1.
וַיַּעַן מֹשֶׁה, וַיֹּאמֶר, וְהֵן לֹא-יַאֲמִינוּ לִי, וְלֹא יִשְׁמְעוּ בְּקֹלִי: כִּי יֹאמְרוּ, לֹא-נִרְאָה אֵלֶיךָ יְהוָה.
Vay'an Moshe, vayomer, vehen lo-ya'aminu li, velo yishme'u bekoli: ki yomru, lo-nir'ah elekha YHWH.
And Moses answered and said: 'But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice; for they will say: The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.'
2.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו יְהוָה, מזה מַה-זֶּה בְיָדֶךָ; וַיֹּאמֶר, מַטֶּה.
vayomer elav YHWH, mah-zeh veyadekha; vayomer, matteh.
And the LORD said unto him: 'What is that in thy hand?' And he said: 'A rod.'
3.
וַיֹּאמֶר הַשְׁלִיכֵהוּ אַרְצָה, וַיַּשְׁלִכֵהוּ אַרְצָה וַיְהִי לְנָחָשׁ; וַיָּנָס מֹשֶׁה, מִפָּנָיו.
vayomer hashlikhehu artzah, vayyashlikhehu artzah vayhi lenachash; vayyanas Moshe, mipanav.
And He said: 'Cast it on the ground.' And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה, שְׁלַח יָדְךָ, וֶאֱחֹז בִּזְנָבוֹ; וַיִּשְׁלַח יָדוֹ וַיַּחֲזֶק בּוֹ, וַיְהִי לְמַטֶּה בְּכַפּוֹ.
vayomer YHWH, el-Moshe, shelakh yadkha, ve'ekhoz biznavo; vayishlakh yado vayakhazek bo, vayhi lamatte bekappo.
And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Put forth thy hand, and take it by the tail--and he put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand--
5.
לְמַעַן יַאֲמִינוּ, כִּי-נִרְאָה אֵלֶיךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֹתָם: אֱלֹהֵי אַבְרָהָם אֱלֹהֵי יִצְחָק, וֵאלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב.
lema'an ya'aminu, ki-nir'ah eilekha YHWH Elohei avotam: Elohei Avraham Elohei Yitzchak, ve'Elohei Ya'akov.
that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.'
6.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה לוֹ עוֹד, הָבֵא-נָא יָדְךָ בְּחֵיקֶךָ, וַיָּבֵא יָדוֹ, בְּחֵיקוֹ; וַיּוֹצִאָהּ, וְהִנֵּה יָדוֹ מְצֹרַעַת כַּשָּׁלֶג.
vayomer YHWH lo od, haveh-na yadkha bekheykhekha, vayaveh yado, bekheyko; vayotzi'ah, vehinneh yado metzora'at kashaleg.
And the LORD said furthermore unto him: 'Put now thy hand into thy bosom.' And he put his hand into his bosom; and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.
7.
וַיֹּאמֶר, הָשֵׁב יָדְךָ אֶל-חֵיקֶךָ, וַיָּשֶׁב יָדוֹ, אֶל-חֵיקוֹ; וַיּוֹצִאָהּ, מֵחֵיקוֹ, וְהִנֵּה-שָׁבָה, כִּבְשָׂרוֹ.
vayomer, hashev yadkha el-kheikekha, vayashev yado, el-kheiko; vayotsi'ah, mekheiko, vehinneh-shavah, kivsaro.
And He said: 'Put thy hand back into thy bosom.--And he put his hand back into his bosom; and when he took it out of his bosom, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.--
8.
וְהָיָה, אִם-לֹא יַאֲמִינוּ לָךְ, וְלֹא יִשְׁמְעוּ, לְקֹל הָאֹת הָרִאשׁוֹן--וְהֶאֱמִינוּ, לְקֹל הָאֹת הָאַחֲרוֹן.
ve'hayah, im-lo ya'aminu lakh, velo yishma'u, lekol ha'ot ha'rishon--ve'he'eminu, lekol ha'ot ha'aharon.
And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
9.
