1.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה, עַתָּה תִרְאֶה, אֲשֶׁר אֶעֱשֶׂה לְפַרְעֹה: כִּי בְיָד חֲזָקָה, יְשַׁלְּחֵם, וּבְיָד חֲזָקָה, יְגָרְשֵׁם מֵאַרְצוֹ.
Vayomer YHWH, el-Moshe, 'attah tir'eh, asher e'eseh lephar'oh: ki veyad khazaqah, yeshallakhem, uveyad khazaqah, yegarshem me'artzo.
And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh; for by a strong hand shall he let them go, and by a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.'
2.
וַיְדַבֵּר אֱלֹהִים, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה; וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו, אֲנִי יְהוָה.
vaydabber Elohim, el-Moshe; vayyomer elav, ani YHWH.
And God spoke unto Moses, and said unto him: 'I am the LORD;
3.
וָאֵרָא, אֶל-אַבְרָהָם אֶל-יִצְחָק וְאֶל-יַעֲקֹב--בְּאֵל שַׁדָּי; וּשְׁמִי יְהוָה, לֹא נוֹדַעְתִּי לָהֶם.
va'era el-Avraham el-Yitzchak ve'el-Ya'akov be'el Shaddai ushmi YHWH lo noda'ti lahem.
and I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name YHWH I made Me not known to them.
4.
וְגַם הֲקִמֹתִי אֶת-בְּרִיתִי אִתָּם, לָתֵת לָהֶם אֶת-אֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן--אֵת אֶרֶץ מְגֻרֵיהֶם, אֲשֶׁר-גָּרוּ בָהּ.
ve'gam hakamoti et-beriti ittam, latet lahem et-eretz kena'an--et eretz megureihem, asher-garu vah.
And I have also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their sojournings, wherein they sojourned.
5.
וְגַם אֲנִי שָׁמַעְתִּי, אֶת-נַאֲקַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֲשֶׁר מִצְרַיִם, מַעֲבִדִים אֹתָם; וָאֶזְכֹּר, אֶת-בְּרִיתִי.
ve'gam ani shama'ti, et-na'akat benei Yisrael, asher Mitzrayim, ma'avidim otam; va'ezkor, et-beriti.
And moreover I have heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered My covenant.
6.
לָכֵן אֱמֹר לִבְנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֲנִי יְהוָה, וְהוֹצֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם מִתַּחַת סִבְלֹת מִצְרַיִם, וְהִצַּלְתִּי אֶתְכֶם מֵעֲבֹדָתָם; וְגָאַלְתִּי אֶתְכֶם בִּזְרוֹעַ נְטוּיָה, וּבִשְׁפָטִים גְּדֹלִים.
lakhen emor livnei-Yisrael, ani YHWH, vehotsati etkhem mitakhat sivlot Mitzrayim, vehitsalti etkhem me'avodatam; vega'alti etkhem bizro'a netuyah, uvisfatim gedolim.
Wherefore say unto the children of Israel: I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments;
7.
וְלָקַחְתִּי אֶתְכֶם לִי לְעָם, וְהָיִיתִי לָכֶם לֵאלֹהִים; וִידַעְתֶּם, כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם, הַמּוֹצִיא אֶתְכֶם, מִתַּחַת סִבְלוֹת מִצְרָיִם.
velaqahti etkhem li le'am, vehayiti lakhem le'Elohim; viyda'tem, ki ani YHWH Elohekhem, hammotzi etkhem, mittachat sivlot Mitzrayim.
and I will take you to Me for a people, and I will be to you a God; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
8.
וְהֵבֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם, אֶל-הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר נָשָׂאתִי אֶת-יָדִי, לָתֵת אֹתָהּ לְאַבְרָהָם לְיִצְחָק וּלְיַעֲקֹב; וְנָתַתִּי אֹתָהּ לָכֶם מוֹרָשָׁה, אֲנִי יְהוָה.
ve'heve'ti et'khem, el-ha'aretz, asher nasa'ti et-ya'di, latet otah le'Avraham le'Yitzchak ule'Ya'akov; venatat'ti otah lakhem morashah, ani YHWH.
And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning which I lifted up My hand to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for a heritage: I am the LORD.'
9.
וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה כֵּן, אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל; וְלֹא שָׁמְעוּ, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה, מִקֹּצֶר רוּחַ, וּמֵעֲבֹדָה קָשָׁה.
vaydabber Moshe ken, el-benei Yisrael; velo shame'u, el-Moshe, miqotzer ru'ach, uMe'avodah qashah.
