
To the more thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to the fewer thou shalt give the less inheritance; to each one according to those that were numbered of it shall its inheritance be given.
55.
אַךְ-בְּגוֹרָל, יֵחָלֵק אֶת-הָאָרֶץ: לִשְׁמוֹת מַטּוֹת-אֲבֹתָם, יִנְחָלוּ.
akh-begoral, yekhalek et-ha'aretz: lishmot matot-avotam, yinkhalu.
Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot; according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.
56.
עַל-פִּי, הַגּוֹרָל, תֵּחָלֵק, נַחֲלָתוֹ--בֵּין רַב, לִמְעָט.
al-pi, haggoral, tekhalek, nakhalato--bein rav, lim'at.
According to the lot shall their inheritance be divided between the more and the fewer.'
57.
וְאֵלֶּה פְקוּדֵי הַלֵּוִי, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם--לְגֵרְשׁוֹן מִשְׁפַּחַת הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי, לִקְהָת מִשְׁפַּחַת הַקְּהָתִי; לִמְרָרִי, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַמְּרָרִי.
ve'elleh fekudei halevi, lemishpekhotam--legershon mishpakhat hagershunni, likhat mishpakhat hakehati; limrari, mishpakhat hamrerari.
And these are they that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.
58.
אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת לֵוִי, מִשְׁפַּחַת הַלִּבְנִי מִשְׁפַּחַת הַחֶבְרֹנִי מִשְׁפַּחַת הַמַּחְלִי מִשְׁפַּחַת הַמּוּשִׁי, מִשְׁפַּחַת, הַקָּרְחִי; וּקְהָת, הוֹלִד אֶת-עַמְרָם.
eleh mishpekhot levi, mishpakhat halivni mishpakhat hakhevroni mishpakhat hamakhli mishpakhat hamushi, mishpakhat, hakarhi; ukehat, holid et-amram.
These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korahites. And Kohath begot Amram.
59.
וְשֵׁם אֵשֶׁת עַמְרָם, יוֹכֶבֶד בַּת-לֵוִי, אֲשֶׁר יָלְדָה אֹתָהּ לְלֵוִי, בְּמִצְרָיִם; וַתֵּלֶד לְעַמְרָם, אֶת-אַהֲרֹן וְאֶת-מֹשֶׁה, וְאֵת, מִרְיָם אֲחֹתָם.
veshem eshet amram, yokheved bat-levi, asher yaldah otah lelevi, bemitzrayim; vateled le'amram, et-aharon ve'et-mosheh, ve'et, miryam akhotam.
And the name of Amram's wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt; and she bore unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.
60.
וַיִּוָּלֵד לְאַהֲרֹן, אֶת-נָדָב וְאֶת-אֲבִיהוּא, אֶת-אֶלְעָזָר, וְאֶת-אִיתָמָר.
vayivaled le'aharon, et-nadav ve'et-avihuu, et-elazar, ve'et-itamar.
And unto Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61.
וַיָּמָת נָדָב, וַאֲבִיהוּא, בְּהַקְרִיבָם אֵשׁ-זָרָה, לִפְנֵי יְהוָה.
vayamat Nadav, va'Avihu, behakrivam esh-zarah, lifnei YHWH.
And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the LORD.
62.
וַיִּהְיוּ פְקֻדֵיהֶם, שְׁלֹשָׁה וְעֶשְׂרִים אֶלֶף--כָּל-זָכָר, מִבֶּן-חֹדֶשׁ וָמָעְלָה: כִּי לֹא הָתְפָּקְדוּ, בְּתוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, כִּי לֹא-נִתַּן לָהֶם נַחֲלָה, בְּתוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
vayihyu fequdehem, sheloshah ve'esrim elef--kol-zakhar, miben-chodesh uma'elah: ki lo hatpaqudu, betokh benei Yisrael, ki lo-nitan lahem nachalah, betokh benei Yisrael.
And they that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, every male from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.
63.
אֵלֶּה פְּקוּדֵי מֹשֶׁה, וְאֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן--אֲשֶׁר פָּקְדוּ אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּעַרְבֹת מוֹאָב, עַל, יַרְדֵּן יְרֵחוֹ.
eleh pequdei Moshe, ve'El'azar hakohen--asher paqudu et-benei Yisrael, be'arvot Mo'av, al, Yarden Yerecho.
These are they that were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.
64.
וּבְאֵלֶּה, לֹא-הָיָה אִישׁ, מִפְּקוּדֵי מֹשֶׁה, וְאַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן--אֲשֶׁר פָּקְדוּ אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּמִדְבַּר סִינָי.
uve'eleh, lo-hayah ish, mippekudei Moshe, ve'Aharon hakohen--asher pakedu et-bnei Yisrael, bemidbar Sinay.
But among these there was not a man of them that were numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.
65.
כִּי-אָמַר יְהוָה לָהֶם, מוֹת יָמֻתוּ בַּמִּדְבָּר; וְלֹא-נוֹתַר מֵהֶם, אִישׁ--כִּי אִם-כָּלֵב בֶּן-יְפֻנֶּה, וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נוּן.
ki-amar YHWH lahem, mot yamutu bammidbar; velo-notar mehem, ish--ki im-kalev ben-yefunneh, vihoshua bin-nun.
For the LORD had said of them: 'They shall surely die in the wilderness.' And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
