1.
mi-zeh ba me'edom, khamutz begadim mibatzrah, zeh hadur bilvusho, tzo'eh berov koho; ani medaber bitzdakah, rav lehoshi'a.
'Who is this that cometh from Edom, with crimsoned garments from Bozrah? This that is glorious in his apparel, stately in the greatness of his strength?'--'I that speak in victory, mighty to save.'--
2.
madu'a adom, lilvushecha; uvegedaycha, kedorekh begat.
'Wherefore is Thine apparel red, and Thy garments like his that treadeth in the winevat?'--
3.
purah darakti levadi, ume'amim ein-ish iti, ve'edrechem be'api, ve'armesem bakhamati; veyez nitzcham al-begaday, vechal-malbushay e'galtenti.
'I have trodden the winepress alone, and of the peoples there was no man with Me; yea, I trod them in Mine anger, and trampled them in My fury; and their lifeblood is dashed against My garments, and I have stained all My raiment.
4.
ki yom nakam, belibi; ushnat ge'ulay, ba'ah.
For the day of vengeance that was in My heart, and My year of redemption are come.
5.
ve'abbit ve'ein ozer, ve'eshtomem ve'ein somekh; vattoosha li zero'i, vakhamati hi semakhatni.
And I looked, and there was none to help, and I beheld in astonishment, and there was none to uphold; therefore Mine own arm brought salvation unto Me, and My fury, it upheld Me.
6.
ve'avus amim be'api, va'ashakrerem bakhamati; ve'orid la'aretz, nitzkham.
And I trod down the peoples in Mine anger, and made them drunk with My fury, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.'
7.
khasdei YHWH azkir, tehillot YHWH, ke'al, kol asher-gemalanu YHWH; verav-tuv leveit Yisrael, asher-gemalam kerakhamav ukhrov khasadav.
I will make mention of the mercies of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us; and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He hath bestowed on them according to His compassions, and according to the multitude of His mercies.
8.
vayomer akh-ammi hemmah, banim lo yeshakeru; vayhi lahem, lemoshia.
For He said: 'Surely, they are My people, children that will not deal falsely'; so He was their Saviour.
9.
bekhol-tzaratam lo lo tzar, umal'akh panav hoshi'am--be'ahavato uvkhemlato, hu ge'alam; vaynet'lem vaynas'em, kol-yemei olam.
In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them; in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.
10.
vehemmah maru ve'itz'vu, et-ru'ach kodsho; vayehafekh lahem le'oyev, hu nilcham-bam.
But they rebelled, and grieved His holy spirit; therefore He was turned to be their enemy, Himself fought against them.
11.
vayyizkor yemei-olam, Moshe ammo; ayyeh ham'alem miyyam, et ro'ei tsono--ayyeh hasam bekirbo, et-ru'ach kodsho.
Then His people remembered the days of old, the days of Moses: 'Where is He that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock? Where is He that put His holy spirit in the midst of them?
12.
molikh limin Moshe, zro'a tif'arto; boke'a mayim mipn-eihem, la'asot lo shem olam.
That caused His glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses? That divided the water before them, to make Himself an everlasting name?
13.
molikham, battehomot; kassus bamidbar, lo yikkashelu.
That led them through the deep, as a horse in the wilderness, without stumbling?
14.
kabbehemah babbik'ah tered, ruakh YHWH tenikhennu--ken nihagta ammekha, la'asot lekha shem tif'aret.
As the cattle that go down into the valley, the spirit of the LORD caused them to rest; so didst Thou lead Thy people, to make Thyself a glorious name.'
15.
habet mishamayim ure'eh, mizzevul kodshekha vetif'artekha: ayyeh kin'atkha ugevurotekha, hamon me'ekha verakhamiekha elay hit'appaku.
Look down from heaven, and see, even from Thy holy and glorious habitation; Where is Thy zeal and Thy mighty acts, the yearning of Thy heart and Thy compassions, now restrained toward me?
16.
ki-attah avinu--ki Avraham lo yeda'anu, veYisrael lo yakkiranu: attah YHWH avinu, go'alenu me'olam shemekha.
For Thou art our Father; for Abraham knoweth us not, and Israel doth not acknowledge us; Thou, O LORD, art our Father, our Redeemer from everlasting is Thy name.
17.
lamah tat'enu YHWH midrakhekha, takshiakh libenu miyir'atekha; shuv lema'an avadekha, shivtei nakhalatekha.
O LORD, why dost Thou make us to err from Thy ways, and hardenest our heart from Thy fear? Return for Thy servants' sake, the tribes of Thine inheritance.
18.
lamitz'ar, yarshu am-kadshekha; tsareinu, bosesu mikdashekha.
Thy holy people they have well nigh driven out, our adversaries have trodden down Thy sanctuary.
19.
hayinu, me'olam lo-mashalta bam--lo-nikra shimkha, aleihem; lu-kara'ta shamayim yaradta, mipanekha harim nazolu.
We are become as they over whom Thou never borest rule, as they that were not called by Thy name. Oh, that Thou wouldest rend the heavens, that Thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might quake at Thy presence,