וְהָיָה אִם-לֹא יַאֲמִינוּ גַּם לִשְׁנֵי הָאֹתוֹת הָאֵלֶּה, וְלֹא יִשְׁמְעוּן לְקֹלֶךָ--וְלָקַחְתָּ מִמֵּימֵי הַיְאֹר, וְשָׁפַכְתָּ הַיַּבָּשָׁה; וְהָיוּ הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר תִּקַּח מִן-הַיְאֹר, וְהָיוּ לְדָם בַּיַּבָּשֶׁת.
vehayah im-lo ya'aminu gam lishnei ha'otot ha'elleh, velo yishme'un lekolekha--velakachta mimmei hate'or, veshaphachta hayyabashah; vehayu hammayim asher tikkach min-haye'or, vehayu ledam bayyabes
And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe even these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land; and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.'

וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-יְהוָה, בִּי אֲדֹנָי, לֹא אִישׁ דְּבָרִים אָנֹכִי גַּם מִתְּמוֹל גַּם מִשִּׁלְשֹׁם, גַּם מֵאָז דַּבֶּרְךָ אֶל-עַבְדֶּךָ: כִּי כְבַד-פֶּה וּכְבַד לָשׁוֹן, אָנֹכִי.
vayomer Moshe el-YHWH, bi Adonai, lo ish devarim anokhi gam mittemol gam mishilshom, gam me'az daberkha el-'avdekha: ki khevad-peh ukhevad lashon, anokhi.
And Moses said unto the LORD: 'Oh Lord, I am not a man of words, neither heretofore, nor since Thou hast spoken unto Thy servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.'
11.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֵלָיו, מִי שָׂם פֶּה לָאָדָם, אוֹ מִי-יָשׂוּם אִלֵּם, אוֹ חֵרֵשׁ אוֹ פִקֵּחַ אוֹ עִוֵּר--הֲלֹא אָנֹכִי, יְהוָה.
vayomer YHWH elav, mi sam peh la'adam, o mi-yasum ilem, o cheresh o pike'ach o iver--halo anokhi, YHWH.
And the LORD said unto him: 'Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh a man dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? is it not I the LORD?
12.
וְעַתָּה, לֵךְ; וְאָנֹכִי אֶהְיֶה עִם-פִּיךָ, וְהוֹרֵיתִיךָ אֲשֶׁר תְּדַבֵּר.
ve'attah lekh ve'anokhi ehyeh im-pikha vehoreitikha asher tedabber.
Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt speak.'
13.
וַיֹּאמֶר, בִּי אֲדֹנָי; שְׁלַח-נָא, בְּיַד-תִּשְׁלָח.
vayomer, bi adonai; shelach-na, beyad-tishlach.
And he said: 'Oh Lord, send, I pray Thee, by the hand of him whom Thou wilt send.'
14.
וַיִּחַר-אַף יְהוָה בְּמֹשֶׁה, וַיֹּאמֶר הֲלֹא אַהֲרֹן אָחִיךָ הַלֵּוִי--יָדַעְתִּי, כִּי-דַבֵּר יְדַבֵּר הוּא; וְגַם הִנֵּה-הוּא יֹצֵא לִקְרָאתֶךָ, וְרָאֲךָ וְשָׂמַח בְּלִבּוֹ.
vayichar-af YHWH beMosheh, vayomer halo Aharon achicha halevi--yadati, ki-daber yedaber hu; vesagam hinneh-hu yotze likratecha, vera'acha vesamach belibo.
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and He said: 'Is there not Aaron thy brother the Levite? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee; and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
15.
וְדִבַּרְתָּ אֵלָיו, וְשַׂמְתָּ אֶת-הַדְּבָרִים בְּפִיו; וְאָנֹכִי, אֶהְיֶה עִם-פִּיךָ וְעִם-פִּיהוּ, וְהוֹרֵיתִי אֶתְכֶם, אֵת אֲשֶׁר תַּעֲשׂוּן.
vedibbarta elav, vesamta et-hadevarim befiv; ve'anokhi, ehyeh im-pikha ve'im-pihu, vehoriti etkhem, et asher ta'asun.
