1.וַיַּעַן, בִּלְדַּד הַשֻּׁחִי; וַיֹּאמַר.vayan, bildad hashukhi; vayomar.Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said:
2.הַמְשֵׁל וָפַחַד עִמּוֹ; עֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם, בִּמְרוֹמָיו.hamshel vafachad immo; oseh shalom, bimromav.Dominion and fear are with Him; He maketh peace in His high places.
3.הֲיֵשׁ מִסְפָּר, לִגְדוּדָיו; וְעַל-מִי, לֹא-יָקוּם אוֹרֵהוּ.hayeish mispar, ligdudav; veal-mi, lo-yakum orehu.Is there any number of His armies? And upon whom doth not His light arise?
4.וּמַה-יִּצְדַּק אֱנוֹשׁ עִם-אֵל; וּמַה-יִּזְכֶּה, יְלוּד אִשָּׁה.umah-yitzdak enosh im-el; umah-yizkeh, yelud ishah.How then can man be just with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
5.הֵן עַד-יָרֵחַ, וְלֹא יַאֲהִיל; וְכוֹכָבִים, לֹא-זַכּוּ בְעֵינָיו.hen ad-yareach, velo yaahil; vekochavim, lo-zakku veeinav.Behold, even the moon hath no brightness, and the stars are not pure in His sight;
6.אַף, כִּי-אֱנוֹשׁ רִמָּה; וּבֶן-אָדָם, תּוֹלֵעָה.af, ki-enosh rimmah; uven-adam, tole'ah.How much less man, that is a worm! and the son of man, that is a maggot!
