וֶאֱלִישָׁע דִּבֶּר אֶל-הָאִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר-הֶחֱיָה אֶת-בְּנָהּ לֵאמֹר, קוּמִי וּלְכִי אתי אַתְּ וּבֵיתֵךְ, וְגוּרִי, בַּאֲשֶׁר תָּגוּרִי: כִּי-קָרָא יְהוָה לָרָעָב, וְגַם-בָּא אֶל-הָאָרֶץ שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים.
ve'elisha diber el-ha'isha asher-hekhiya et-benah lemor, qumi ulekhi oti at uveitekha, veguri, ba'asher taguri: ki-qara YHWH lara'av, vegam-ba el-ha'aretz sheva shanim.
Now Elisha had spoken unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying: 'Arise, and go thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn; for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.'
2.
וַתָּקָם, הָאִשָּׁה, וַתַּעַשׂ, כִּדְבַר אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים; וַתֵּלֶךְ הִיא וּבֵיתָהּ, וַתָּגָר בְּאֶרֶץ-פְּלִשְׁתִּים שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים.
vattakam ha'ishah vatta'as kidvar ish haElohim vetelech hi uveitah vattagar be'eretz pelishtim sheva shanim.
And the woman arose, and did according to the word of the man of God; and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

וַיְהִי, מִקְצֵה שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים, וַתָּשָׁב הָאִשָּׁה, מֵאֶרֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּים; וַתֵּצֵא לִצְעֹק אֶל-הַמֶּלֶךְ, אֶל-בֵּיתָהּ וְאֶל-שָׂדָהּ.
vayehi miktzeh sheva shanim vattashav ha'ishah me'eretz pelishtim vatetzei litz'ok el hamelech el beitah ve'el sadah.
And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines; and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.

וְהַמֶּלֶךְ, מְדַבֵּר אֶל-גֵּחֲזִי, נַעַר אִישׁ-הָאֱלֹהִים, לֵאמֹר: סַפְּרָה-נָּא לִי, אֵת כָּל-הַגְּדֹלוֹת אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה אֱלִישָׁע.
vehamelech medaber el Gechazi naar ish haElohim lemor saprah-na li et kol hagedolot asher-asah Elisha.
Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying: 'Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.'

וַיְהִי הוּא מְסַפֵּר לַמֶּלֶךְ, אֵת אֲשֶׁר-הֶחֱיָה אֶת-הַמֵּת, וְהִנֵּה הָאִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר-הֶחֱיָה אֶת-בְּנָהּ צֹעֶקֶת אֶל-הַמֶּלֶךְ, עַל-בֵּיתָהּ וְעַל-שָׂדָהּ; וַיֹּאמֶר גֵּחֲזִי, אֲדֹנִי הַמֶּלֶךְ--זֹאת הָאִשָּׁה, וְזֶה-בְּנָהּ אֲשֶׁר-הֶחֱיָה אֱלִישָׁע.
vayehi hu mesaper lamelech et asher-hechiyah et hamet vehineh ha'ishah asher-hechiyah et benah tzo'eket el hamelech al beitah ve'al sadah vayomer Gechazi adoni hamelech zot ha'ishah vezeh-benah asher-hechiyah Elisha.
And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life him that was dead, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said: 'My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.'