And Moses spoke so unto the children of Israel; but they hearkened not unto Moses for impatience of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
10.
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר.
Vaydaber YHWH, el-Moshe lemor.
And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
11.
בֹּא דַבֵּר, אֶל-פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ מִצְרָיִם; וִישַׁלַּח אֶת-בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, מֵאַרְצוֹ.
bo dabber, el-par'oh melekh Mitzrayim; vishallakh et-bnei-Yisrael, me'artzo.
'Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.'
12.
וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה, לִפְנֵי יְהוָה לֵאמֹר: הֵן בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, לֹא-שָׁמְעוּ אֵלַי, וְאֵיךְ יִשְׁמָעֵנִי פַרְעֹה, וַאֲנִי עֲרַל שְׂפָתָיִם.
vaydabber Moshe, lifnei YHWH lemor: hen benei-Yisrael, lo-shame'u elai, ve'eikh yishma'eni Phar'oh, va'ani aral sephatayim.
And Moses spoke before the LORD, saying: 'Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?'
13.
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶל-אַהֲרֹן, וַיְצַוֵּם אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְאֶל-פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ מִצְרָיִם--לְהוֹצִיא אֶת-בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.
vaydabber YHWH, el-Moshe ve'el-Aharon, vaytzavvem el-bnei Yisrael, ve'el-Par'oh melekh Mitzrayim--lehotzi et-bnei-Yisrael, me'eretz Mitzrayim.
And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
14.
אֵלֶּה, רָאשֵׁי בֵית-אֲבֹתָם: בְּנֵי רְאוּבֵן בְּכֹר יִשְׂרָאֵל, חֲנוֹךְ וּפַלּוּא חֶצְרֹן וְכַרְמִי--אֵלֶּה, מִשְׁפְּחֹת רְאוּבֵן.
'elleh, rashei veit-avotam: benei Re'uven bekhor Yisrael, Khanokh u-Pallu khetzron ve-Kharmi--'elleh, mishpekhot Re'uven.
These are the heads of their fathers' houses: the sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi. These are the families of Reuben.
15.
וּבְנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן, יְמוּאֵל וְיָמִין וְאֹהַד וְיָכִין וְצֹחַר, וְשָׁאוּל, בֶּן-הַכְּנַעֲנִית; אֵלֶּה, מִשְׁפְּחֹת שִׁמְעוֹן.
uvene Shim'on, Yemu'el veYamin ve'Ohad veYakhin vetzohar, veSha'ul, ben-haken'anit; elleh, mishpechot Shim'on.
And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman. These are the families of Simeon.
16.
וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי-לֵוִי, לְתֹלְדֹתָם--גֵּרְשׁוֹן, וּקְהָת וּמְרָרִי; וּשְׁנֵי חַיֵּי לֵוִי, שֶׁבַע וּשְׁלֹשִׁים וּמְאַת שָׁנָה.
ve'eleh shemot benei-levi, letoledotam--gershon, uqhet umerari; ushenei khayei levi, sheva ushloshim ume'at shanah.
And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon and Kohath, and Merari. And the years of the life of Levi were a hundred thirty and seven years.
17.
בְּנֵי גֵרְשׁוֹן לִבְנִי וְשִׁמְעִי, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם.
Benei Gershon Livni veShim'i, lemishpekhotam.
The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei, according to their families.
18.
וּבְנֵי קְהָת--עַמְרָם וְיִצְהָר, וְחֶבְרוֹן וְעֻזִּיאֵל; וּשְׁנֵי חַיֵּי קְהָת, שָׁלֹשׁ וּשְׁלֹשִׁים וּמְאַת שָׁנָה.
uvenei kehat—amram ve'ytzhar, vehevron ve'uzzi'el; ushnei khayei kehat, shalosh ushloshim ume'at shanah.
And the sons of Kohath: Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel. And the years of the life of Kohath were a hundred thirty and three years.
19.
וּבְנֵי מְרָרִי, מַחְלִי וּמוּשִׁי; אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַלֵּוִי, לְתֹלְדֹתָם.
u'vney Merari, Makhli u'Mushi; elleh mishpechot hallevi, letoledotam.
And the sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their generations.
20.
וַיִּקַּח עַמְרָם אֶת-יוֹכֶבֶד דֹּדָתוֹ, לוֹ לְאִשָּׁה, וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ, אֶת-אַהֲרֹן וְאֶת-מֹשֶׁה; וּשְׁנֵי חַיֵּי עַמְרָם, שֶׁבַע וּשְׁלֹשִׁים וּמְאַת שָׁנָה.
vayikkakh Amram et-Yocheved dodato lo le'ishah vatteled lo et-Aharon ve'et-Moshe; ushnei khayei Amram sheva ushloshim ume'at shanah.
