1.
וַתִּשָּׂא אֹתִי רוּחַ, וַתָּבֵא אֹתִי אֶל-שַׁעַר בֵּית-יְהוָה הַקַּדְמוֹנִי הַפּוֹנֶה קָדִימָה, וְהִנֵּה בְּפֶתַח הַשַּׁעַר, עֶשְׂרִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה אִישׁ; וָאֶרְאֶה בְתוֹכָם אֶת-יַאֲזַנְיָה בֶן-עַזֻּר, וְאֶת-פְּלַטְיָהוּ בֶן-בְּנָיָהוּ--שָׂרֵי הָעָם.
vattisa oti ruach, vattave'i oti el-sha'ar beit-YHWH hakkadmoni happone kadimah, vehinneh vespeta'h hasha'ar, esrim vachamishshah ish; va'er'eh vesokham et-ya'azanyah ven-azzur, ve'et-pelatyahu ven-benayahu--sarei ha'am.
Then a spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD'S house, which looketh eastward; and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; and I saw in the midst of them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.
2.
וַיֹּאמֶר, אֵלָי: בֶּן-אָדָם--אֵלֶּה הָאֲנָשִׁים הַחֹשְׁבִים אָוֶן וְהַיֹּעֲצִים עֲצַת-רָע, בָּעִיר הַזֹּאת.
vayomer, elay: ben-adam--elleh ha'anashim hachoshevim aven vehayocetim aszat-ra, ba'ir hazzot.
And He said unto me: 'Son of man, these are the men that devise iniquity, and that give wicked counsel in this city;

הָאֹמְרִים, לֹא בְקָרוֹב בְּנוֹת בָּתִּים; הִיא הַסִּיר, וַאֲנַחְנוּ הַבָּשָׂר.
ha'omerim, lo vekarov benot battim; hi hassir, va'anachnu habasar.
that say: The time is not near to build houses! this city is the caldron, and we are the flesh.
4.
לָכֵן, הִנָּבֵא עֲלֵיהֶם: הִנָּבֵא, בֶּן-אָדָם.
Lakhen, hinaveh aleihem: hinaveh, ben-adam.
Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man.'
5.
וַתִּפֹּל עָלַי, רוּחַ יְהוָה, וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי אֱמֹר כֹּה-אָמַר יְהוָה, כֵּן אֲמַרְתֶּם בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל; וּמַעֲלוֹת רוּחֲכֶם, אֲנִי יְדַעְתִּיהָ.
Vatipol alay, ruach YHWH, vayomer elay emor koh-amar YHWH, ken amartem beit Yisrael; umaalot ruchakhem, ani yedatiha.
And the spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and He said unto me: 'Speak: Thus saith the LORD: Thus have ye said, O house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.
6.
הִרְבֵּיתֶם חַלְלֵיכֶם, בָּעִיר הַזֹּאת; וּמִלֵּאתֶם חוּצֹתֶיהָ, חָלָל.
Hirbeitem challeikhem, ba'ir hazot; umilletem chutroteiha, chalal.
Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.
7.
לָכֵן, כֹּה-אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, חַלְלֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר שַׂמְתֶּם בְּתוֹכָהּ, הֵמָּה הַבָּשָׂר וְהִיא הַסִּיר; וְאֶתְכֶם, הוֹצִיא מִתּוֹכָהּ.
Lakhen, koh-amar Adonai YHWH, challeikhem asher samtem betokhah, hemah habasar vehi hasir; ve'etkhem, hotzi mitokhah.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron; but ye shall be brought forth out of the midst of it.
8.
חֶרֶב, יְרֵאתֶם; וְחֶרֶב אָבִיא עֲלֵיכֶם, נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה.
kherev yeretem vekherev avi alekhem neum Adonai YHWH
Ye have feared the sword; and the sword will I bring upon you, saith the Lord GOD.
9.
וְהוֹצֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם מִתּוֹכָהּ, וְנָתַתִּי אֶתְכֶם בְּיַד-זָרִים; וְעָשִׂיתִי בָכֶם, שְׁפָטִים.
vehotse'iti etkhem mitokhah venatati etkhem beyad zarim ve'asiti vakhem shefatim
And I will bring you forth out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.
