1.
בָּעֵת הַהִוא אָמַר יְהוָה אֵלַי, פְּסָל-לְךָ שְׁנֵי-לוּחֹת אֲבָנִים כָּרִאשֹׁנִים, וַעֲלֵה אֵלַי, הָהָרָה; וְעָשִׂיתָ לְּךָ, אֲרוֹן עֵץ.
ba'et hahi amar YHWH elay, pesal-lekha shenei-lukhot avanim karishonim, va'aleh elay, haharah; va'asita lekha, aron ets.
At that time the LORD said unto me: 'Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto Me into the mount; and make thee an ark of wood.
2.
וְאֶכְתֹּב, עַל-הַלֻּחֹת, אֶת-הַדְּבָרִים, אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ עַל-הַלֻּחֹת הָרִאשֹׁנִים אֲשֶׁר שִׁבַּרְתָּ; וְשַׂמְתָּם, בָּאָרוֹן.
ve'ekhtov, al-hallukhot, et-haddevarim, asher hayu al-hallukhot harishonim asher shibarta; vesamtam, ba'aron.
And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which thou didst break, and thou shalt put them in the ark.'

וָאַעַשׂ אֲרוֹן עֲצֵי שִׁטִּים, וָאֶפְסֹל שְׁנֵי-לֻחֹת אֲבָנִים כָּרִאשֹׁנִים; וָאַעַל הָהָרָה, וּשְׁנֵי הַלֻּחֹת בְּיָדִי.
va'a'as aron atzei shittim, va'efsol shenei-luhat avanim karishonim; va'a'al haharah, ushinei halluhat beyadi.
So I made an ark of acacia-wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in my hand.

וַיִּכְתֹּב עַל-הַלֻּחֹת כַּמִּכְתָּב הָרִאשׁוֹן, אֵת עֲשֶׂרֶת הַדְּבָרִים, אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה אֲלֵיכֶם בָּהָר מִתּוֹךְ הָאֵשׁ, בְּיוֹם הַקָּהָל; וַיִּתְּנֵם יְהוָה, אֵלָי.
vayikhtov al-halluhat kammikhtav harishon, et aseret haddevarim, asher dibber YHWH aleikhem bahar mitokh ha'esh, beyom hakkahal; vayyittenem YHWH, elay.
And He wrote on the tables according to the first writing, the ten words, which the LORD spoke unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly; and the LORD gave them unto me.

