וְאַתָּה בֶן-אָדָם, הִנָּבֵא אֶל-הָרֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל; וְאָמַרְתָּ--הָרֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, שִׁמְעוּ דְּבַר-יְהוָה.

ve'atah ven-adam, hinnaveh el-harei Yisrael; ve'amarta--harei Yisrael, shim'u devar-YHWH.

And thou, son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say: Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD.

כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, יַעַן אָמַר הָאוֹיֵב עֲלֵיכֶם הֶאָח; וּבָמוֹת עוֹלָם, לְמוֹרָשָׁה הָיְתָה לָּנוּ.

koh amar Adonai YHwi, ya'an amar ha'oyev aleikhem he'akh; uvamot olam, lemorashah hayetah lanu.

Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because the enemy hath said against you: Aha! even the ancient high places are ours in possession;

לָכֵן הִנָּבֵא וְאָמַרְתָּ, כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה: יַעַן בְּיַעַן שַׁמּוֹת וְשָׁאֹף אֶתְכֶם מִסָּבִיב, לִהְיוֹתְכֶם מוֹרָשָׁה לִשְׁאֵרִית הַגּוֹיִם, וַתֵּעֲלוּ עַל-שְׂפַת לָשׁוֹן, וְדִבַּת-עָם.

lakhen hinnaveh ve'amarta, koh amar Adonai YHwi: ya'an beyan shammot vesha'of etkhem missaviv, lihyotekhem morashah lish'erit haggoyim, vate'elu al-sefat lashon, vedibat-am.

therefore prophesy, and say: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because, even because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the rest of the nations, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and the evil report of the people;

לָכֵן הָרֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, שִׁמְעוּ דְּבַר-אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה: כֹּה-אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה לֶהָרִים וְלַגְּבָעוֹת לָאֲפִיקִים וְלַגֵּאָיוֹת, וְלֶחֳרָבוֹת הַשֹּׁמְמוֹת וְלֶעָרִים הַנֶּעֱזָבוֹת, אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ לְבַז וּלְלַעַג, לִשְׁאֵרִית הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר מִסָּבִיב.

lakhen hare Yisrael, shim'u devar-Adonai YHWH: koh-amar Adonai YHWH leharim vela-geva'ot la'afikim vela-ge'ayot, ulekhoravot hashomemot vela'arim hane'ezavot, asher hayu levaz ulel'ag, lish'erit hagoyim asher missaviv.

therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD: Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains and to the hills, to the streams and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities that are forsaken, which are become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are round about;

לָכֵן, כֹּה-אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, אִם-לֹא בְּאֵשׁ קִנְאָתִי דִבַּרְתִּי עַל-שְׁאֵרִית הַגּוֹיִם, וְעַל-אֱדוֹם כֻּלָּא: אֲשֶׁר נָתְנוּ-אֶת-אַרְצִי לָהֶם לְמוֹרָשָׁה בְּשִׂמְחַת כָּל-לֵבָב, בִּשְׁאָט נֶפֶשׁ--לְמַעַן מִגְרָשָׁהּ, לָבַז.

lakhen, koh-amar Adonai YHWH, im-lo be'esh kin'ati dibarti al-she'erit hagoyim, ve'al-Edom kullah: asher natnu-et-artsi lahem lemorashah besimchat kol-levav, bish'at nefesh--lema'an migrashah, lavaz.

therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Surely in the fire of My jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Edom, that have appointed My land unto themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, with disdain of soul, to cast it out for a prey;

לָכֵן, הִנָּבֵא עַל-אַדְמַת יִשְׂרָאֵל; וְאָמַרְתָּ לֶהָרִים וְלַגְּבָעוֹת לָאֲפִיקִים וְלַגֵּאָיוֹת כֹּה-אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, הִנְנִי בְקִנְאָתִי וּבַחֲמָתִי דִּבַּרְתִּי, יַעַן כְּלִמַּת גּוֹיִם, נְשָׂאתֶם.

lakhen, hinnave al-admat Yisrael; ve'amarta leharim vela-geva'ot la'afikim vela-ge'ayot koh-amar Adonai YHWH, hinni vekin'ati uva'chamati dibarti, ya'an klimmat goyim, nesatem.

therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains and to the hills, to the streams and to the valleys: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and in My fury, because ye have borne the shame of the nations;

לָכֵן, כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, אֲנִי, נָשָׂאתִי אֶת-יָדִי: אִם-לֹא הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר לָכֶם מִסָּבִיב, הֵמָּה כְּלִמָּתָם יִשָּׂאוּ.

lakhen, koh amar Adonai YHWH, ani, nasati et-yadi: im-lo hagoyim asher lakhem missaviv, hemmah kelimmatam yissa'u.

therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: I have lifted up My hand: Surely the nations that are round about you, they shall bear their shame.

וְאַתֶּם הָרֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, עַנְפְּכֶם תִּתֵּנוּ, וּפֶרְיְכֶם תִּשְׂאוּ, לְעַמִּי יִשְׂרָאֵל: כִּי קֵרְבוּ, לָבוֹא.

Ve'atem hare Yisrael, anpechem tittenu, uperyechem tisa'u, le'ammi Yisrael: ki keru, lavo.

But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to My people Israel; for they are at hand to come.

כִּי, הִנְנִי אֲלֵיכֶם; וּפָנִיתִי אֲלֵיכֶם, וְנֶעֱבַדְתֶּם וְנִזְרַעְתֶּם.

Ki, hinnini aleichem; ufaniti aleichem, vene'evadtem venizra'tem.

For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown;

10.

וְהִרְבֵּיתִי עֲלֵיכֶם אָדָם, כָּל-בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל כֻּלֹּה; וְנֹשְׁבוּ, הֶעָרִים, וְהֶחֳרָבוֹת, תִּבָּנֶינָה.

Vehirbeiti aleichem adam, kol-beit Yisrael kulloh; venoshuvu, he'arim, vehechoravot, tibanneinah.

and I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded;

11.

וְהִרְבֵּיתִי עֲלֵיכֶם אָדָם וּבְהֵמָה, וְרָבוּ וּפָרוּ; וְהוֹשַׁבְתִּי אֶתְכֶם כְּקַדְמוֹתֵיכֶם, וְהֵיטִבֹתִי מֵרִאשֹׁתֵיכֶם, וִידַעְתֶּם, כִּי-אֲנִי יְהוָה.

Vehirbeiti aleichem adam uvehemah, veravu ufaru; vehoshavti etchem kekadmoteichem, veheitiboti merishoteichem, vide'atem, ki-ani YHWH.

and I will multiply upon you man and beast, and they shall increase and be fruitful; and I will cause you to be inhabited after your former estate, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

12.

וְהוֹלַכְתִּי עֲלֵיכֶם אָדָם אֶת-עַמִּי יִשְׂרָאֵל, וִירֵשׁוּךָ, וְהָיִיתָ לָהֶם, לְנַחֲלָה; וְלֹא-תוֹסִף עוֹד, לְשַׁכְּלָם.

veholekhti alekhem adam et-ammi yisrael, vireshukha, vehayita lahem, lenakhalah; velo-tosif od, leshakkelam.

Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel, and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance; and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of children.

13.

כֹּה אָמַר, אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, יַעַן אֹמְרִים לָכֶם, אֹכֶלֶת אָדָם אתי אָתְּ; וּמְשַׁכֶּלֶת גויך גּוֹיַיִךְ, הָיִית.

koh amar, adonai yehovah, ya'an omrim lakhem, okhelet adam oti at; umeshakkelet goyayikh, hayita.

Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because they say unto you: Thou land art a devourer of men, and hast been a bereaver of thy nations;

14.

לָכֵן, אָדָם לֹא-תֹאכְלִי עוֹד, וגויך וְגוֹיַיִךְ, לֹא תכשלי- תְשַׁכְּלִי- עוֹד--נְאֻם, אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה.

lakhen, adam lo-tokhli od, vegoyayikh, lo teshakkeli od--neum, adonai yehovah.

therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nations any more, saith the Lord GOD;

15.