And thou shalt speak unto him, and put the words in his mouth; and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
16.
וְדִבֶּר-הוּא לְךָ, אֶל-הָעָם; וְהָיָה הוּא יִהְיֶה-לְּךָ לְפֶה, וְאַתָּה תִּהְיֶה-לּוֹ לֵאלֹהִים.
vedibber-hu lekha, el-ha'am; vehaya hu yihyeh-lekha lefe, ve'attah tihyeh-llo lelohim.
And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people; and it shall come to pass, that he shall be to thee a mouth, and thou shalt be to him in God's stead.
17.
וְאֶת-הַמַּטֶּה הַזֶּה, תִּקַּח בְּיָדֶךָ, אֲשֶׁר תַּעֲשֶׂה-בּוֹ, אֶת-הָאֹתֹת.
ve'et-hamatteh hazzeh, tikkach beyadekha, asher ta'aseh-bo, et-ha'otot.
And thou shalt take in thy hand this rod, wherewith thou shalt do the signs.'
18.
וַיֵּלֶךְ מֹשֶׁה וַיָּשָׁב אֶל-יֶתֶר חֹתְנוֹ, וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ אֵלְכָה נָּא וְאָשׁוּבָה אֶל-אַחַי אֲשֶׁר-בְּמִצְרַיִם, וְאֶרְאֶה, הַעוֹדָם חַיִּים; וַיֹּאמֶר יִתְרוֹ לְמֹשֶׁה, לֵךְ לְשָׁלוֹם.
vayelekh Moshe vayashav el-yeter khatno, vayomer lo elekha na ve'ashuvah el-akhay asher-bemitzrayim, ve'er'eh, ha'odam khayim; vayomer yitro leMoshe, lekh leshalom.
And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said unto him: 'Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren that are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive.' And Jethro said to Moses: 'Go in peace.'
19.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה בְּמִדְיָן, לֵךְ שֻׁב מִצְרָיִם: כִּי-מֵתוּ, כָּל-הָאֲנָשִׁים, הַמְבַקְשִׁים, אֶת-נַפְשֶׁךָ.
Vayomer YHWH el-Moshe bemidyan, lekh shuv Mitzrayim: ki-metu, kol-ha'anashim, hamvevakeshim, et-nafshekha.
And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian: 'Go, return into Egypt; for all the men are dead that sought thy life.'
20.
וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-אִשְׁתּוֹ וְאֶת-בָּנָיו, וַיַּרְכִּבֵם עַל-הַחֲמֹר, וַיָּשָׁב, אַרְצָה מִצְרָיִם; וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-מַטֵּה הָאֱלֹהִים, בְּיָדוֹ.
vayikakh Moshe et-ishto ve'et-banayim, vayarkibem al-hakhamor, vayashav, artzah Mitzrayim; vayikakh Moshe et-mateh haElohim, beyado.
And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt; and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
21.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה, בְּלֶכְתְּךָ לָשׁוּב מִצְרַיְמָה, רְאֵה כָּל-הַמֹּפְתִים אֲשֶׁר-שַׂמְתִּי בְיָדֶךָ וַעֲשִׂיתָם לִפְנֵי פַרְעֹה; וַאֲנִי אֲחַזֵּק אֶת-לִבּוֹ, וְלֹא יְשַׁלַּח אֶת-הָעָם.
Vayomer YHWH, el-Moshe, beled'tekha lashuv Mitzraymah, re'eh kol-hammoftim asher-samti veyadekha va'asitam lifnei Far'oh; va'ani akhazzeq et-libbo, velo yeshallakh et-ha'am.
And the LORD said unto Moses: 'When thou goest back into Egypt, see that thou do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in thy hand; but I will harden his heart, and he will not let the people go.
22.
וְאָמַרְתָּ, אֶל-פַּרְעֹה: כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה, בְּנִי בְכֹרִי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
ve'amarta, el-par'oh: koh amar YHWH, beni vekori Yisrael.
And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh: Thus saith the LORD: Israel is My son, My first-born.