10.
בַּחֶרֶב תִּפֹּלוּ, עַל-גְּבוּל יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶשְׁפּוֹט אֶתְכֶם; וִידַעְתֶּם, כִּי-אֲנִי יְהוָה.
bakherev tipolu al gevul Yisrael eshpot etkhem veda'atem ki ani YHWH
Ye shall fall by the sword: I will judge you upon the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
11.
הִיא, לֹא-תִהְיֶה לָכֶם לְסִיר, וְאַתֶּם תִּהְיוּ בְתוֹכָהּ, לְבָשָׂר; אֶל-גְּבוּל יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֶשְׁפֹּט אֶתְכֶם.
hi lo tihyeh lakhem lesir ve'atem tihyu vetokhah levasar el gevul Yisrael eshpot etkhem
Though this city shall not be your caldron, ye shall be the flesh in the midst thereof; I will judge you upon the border of Israel;
12.
וִידַעְתֶּם, כִּי-אֲנִי יְהוָה, אֲשֶׁר בְּחֻקַּי לֹא הֲלַכְתֶּם, וּמִשְׁפָּטַי לֹא עֲשִׂיתֶם; וּכְמִשְׁפְּטֵי הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶם, עֲשִׂיתֶם.
vi'da'tem, ki-ani YHWH, asher bekukkai lo halakhtem, umishpatai lo asitem; ukhmishpetei haggoyim asher sevivotekhem, asitem.
and ye shall know that I am the LORD; for ye have not walked in My statutes, neither have ye executed Mine ordinances, but have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you.'
13.
וַיְהִי, כְּהִנָּבְאִי, וּפְלַטְיָהוּ בֶן-בְּנָיָה, מֵת; וָאֶפֹּל עַל-פָּנַי וָאֶזְעַק קוֹל-גָּדוֹל, וָאֹמַר אֲהָהּ אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה--כָּלָה אַתָּה עֹשֶׂה, אֵת שְׁאֵרִית יִשְׂרָאֵל.
vayhi, kehinnavi, ufelatyahu ven-benayaha, met; va'epol al-panay va'ez'ak kol-gadol, va'omar ahah Adonai YHWH--kalah attah oseh, et she'arit Yisrael.
And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said: 'Ah Lord GOD! wilt Thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?'
14.
וַיְהִי דְבַר-יְהוָה, אֵלַי לֵאמֹר.
vayhi devar-YHWH, elay lemor.
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
15.
בֶּן-אָדָם, אַחֶיךָ אַחֶיךָ אַנְשֵׁי גְאֻלָּתֶךָ, וְכָל-בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל, כֻּלֹּה: אֲשֶׁר אָמְרוּ לָהֶם יֹשְׁבֵי יְרוּשָׁלִַם, רַחֲקוּ מֵעַל יְהוָה--לָנוּ הִיא נִתְּנָה הָאָרֶץ, לְמוֹרָשָׁה.
ben-adam, akheykha akheykha anshei ge'ullatekha, vekhal-beit Yisrael, kulloh: asher amru lahem yoshvei Yerushalayim, rakhuku me'al YHWH--lanu hi nit'tah ha'aretz, lemorashah.
'Son of man, as for thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel, all of them, concerning whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said: Get you far from the LORD! unto us is this land given for a possession;
16.
לָכֵן אֱמֹר, כֹּה-אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, כִּי הִרְחַקְתִּים בַּגּוֹיִם, וְכִי הֲפִיצוֹתִים בָּאֲרָצוֹת; וָאֱהִי לָהֶם לְמִקְדָּשׁ מְעַט, בָּאֲרָצוֹת אֲשֶׁר-בָּאוּ שָׁם.
lakhen emor, koh-amar Adonai YHWH, ki hirkhaktim bagoyim, vekhi hafivotim ba'aratzot; va'ehi lahem lemikdash meat, ba'aratzot asher-bau sham.
therefore say: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Although I have removed them far off among the nations, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet have I been to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they are come;
17.