וְלֹא-אַשְׁמִיעַ אֵלַיִךְ עוֹד כְּלִמַּת הַגּוֹיִם, וְחֶרְפַּת עַמִּים לֹא תִשְׂאִי-עוֹד; וגויך וְגוֹיַיִךְ לֹא-תַכְשִׁלִי עוֹד, נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה.

velo-ashmi'a elayikh od kelimmat haggoyim, veherpat amim lo tis'i-od; vegoyayikh lo-takhshili od, neum adonai yehovah.

neither will I suffer the shame of the nations any more to be heard against thee, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the peoples any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to stumble any more, saith the Lord GOD.'

16.

וַיְהִי דְבַר-יְהוָה, אֵלַי לֵאמֹר.

vayhi devar-YHWH elay lemor.

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:

17.

בֶּן-אָדָם, בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל יֹשְׁבִים עַל-אַדְמָתָם, וַיְטַמְּאוּ אוֹתָהּ, בְּדַרְכָּם וּבַעֲלִילוֹתָם: כְּטֻמְאַת, הַנִּדָּה, הָיְתָה דַרְכָּם, לְפָנָי.

ben-adam beit Yisrael yoshvim al-admatam, vaytam'u otah, bedarkam uva'alilotam: ketum'at ha'nidah, haytah darkam lefanay.

'Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their way and by their doings; their way before Me was as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.

18.

וָאֶשְׁפֹּךְ חֲמָתִי עֲלֵיהֶם, עַל-הַדָּם אֲשֶׁר-שָׁפְכוּ עַל-הָאָרֶץ; וּבְגִלּוּלֵיהֶם, טִמְּאוּהָ.

va'eshpok khamati alehem, al-hadam asher-shafkhu al-ha'aretz; uvegillulehem tim'uha.

Wherefore I poured out My fury upon them for the blood which they had shed upon the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols;

19.

וָאָפִיץ אֹתָם בַּגּוֹיִם, וַיִּזָּרוּ בָּאֲרָצוֹת: כְּדַרְכָּם וְכַעֲלִילוֹתָם, שְׁפַטְתִּים.

va'afitz otam bagoyim, vayizaru ba'aratzot: kedarkam vekha'alilotam shefatim.

and I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries; according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.

20.

וַיָּבוֹא, אֶל-הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר-בָּאוּ שָׁם, וַיְחַלְּלוּ, אֶת-שֵׁם קָדְשִׁי--בֶּאֱמֹר לָהֶם עַם-יְהוָה אֵלֶּה, וּמֵאַרְצוֹ יָצָאוּ.

vayavo el-hagoyim asher-bau sham vaykhallu et-shem kodshi be'emor lahem am-YHWH elleh u-me'artso yatsau.

And when they came unto the nations, whither they came, they profaned My holy name; in that men said of them: These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of His land.

21.

וָאֶחְמֹל, עַל-שֵׁם קָדְשִׁי, אֲשֶׁר חִלְּלֻהוּ בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל, בַּגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר-בָּאוּ שָׁמָּה.

va'ehmol al-shem kodshi asher hilluluhu beit Yisrael bagoyim asher-bau shammah.

But I had pity for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations, whither they came.

22.

לָכֵן אֱמֹר לְבֵית-יִשְׂרָאֵל, כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, לֹא לְמַעַנְכֶם אֲנִי עֹשֶׂה, בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל: כִּי אִם-לְשֵׁם-קָדְשִׁי אֲשֶׁר חִלַּלְתֶּם, בַּגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר-בָּאתֶם שָׁם.

lakhen emor leveit-Yisrael koh amar Adonai YHWH lo lemaan'khem ani oseh beit Yisrael ki im-leshem-kodshi asher hillaltem bagoyim asher-battem sham.

Therefore say unto the house of Israel: Thus saith the Lord GOD: I do not this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name, which ye have profaned among the nations, whither ye came.

23.