23.
וָאֹמַר אֵלֶיךָ, שַׁלַּח אֶת-בְּנִי וְיַעַבְדֵנִי, וַתְּמָאֵן, לְשַׁלְּחוֹ--הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי הֹרֵג, אֶת-בִּנְךָ בְּכֹרֶךָ.
va'omar eleykha, shallach et-beni veya'avdeni, vattema'en, leshallukho--hinneh anokhi horeg, et-binkha bekhorakha.
And I have said unto thee: Let My son go, that he may serve Me; and thou hast refused to let him go. Behold, I will slay thy son, thy first-born.'--
24.
וַיְהִי בַדֶּרֶךְ, בַּמָּלוֹן; וַיִּפְגְּשֵׁהוּ יְהוָה, וַיְבַקֵּשׁ הֲמִיתוֹ.
vayhi vaderekh, bammalon; vayifgeshehu YHWH, vayvakeshe hamito.
And it came to pass on the way at the lodging-place, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.
25.
וַתִּקַּח צִפֹּרָה צֹר, וַתִּכְרֹת אֶת-עָרְלַת בְּנָהּ, וַתַּגַּע, לְרַגְלָיו; וַתֹּאמֶר, כִּי חֲתַן-דָּמִים אַתָּה לִי.
vattikkakh tziporah tzor, vattikhrot et-arelfat benah, vattaggay, leraglav; vatto'mer, ki khatan-damim attah li.
Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said: 'Surely a bridegroom of blood art thou to me.'
26.
וַיִּרֶף, מִמֶּנּוּ; אָז, אָמְרָה, חֲתַן דָּמִים, לַמּוּלֹת.
vayiref, mimmennu; az, amrah, khatan damim, lammo'ot.
So He let him alone. Then she said: 'A bridegroom of blood in regard of the circumcision.'
27.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-אַהֲרֹן, לֵךְ לִקְרַאת מֹשֶׁה הַמִּדְבָּרָה; וַיֵּלֶךְ, וַיִּפְגְּשֵׁהוּ בְּהַר הָאֱלֹהִים--וַיִּשַּׁק-לוֹ.
vayomer YHWH el Aharon, lekh likrat Moshe hamidbarah; vayelekh, vayifgeshehu behar ha'Elohim--vayishak lo.
And the LORD said to Aaron: 'Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.' And he went, and met him in the mountain of God, and kissed him.
28.
וַיַּגֵּד מֹשֶׁה לְאַהֲרֹן, אֵת כָּל-דִּבְרֵי יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר שְׁלָחוֹ, וְאֵת כָּל-הָאֹתֹת, אֲשֶׁר צִוָּהוּ.
Vayaged Moshe le'Aharon, et kol-divrei YHWH asher shelakho, ve'et kol-ha'otot, asher tzivahu.
And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD wherewith He had sent him, and all the signs wherewith He had charged him.
29.
וַיֵּלֶךְ מֹשֶׁה, וְאַהֲרֹן; וַיַּאַסְפוּ, אֶת-כָּל-זִקְנֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
Vayelekh Moshe, ve'Aharon; vayya'asfu, et-kol-zifnei bene Yisrael.
And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel.
30.
וַיְדַבֵּר אַהֲרֹן--אֵת כָּל-הַדְּבָרִים, אֲשֶׁר-דִּבֶּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה; וַיַּעַשׂ הָאֹתֹת, לְעֵינֵי הָעָם.
vaydabber Aharon, et kol-haddvarim, asher-diber YHWH el-Moshe; vayya'as ha'otot, le'einei ha'am.
And Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
31.
וַיַּאֲמֵן, הָעָם; וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ כִּי-פָקַד יְהוָה אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְכִי רָאָה אֶת-עָנְיָם, וַיִּקְּדוּ, וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ.
vayya'amen ha'am, vayyishme'u ki-fakad YHWH et-bnei Yisrael, vekhi ra'ah et-'onyam, vayyikkelu, vayyishtachavvu.
And the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD had remembered the children of Israel, and that He had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