And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bore him Aaron and Moses. And the years of the life of Amram were a hundred and thirty and seven years.
21.
וּבְנֵי, יִצְהָר--קֹרַח וָנֶפֶג, וְזִכְרִי.
u'venei, Yitzhar--Korakh vanefig, vezikhri.
And the sons of Izhar: Korah, and Nepheg, and Zichri.
22.
וּבְנֵי, עֻזִּיאֵל--מִישָׁאֵל וְאֶלְצָפָן, וְסִתְרִי.
uvenei, Uzziel -- Mishael ve'Eltzafan, veSitri.
And the sons of Uzziel: Mishael, and Elzaphan, and Sithri.
23.
וַיִּקַּח אַהֲרֹן אֶת-אֱלִישֶׁבַע בַּת-עַמִּינָדָב, אֲחוֹת נַחְשׁוֹן--לוֹ לְאִשָּׁה; וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ, אֶת-נָדָב וְאֶת-אֲבִיהוּא, אֶת-אֶלְעָזָר, וְאֶת-אִיתָמָר.
Vayikkach Aharon et-Elisheva bat-Amminadav, achot Nachshon--lo le'ishah; vatteled lo, et-Nadav ve'et-Avihu, et-El'azar, ve'et-Itamar.
And Aaron took him Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab, the sister of Nahshon, to wife; and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
24.
וּבְנֵי קֹרַח, אַסִּיר וְאֶלְקָנָה וַאֲבִיאָסָף; אֵלֶּה, מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַקָּרְחִי.
uv'nei Korach, Assir ve'Elkanah va'Avi'asaf; elleh, mishp'chot haKarkhi.
And the sons of Korah: Assir, and Elkanah, and Abiasaph; these are the families of the Korahites.
25.
וְאֶלְעָזָר בֶּן-אַהֲרֹן לָקַח-לוֹ מִבְּנוֹת פּוּטִיאֵל, לוֹ לְאִשָּׁה, וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ, אֶת-פִּינְחָס; אֵלֶּה, רָאשֵׁי אֲבוֹת הַלְוִיִּם--לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם.
ve'el'azar ben-Aharon lakach-lo mibbnot Putiel, lo le'ishah, vatted lo, et-Pinchas; elleh, rashei avot halviyim--lemishpechotam.
And Eleazar Aaron's son took him one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites according to their families.
26.
הוּא אַהֲרֹן, וּמֹשֶׁה--אֲשֶׁר אָמַר יְהוָה, לָהֶם, הוֹצִיאוּ אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם, עַל-צִבְאֹתָם.
hu Aharon, umosheh--asher amar YHWH, lahem, hotzi'u et-bnei Yisrael me'eretz Mitzrayim, al-tziv'otam.
These are that Aaron and Moses, to whom the LORD said: 'Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their hosts.'
27.
הֵם, הַמְדַבְּרִים אֶל-פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ-מִצְרַיִם, לְהוֹצִיא אֶת-בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, מִמִּצְרָיִם; הוּא מֹשֶׁה, וְאַהֲרֹן.
Hem, hamdabrim el-par'oh melekh-mitzrayim, lehotzi et-bnei-Yisrael, mimmitzrayim; hu Moshe, ve'Aharon.
These are they that spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt. These are that Moses and Aaron.
28.
וַיְהִי, בְּיוֹם דִּבֶּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה--בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.
vayhi, beyom dibber YHWH el-Moshe--be'eretz Mitzrayim.
And it came to pass on the day when the LORD spoke unto Moses in the land of Egypt,
29.
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר, אֲנִי יְהוָה; דַּבֵּר, אֶל-פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ מִצְרַיִם, אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי, דֹּבֵר אֵלֶיךָ.
vaydaber YHWH el-Moshe lemor, ani YHWH; daber, el-Par'oh melekh Mitzrayim, et kol-asher ani, dover eleykha.
that the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 'I am the LORD; speak thou unto Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I speak unto thee.'
30.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה, לִפְנֵי יְהוָה: הֵן אֲנִי, עֲרַל שְׂפָתַיִם, וְאֵיךְ, יִשְׁמַע אֵלַי פַּרְעֹה.
Vayomer Moshe, lifnei YHWH: hen ani, aral sefatayim, ve'ekh, yishma elai Par'oh.
And Moses said before the LORD: 'Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me?'