וְקִדַּשְׁתִּי אֶת-שְׁמִי הַגָּדוֹל, הַמְחֻלָּל בַּגּוֹיִם, אֲשֶׁר חִלַּלְתֶּם, בְּתוֹכָם; וְיָדְעוּ הַגּוֹיִם כִּי-אֲנִי יְהוָה, נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, בְּהִקָּדְשִׁי בָכֶם, לְעֵינֵיהֶם.

vekiddashti et-shmi hagadol hamhullal bagoyim asher hillaltem betokham veyade'u hagoyim ki-ani YHWH neum Adonai YHWH behikkadshi vakhem le'einehem.

And I will sanctify My great name, which hath been profaned among the nations, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the nations shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

24.

וְלָקַחְתִּי אֶתְכֶם מִן-הַגּוֹיִם, וְקִבַּצְתִּי אֶתְכֶם מִכָּל-הָאֲרָצוֹת; וְהֵבֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם, אֶל-אַדְמַתְכֶם.

velaqahti etchem min-haggoyim, veqibbahti etchem mikkol-ha'aratsot; veheve'ati etchem, el-admatchem.

For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.

25.

וְזָרַקְתִּי עֲלֵיכֶם מַיִם טְהוֹרִים, וּטְהַרְתֶּם: מִכֹּל טֻמְאוֹתֵיכֶם וּמִכָּל-גִּלּוּלֵיכֶם, אֲטַהֵר אֶתְכֶם.

vezaraqti ‘aleichem mayim tehorim, utehartem: mikkol tum'oteichem umikkol-gilluleichem, atahar etchem.

And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

26.

וְנָתַתִּי לָכֶם לֵב חָדָשׁ, וְרוּחַ חֲדָשָׁה אֶתֵּן בְּקִרְבְּכֶם; וַהֲסִרֹתִי אֶת-לֵב הָאֶבֶן, מִבְּשַׂרְכֶם, וְנָתַתִּי לָכֶם, לֵב בָּשָׂר.

venatatti lachem lev chadash, veruach chadashah eten beqirbechem; vahasiroti et-lev ha'even, mibbasarchem, venatatti lachem, lev basar.

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

27.

וְאֶת-רוּחִי, אֶתֵּן בְּקִרְבְּכֶם; וְעָשִׂיתִי, אֵת אֲשֶׁר-בְּחֻקַּי תֵּלֵכוּ, וּמִשְׁפָּטַי תִּשְׁמְרוּ, וַעֲשִׂיתֶם.

ve'et-ruchi, eten beqirbechem; ve‘asiti, et asher-bechukkay telechu, umishpatay tishmuru, va‘asitem.

And I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep Mine ordinances, and do them.

28.

וִישַׁבְתֶּם בָּאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לַאֲבֹתֵיכֶם; וִהְיִיתֶם לִי, לְעָם, וְאָנֹכִי, אֶהְיֶה לָכֶם לֵאלֹהִים.

vishavtem ba'aretz, asher natatti la'avoteichem; vihyitem li, le'am, ve'anokhi, ehyeh lachem le'Elohim.

And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be My people, and I will be your God.

29.

וְהוֹשַׁעְתִּי אֶתְכֶם, מִכֹּל טֻמְאוֹתֵיכֶם; וְקָרָאתִי אֶל-הַדָּגָן וְהִרְבֵּיתִי אֹתוֹ, וְלֹא-אֶתֵּן עֲלֵיכֶם רָעָב.

vehoshati etchem, mikkol tum'oteichem; veqarati el-haddagan vehirbeiti oto, velo-etten aleichem ra'av.

And I will save you from all your uncleannesses; and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.

30.

וְהִרְבֵּיתִי אֶת-פְּרִי הָעֵץ, וּתְנוּבַת הַשָּׂדֶה: לְמַעַן, אֲשֶׁר לֹא תִקְחוּ עוֹד חֶרְפַּת רָעָב--בַּגּוֹיִם.

vehirbeiti et-pri ha'etz, utnuvat hassadeh: lema'an, asher lo tikhu od cherpat ra'av--baggoyim.

And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye may receive no more the reproach of famine among the nations.

31.