וָאֵפֶן, וָאֵרֵד מִן-הָהָר, וָאָשִׂם אֶת-הַלֻּחֹת, בָּאָרוֹן אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי; וַיִּהְיוּ שָׁם, כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוַּנִי יְהוָה.
va'efen, va'ered min-hahar, va'asim et-halluhat, ba'aron asher asiti; vayyihyu sham, ka'asher tzivvani YHWH.
And I turned and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they are, as the LORD commanded me.--
6.
וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, נָסְעוּ מִבְּאֵרֹת בְּנֵי-יַעֲקָן--מוֹסֵרָה; שָׁם מֵת אַהֲרֹן וַיִּקָּבֵר שָׁם, וַיְכַהֵן אֶלְעָזָר בְּנוֹ תַּחְתָּיו.
uvnei Yisrael, nase'u mibbe'erot bnei-ya'akan--moserah; sham met Aharon vayyikkaver sham, vaykhahen El'azar beno takhtav.
And the children of Israel journeyed from Beeroth-benejaakan to Moserah; there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.
7.
מִשָּׁם נָסְעוּ, הַגֻּדְגֹּדָה; וּמִן-הַגֻּדְגֹּדָה יָטְבָתָה, אֶרֶץ נַחֲלֵי מָיִם.
misham nase'u, hagudgodah; umin-hagudgodah yatovatah, eretz nakhalei mayim.
From thence they journeyed unto Gudgod; and from Gudgod to Jotbah, a land of brooks of water.--
8.
בָּעֵת הַהִוא, הִבְדִּיל יְהוָה אֶת-שֵׁבֶט הַלֵּוִי, לָשֵׂאת, אֶת-אֲרוֹן בְּרִית-יְהוָה--לַעֲמֹד לִפְנֵי יְהוָה לְשָׁרְתוֹ וּלְבָרֵךְ בִּשְׁמוֹ, עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה.
ba'et hahi, hivdil YHWH et-shevet halevi, lase't, et-aron berit-YHWH--la'amod lifnei YHWH lesharto ulevarekh bishmo, ad hayom hazeh.
At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto Him, and to bless in His name, unto this day.
9.
עַל-כֵּן לֹא-הָיָה לְלֵוִי, חֵלֶק וְנַחֲלָה--עִם-אֶחָיו: יְהוָה הוּא נַחֲלָתוֹ, כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לוֹ.
al-ken lo-hayah lelevi, khelek venakhalah--im-akhav: YHWH hu nakhalato, ka'asher diber YHWH Elohekha lo.
Wherefore Levi hath no portion nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God spoke unto him.--
10.
וְאָנֹכִי עָמַדְתִּי בָהָר, כַּיָּמִים הָרִאשֹׁנִים--אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם, וְאַרְבָּעִים לָיְלָה; וַיִּשְׁמַע יְהוָה אֵלַי, גַּם בַּפַּעַם הַהִוא--לֹא-אָבָה יְהוָה, הַשְׁחִיתֶךָ.
ve'anokhi amadti vahar, kayamim harishonim--arba'im yom, ve'arba'im laylah; vayishma YHWH elay, gam bapa'am hahi--lo-avah YHWH, hashkhitekha.
Now I stayed in the mount, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened unto me that time also; the LORD would not destroy thee.
11.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֵלַי, קוּם לֵךְ לְמַסַּע לִפְנֵי הָעָם; וְיָבֹאוּ וְיִירְשׁוּ אֶת-הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר-נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי לַאֲבֹתָם לָתֵת לָהֶם.
vayomer YHWH elay, kum lekh lemasa lifnei ha'am; veyavou veyirshu et-ha'aretz, asher-nishba'ti la'avotam latet lahem.
And the LORD said unto me: 'Arise, go before the people, causing them to set forward, that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore unto their fathers to give unto them.'
12.
וְעַתָּה, יִשְׂרָאֵל--מָה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, שֹׁאֵל מֵעִמָּךְ: כִּי אִם-לְיִרְאָה אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לָלֶכֶת בְּכָל-דְּרָכָיו, וּלְאַהֲבָה אֹתוֹ, וְלַעֲבֹד אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, בְּכָל-לְבָבְךָ וּבְכָל-נַפְשֶׁךָ.
ve'atah, Yisrael--mah YHWH Elohekha, sho'el me'immakh: ki im-leyir'ah et-YHWH Elohekha lalechet bekhol-derakhav, ule'ahavah oto, vela'avod et-YHWH Elohekha, bekhol-levavkha uvkhol-nafshekha.
And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul;
13.
לִשְׁמֹר אֶת-מִצְוֺת יְהוָה, וְאֶת-חֻקֹּתָיו, אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ, הַיּוֹם--לְטוֹב, לָךְ.
lishmor et-mitzvot YHWH, ve'et-hukkotav, asher anokhi metzavkha, hayom--letov, lakh.
to keep for thy good the commandments of the LORD, and His statutes, which I command thee this day?
14.
הֵן לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, הַשָּׁמַיִם וּשְׁמֵי הַשָּׁמָיִם, הָאָרֶץ, וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר-בָּהּ.
hen laYHWH Elohekha, hashamayim ushmei hashamayim, ha'aretz, vekhol-asher-bah.
Behold, unto the LORD thy God belongeth the heaven, and the heaven of heavens, the earth, with all that therein is.
15.
רַק בַּאֲבֹתֶיךָ חָשַׁק יְהוָה, לְאַהֲבָה אוֹתָם; וַיִּבְחַר בְּזַרְעָם אַחֲרֵיהֶם, בָּכֶם מִכָּל-הָעַמִּים--כַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה.
rak ba'avotekha khashak YHWH, le'ahavah otam; vayivkhar bezar'am akharikhem, bakhem mikkol-ha'ammim--kayyom hazzeh.
Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and He chose their seed after them, even you, above all peoples, as it is this day.
16.
וּמַלְתֶּם, אֵת עָרְלַת לְבַבְכֶם; וְעָרְפְּכֶם--לֹא תַקְשׁוּ, עוֹד.
umaltet, et arlat levavkhem; ve'orpekhem--lo takshu, od.
Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
17.
כִּי, יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם--הוּא אֱלֹהֵי הָאֱלֹהִים, וַאֲדֹנֵי הָאֲדֹנִים: הָאֵל הַגָּדֹל הַגִּבֹּר, וְהַנּוֹרָא, אֲשֶׁר לֹא-יִשָּׂא פָנִים, וְלֹא יִקַּח שֹׁחַד.
ki, YHWH Elohekhem--hu Elohei haElohim, va'adonei ha'adonim: ha'El haggadol haggibor, vehannora, asher lo-yissa panim, velo yikkach shokhat.
For the LORD your God, He is God of gods, and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the awful, who regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward.
18.
עֹשֶׂה מִשְׁפַּט יָתוֹם, וְאַלְמָנָה; וְאֹהֵב גֵּר, לָתֶת לוֹ לֶחֶם וְשִׂמְלָה.
oseh mishpat yatom, ve'almanah; ve'ohev ger, latet lo lekhem vesimlah.
He doth execute justice for the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.
19.
וַאֲהַבְתֶּם, אֶת-הַגֵּר: כִּי-גֵרִים הֱיִיתֶם, בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.
va'ahavtem, et-hager: ki-gerim heyitem, be'eretz Mitzrayim.
Love ye therefore the stranger; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
20.
אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ תִּירָא, אֹתוֹ תַעֲבֹד; וּבוֹ תִדְבָּק, וּבִשְׁמוֹ תִּשָּׁבֵעַ.
et-YHWH Elohekha tira, oto ta'avod; uvo tidbak, uvishmo tishave'a.
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; Him shalt thou serve; and to Him shalt thou cleave, and by His name shalt thou swear.
21.
הוּא תְהִלָּתְךָ, וְהוּא אֱלֹהֶיךָ--אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה אִתְּךָ, אֶת-הַגְּדֹלֹת וְאֶת-הַנּוֹרָאֹת הָאֵלֶּה, אֲשֶׁר רָאוּ, עֵינֶיךָ.
hu tehilatekha, vehu Elohekha--asher-asa itekha, et-hagedolot ve'et-hanora'ot ha'eleh, asher ra'u, eynekha.
He is thy glory, and He is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and tremendous things, which thine eyes have seen.
22.
בְּשִׁבְעִים נֶפֶשׁ, יָרְדוּ אֲבֹתֶיךָ מִצְרָיְמָה; וְעַתָּה, שָׂמְךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, כְּכוֹכְבֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם, לָרֹב.
beshiv'im nefesh, yaredu avotekha Mitzraymah; ve'atah, samkha YHWH Elohekha, kekhokhvei hashamayim, larov.
Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.
