וַיְהִי דְבַר-יְהוָה, אֵלַי לֵאמֹר.
vayhi devar-YHWH, elay lemor.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
2.
בֶּן-אָדָם, שִׂים פָּנֶיךָ עַל-הַר שֵׂעִיר; וְהִנָּבֵא, עָלָיו.
ben-adam, sim paneikha al-har se'ir; vehinnaveh, alav.
'Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
3.
וְאָמַרְתָּ לּוֹ, כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, הִנְנִי אֵלֶיךָ, הַר-שֵׂעִיר; וְנָטִיתִי יָדִי עָלֶיךָ, וּנְתַתִּיךָ שְׁמָמָה וּמְשַׁמָּה.
ve'amarta lo, koh amar adonai yhwih, hinnini eleykha, har-se'ir; venatiti yadi aleykha, unetattikha shemamah umeshamah.
and say unto it: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against thee, O mount Seir, and I will stretch out My hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.
4.
עָרֶיךָ חָרְבָּה אָשִׂים, וְאַתָּה שְׁמָמָה תִהְיֶה; וְיָדַעְתָּ, כִּי-אֲנִי יְהוָה.
areykha kharbah asim, ve'attah shemamah tihyeh; veyadata, ki-ani yhwh.
I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
5.
יַעַן, הֱיוֹת לְךָ אֵיבַת עוֹלָם, וַתַּגֵּר אֶת-בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, עַל-יְדֵי-חָרֶב--בְּעֵת אֵידָם, בְּעֵת עֲוֺן קֵץ.
ya'an, heyot lekha eyvat olam, vattager et-bnei-yisrael, al-yede-kharev--be'et eydam, be'et avon ketz.
Because thou hast had a hatred of old, and hast hurled the children of Israel unto the power of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end;
6.
לָכֵן חַי-אָנִי, נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, כִּי-לְדָם אֶעֶשְׂךָ, וְדָם יִרְדְּפֶךָ; אִם-לֹא דָם שָׂנֵאתָ, וְדָם יִרְדְּפֶךָ.
lakhen khay-ani, neum adonai yhwih, ki-ledam e'eskha, vedam yirdefekha; im-lo dam saneta, vedam yirdefekha.
therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee; surely thou hast hated thine own blood, therefore blood shall pursue thee.
7.
וְנָתַתִּי אֶת-הַר שֵׂעִיר, לְשִׁמְמָה וּשְׁמָמָה; וְהִכְרַתִּי מִמֶּנּוּ, עֹבֵר וָשָׁב.
venatatti et-har se'ir, leshimmah ushemamah; vehikhrati mimmennu, over vashav.
Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth through and him that returneth.
8.
וּמִלֵּאתִי אֶת-הָרָיו, חֲלָלָיו; גִּבְעוֹתֶיךָ וְגֵיאוֹתֶיךָ וְכָל-אֲפִיקֶיךָ, חַלְלֵי-חֶרֶב יִפְּלוּ בָהֶם.
umilleti et-harav, khalalayiv; giv'oteikha vege'oteikha vekhal-afikeikha, khallei-kherev yippelu vahem.
And I will fill his mountains with his slain; in thy hills and in thy valleys and in all thy streams shall they fall that are slain with the sword.
9.
שִׁמְמוֹת עוֹלָם אֶתֶּנְךָ, וְעָרֶיךָ לֹא תישבנה תָשׁוֹבְנָה; וִידַעְתֶּם, כִּי-אֲנִי יְהוָה.
shimmot olam etennkha, ve'areikha lo tashovnah; vide'tem, ki-ani YHWH.
I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
10.
יַעַן אֲמָרְךָ אֶת-שְׁנֵי הַגּוֹיִם וְאֶת-שְׁתֵּי הָאֲרָצוֹת, לִי תִהְיֶינָה--וִירַשְׁנוּהָ; וַיהוָה, שָׁם הָיָה.
ya'an amarKha et-shenei hagoyim ve'et-shtei ha'aratzot, li tihyeynah--virashnuha; vaYHWH, sham hayah.
Because thou hast said: These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there;
11.
לָכֵן חַי-אָנִי, נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, וְעָשִׂיתִי כְּאַפְּךָ וּכְקִנְאָתְךָ, אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתָה מִשִּׂנְאָתֶיךָ בָּם; וְנוֹדַעְתִּי בָם, כַּאֲשֶׁר אֶשְׁפְּטֶךָ.
lakhen khay-ani, ne'um Adonai YHWH, ve'asiti ke'appekha ukhkin'atekha, asher asita mishsin'atekha bam; vonoda'ti bam, ka'asher eshpetekha.
therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will do according to thine anger and according to thine envy, which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make Myself known among them, when I shall judge thee.
12.
וְיָדַעְתָּ, כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה, שָׁמַעְתִּי אֶת-כָּל-נָאָצוֹתֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר אָמַרְתָּ עַל-הָרֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, לֵאמֹר שממה שָׁמֵמוּ: לָנוּ נִתְּנוּ, לְאָכְלָה.
veyadarta, ki ani YHWH, shamati et-kol-na'atzotekha asher amarta al-harei Yisrael, lemor shemamah shamemu: lanu nitnu, le'okhlah.
And thou shalt know that I the LORD have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying: They are laid desolate, they are given us to devour.
13.
וַתַּגְדִּילוּ עָלַי בְּפִיכֶם, וְהַעְתַּרְתֶּם עָלַי דִּבְרֵיכֶם: אֲנִי, שָׁמָעְתִּי.
vattagdilu alay befikhem, vaha'tartem alay divrikhem: ani, shamati.
And ye have magnified yourselves against Me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against Me; I have heard it.
14.
כֹּה אָמַר, אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה: כִּשְׂמֹחַ, כָּל-הָאָרֶץ, שְׁמָמָה, אֶעֱשֶׂה-לָּךְ.
koh amar, Adonai YHWH: kismoakh, kol-ha'aretz, shemamah, e'eseh-lakh.
Thus saith the Lord GOD: When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.
15.
כְּשִׂמְחָתְךָ לְנַחֲלַת בֵּית-יִשְׂרָאֵל, עַל אֲשֶׁר-שָׁמֵמָה--כֵּן אֶעֱשֶׂה-לָּךְ: שְׁמָמָה תִהְיֶה הַר-שֵׂעִיר וְכָל-אֱדוֹם כֻּלָּהּ, וְיָדְעוּ כִּי-אֲנִי יְהוָה.
kesimchatkha lenachat bet-Yisrael, al asher shamemah--ken e'eseh-lakh: shemamah tihyeh har-Se'ir vekhal-Edom kullah, veyada'u ki-ani YHWH.
As thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee; thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Edom, even all of it; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