לָכֵן אֱמֹר, כֹּה-אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, וְקִבַּצְתִּי אֶתְכֶם מִן-הָעַמִּים, וְאָסַפְתִּי אֶתְכֶם מִן-הָאֲרָצוֹת אֲשֶׁר נְפֹצוֹתֶם בָּהֶם; וְנָתַתִּי לָכֶם, אֶת-אַדְמַת יִשְׂרָאֵל.
lakhen emor, koh-amar Adonai YHWH, vekibatzti etkhem min-ha'amim, ve'asafti etkhem min-ha'aratzot asher nefototem bahem; venatati lakhem, et-admat Yisrael.
therefore say: Thus saith the Lord GOD: I will even gather you from the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
18.
וּבָאוּ-שָׁמָּה; וְהֵסִירוּ אֶת-כָּל-שִׁקּוּצֶיהָ, וְאֶת-כָּל-תּוֹעֲבוֹתֶיהָ--מִמֶּנָּה.
uvau-shammah; vehesiru et-kol-shikkutzeiha, ve'et-kol-to'avoteiha--mimennah.
And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.
19.
וְנָתַתִּי לָהֶם לֵב אֶחָד, וְרוּחַ חֲדָשָׁה אֶתֵּן בְּקִרְבְּכֶם; וַהֲסִרֹתִי לֵב הָאֶבֶן, מִבְּשָׂרָם, וְנָתַתִּי לָהֶם, לֵב בָּשָׂר.
venatati lahem lev echad, veruach chadashah eten bekirbekhem; vahasiroti lev ha'even, mibsearam, venatati lahem, lev basar.
And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh;
20.
לְמַעַן בְּחֻקֹּתַי יֵלֵכוּ, וְאֶת-מִשְׁפָּטַי יִשְׁמְרוּ וְעָשׂוּ אֹתָם; וְהָיוּ-לִי לְעָם--וַאֲנִי, אֶהְיֶה לָהֶם לֵאלֹהִים.
lema'an bekukhotay yelekhu, ve'et-mishpatay yishmeru ve'asu otam; vehayu-li le'am--va'ani, ehyeh lahem le'Elohim.
that they may walk in My statutes, and keep Mine ordinances, and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
21.
וְאֶל-לֵב שִׁקּוּצֵיהֶם וְתוֹעֲבוֹתֵיהֶם, לִבָּם הֹלֵךְ--דַּרְכָּם בְּרֹאשָׁם נָתַתִּי, נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה.
ve'el-lev shikkutseihem veto'avoteihem, libam holekh--darkam berosham natati, neum Adonai YHWH.
But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.'
22.
וַיִּשְׂאוּ הַכְּרוּבִים אֶת-כַּנְפֵיהֶם, וְהָאוֹפַנִּים לְעֻמָּתָם; וּכְבוֹד אֱלֹהֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל עֲלֵיהֶם, מִלְמָעְלָה.
vayyisu hakeruvim et-kanfeihem, veha'ofannim le'ummatam; ukhvod Elohei-Yisrael aleihem, milma'elah.
Then did the cherubim lift up their wings, and the wheels were beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
23.
וַיַּעַל כְּבוֹד יְהוָה, מֵעַל תּוֹךְ הָעִיר; וַיַּעֲמֹד, עַל-הָהָר, אֲשֶׁר, מִקֶּדֶם לָעִיר.
vayya'al kevod YHWH, me'al tokh ha'ir; vayya'amod, al-hahar, asher, mikedem la'ir.
And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.
24.
וְרוּחַ נְשָׂאַתְנִי, וַתְּבִאֵנִי כַשְׂדִּימָה אֶל-הַגּוֹלָה, בַּמַּרְאֶה, בְּרוּחַ אֱלֹהִים; וַיַּעַל, מֵעָלַי, הַמַּרְאֶה, אֲשֶׁר רָאִיתִי.
ve'ruach nesa'atni, vatevi'eni khasdima el-hagola, bamar'eh, beruach Elohim; vaya'al, me'alai, hamar'eh, asher ra'iti.
And a spirit lifted me up, and brought me in the vision by the spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from Me.
25.
וָאֲדַבֵּר, אֶל-הַגּוֹלָה, אֵת כָּל-דִּבְרֵי יְהוָה, אֲשֶׁר הֶרְאָנִי.
va'adaber, el-hagola, et kol-divrei YHWH, asher her'ani.
Then I spoke unto them of the captivity all the things that the LORD had shown me.