וּזְכַרְתֶּם אֶת-דַּרְכֵיכֶם הָרָעִים, וּמַעַלְלֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר לֹא-טוֹבִים; וּנְקֹטֹתֶם, בִּפְנֵיכֶם, עַל עֲוֺנֹתֵיכֶם, וְעַל תּוֹעֲבוֹתֵיכֶם.

uzchartem et-darkheichem hara'im, uma'allercheim asher lo-tovim; uneqotetem, bifneichem, al avonoteichem, ve'al to'avoteichem.

Then shall ye remember your evil ways, and your doings that were not good; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

32.

לֹא לְמַעַנְכֶם אֲנִי-עֹשֶׂה, נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה--יִוָּדַע, לָכֶם: בּוֹשׁוּ וְהִכָּלְמוּ מִדַּרְכֵיכֶם, בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל.

Lo lema'ankhem ani-oseh, ne'um Adonai YHWH--yivada, lakhem: boshu vehikalmu middarkheikhem, beit Yisrael.

Not for your sake do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you; be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel.

33.

כֹּה אָמַר, אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, בְּיוֹם טַהֲרִי אֶתְכֶם, מִכֹּל עֲוֺנוֹתֵיכֶם--וְהוֹשַׁבְתִּי, אֶת-הֶעָרִים, וְנִבְנוּ, הֶחֳרָבוֹת.

Koh amar, Adonai YHWH, beyom tahari etkhem, mikkol avonoteikhem--vehoshavti, et-he'arim, venivnu, hekharovot.

Thus saith the Lord GOD: In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded.

34.

וְהָאָרֶץ הַנְּשַׁמָּה, תֵּעָבֵד, תַּחַת אֲשֶׁר הָיְתָה שְׁמָמָה, לְעֵינֵי כָּל-עוֹבֵר.

Veha'aretz haneshamah, te'aved, takhat asher haytah shemamah, le'einei kol-over.

And the land that was desolate shall be tilled, whereas it was a desolation in the sight of all that passed by.

35.

וְאָמְרוּ, הָאָרֶץ הַלֵּזוּ הַנְּשַׁמָּה, הָיְתָה, כְּגַן-עֵדֶן; וְהֶעָרִים הֶחֳרֵבוֹת וְהַנְשַׁמּוֹת וְהַנֶּהֱרָסוֹת, בְּצוּרוֹת יָשָׁבוּ.

Ve'amru, ha'aretz hallezu haneshamah, haytah, kegan-eden; vehe'arim hekharevot vehaneshamot vehaneherasot, betzurot yashavu.

And they shall say: This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.

36.

וְיָדְעוּ הַגּוֹיִם, אֲשֶׁר יִשָּׁאֲרוּ סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶם, כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה בָּנִיתִי הַנֶּהֱרָסוֹת, נָטַעְתִּי הַנְּשַׁמָּה: אֲנִי יְהוָה, דִּבַּרְתִּי וְעָשִׂיתִי.

veyade'u hagoyim, asher yisha'aru sevivotekhem, ki ani YHWH baniti haneherasot, nat'ati hanshamah: ani YHWH, dibarti ve'asiti.

Then the nations that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD have builded the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate; I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.

37.

כֹּה אָמַר, אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, עוֹד זֹאת אִדָּרֵשׁ לְבֵית-יִשְׂרָאֵל, לַעֲשׂוֹת לָהֶם: אַרְבֶּה אֹתָם כַּצֹּאן, אָדָם.

koh amar, Adonai YHWH, od zot idaresh levet-Yisrael, la'asot lahem: arbe otam katzon, adam.

Thus saith the Lord GOD: I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.

38.

כְּצֹאן קָדָשִׁים, כְּצֹאן יְרוּשָׁלִַם בְּמוֹעֲדֶיהָ--כֵּן תִּהְיֶינָה הֶעָרִים הֶחֳרֵבוֹת, מְלֵאוֹת צֹאן אָדָם; וְיָדְעוּ, כִּי-אֲנִי יְהוָה.

ktzon kodashim, ktzon Yerushalayim bemo'adeha--ken tihyena he'arim hekhorevot, mele'ot tzon adam; veyade'u, ki-ani YHWH.

As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed seasons, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men; and they shall know that I am the LORD.'