וַיִּשְׁאַל הַמֶּלֶךְ לָאִשָּׁה, וַתְּסַפֶּר-לוֹ; וַיִּתֶּן-לָהּ הַמֶּלֶךְ סָרִיס אֶחָד לֵאמֹר, הָשֵׁיב אֶת-כָּל-אֲשֶׁר-לָהּ וְאֵת כָּל-תְּבוּאֹת הַשָּׂדֶה, מִיּוֹם עָזְבָה אֶת-הָאָרֶץ, וְעַד-עָתָּה.
vayish'al hamelekh la'ishah vatesaper-lo vayiten-lah hamelekh saris echad lemor hashev et-kol-asher-lah ve'et kol-tevu'ot hassadeh miyom ‘ozvah et-ha'aretz ve‘ad-‘attah.
And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying: 'Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.'
7.
וַיָּבֹא אֱלִישָׁע דַּמֶּשֶׂק, וּבֶן-הֲדַד מֶלֶךְ-אֲרָם חֹלֶה; וַיֻּגַּד-לוֹ לֵאמֹר, בָּא אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים עַד-הֵנָּה.
vayavo elisha damesek uven-hadad melekh-aram choleh vayuggad-lo lemor ba ish ha'elohim ‘ad-hennah.
And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-hadad the king of Aram was sick; and it was told him, saying. 'The man of God is come hither.'
8.
וַיֹּאמֶר הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶל-חֲזָהאֵל, קַח בְּיָדְךָ מִנְחָה, וְלֵךְ, לִקְרַאת אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים; וְדָרַשְׁתָּ אֶת-יְהוָה מֵאוֹתוֹ לֵאמֹר, הַאֶחְיֶה מֵחֳלִי זֶה.
vayomer hamelekh el-chaza'el kach beyadekha minhah veledekh likrat ish ha'elohim vedarashta et-YHWH me'oto lemor ha'ehyeh mecholi zeh.
And the king said unto Hazael: 'Take a present in thy hand, and go meet the man of God, and inquire of the LORD by him, saying: Shall I recover of this sickness?'
9.
וַיֵּלֶךְ חֲזָאֵל, לִקְרָאתוֹ, וַיִּקַּח מִנְחָה בְיָדוֹ וְכָל-טוּב דַּמֶּשֶׂק, מַשָּׂא אַרְבָּעִים גָּמָל; וַיָּבֹא, וַיַּעֲמֹד לְפָנָיו, וַיֹּאמֶר בִּנְךָ בֶן-הֲדַד מֶלֶךְ-אֲרָם שְׁלָחַנִי אֵלֶיךָ לֵאמֹר, הַאֶחְיֶה מֵחֳלִי זֶה.
vayelekh chaza'el likrato vayikach minhah veyado vekol-tuv damesek massa arba'im gamal vayavo vaya‘amod lefanav vayomer bincha ven-hadad melekh-aram shelachani eleykha lemor ha'ehyeh mecholi zeh.
So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said: 'Thy son Ben-hadad king of Aram hath sent me to thee, saying: Shall I recover of this sickness?'
10.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו אֱלִישָׁע, לֵךְ אֱמָר-לא לוֹ חָיֹה תִחְיֶה; וְהִרְאַנִי יְהוָה, כִּי-מוֹת יָמוּת.
vayomer elav Elisha, lekh emar-lo lo khayo tikhiyeh; vehirani YHWH, ki-mot yamut.
And Elisha said unto him: 'Go, say unto him: Thou shalt surely recover; howbeit the LORD hath shown me that he shall surely die.'
11.
וַיַּעֲמֵד אֶת-פָּנָיו, וַיָּשֶׂם עַד-בֹּשׁ; וַיֵּבְךְּ, אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים.
vaya'amed et-panayv, vayasem ad-bosh; vayevk, ish ha'Elohim.
And he settled his countenance stedfastly upon him, until he was ashamed; and the man of God wept.
12.
וַיֹּאמֶר חֲזָאֵל, מַדּוּעַ אֲדֹנִי בֹכֶה; וַיֹּאמֶר כִּי-יָדַעְתִּי אֵת אֲשֶׁר-תַּעֲשֶׂה לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל רָעָה, מִבְצְרֵיהֶם תְּשַׁלַּח בָּאֵשׁ וּבַחֻרֵיהֶם בַּחֶרֶב תַּהֲרֹג, וְעֹלְלֵיהֶם תְּרַטֵּשׁ, וְהָרֹתֵיהֶם תְּבַקֵּעַ.
vayomer khaza'el, madu'a adoni vokheh; vayomer ki-yad'ati et asher-ta'aseh livnei Yisrael ra'ah, mivtsareihem teshalakh ba'esh uva-khureihem bakherev taharog, ve'olleihem teratesh, ve'haroteihem tevakkei'a.
And Hazael said: 'Why weepeth my lord?' And he answered: 'Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strongholds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash in pieces their little ones, and rip up their women with child.'
13.
וַיֹּאמֶר חֲזָהאֵל--כִּי מָה עַבְדְּךָ הַכֶּלֶב, כִּי יַעֲשֶׂה הַדָּבָר הַגָּדוֹל הַזֶּה; וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלִישָׁע, הִרְאַנִי יְהוָה אֹתְךָ מֶלֶךְ עַל-אֲרָם.
vayomer khaza'el--ki mah avdekha hakelev, ki ya'aseh hadavar hagadol hazeh; vayomer Elisha, hirani YHWH otkha melekh al-aram.
And Hazael said: 'But what is thy servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?' And Elisha answered: 'The LORD hath shown me that thou shalt be king over Aram.'
14.
וַיֵּלֶךְ מֵאֵת אֱלִישָׁע, וַיָּבֹא אֶל-אֲדֹנָיו, וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ, מָה-אָמַר לְךָ אֱלִישָׁע; וַיֹּאמֶר, אָמַר לִי חָיֹה תִחְיֶה.
vayelekh me'et Elisha, vayavo el-adonav, vayomer lo, mah-amar lekha Elisha; vayomer, amar li khayoh tikhiyeh.
Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him: 'What said Elisha to thee?' And he answered: 'He told me that thou wouldest surely recover.'
15.
וַיְהִי מִמָּחֳרָת, וַיִּקַּח הַמַּכְבֵּר וַיִּטְבֹּל בַּמַּיִם, וַיִּפְרֹשׂ עַל-פָּנָיו, וַיָּמֹת; וַיִּמְלֹךְ חֲזָהאֵל, תַּחְתָּיו.
vayhi mimakhorat, vayikakh hamakhber vayitbol bamayim, vayifros al-panav, vayamot; vayimlok Khazael, takhtav.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took the coverlet, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died; and Hazael reigned in his stead.
16.
וּבִשְׁנַת חָמֵשׁ, לְיוֹרָם בֶּן-אַחְאָב מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל, וִיהוֹשָׁפָט, מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה--מָלַךְ יְהוֹרָם בֶּן-יְהוֹשָׁפָט, מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה.
uvishnat khamesh, leyoram ben-Akh'av melekh Yisrael, vihoshafat, melekh Yehudah--malakh Yehoram ben-Yehoshafat, melekh Yehudah.
And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being the king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
17.
בֶּן-שְׁלֹשִׁים וּשְׁתַּיִם שָׁנָה, הָיָה בְמָלְכוֹ; וּשְׁמֹנֶה שנה שָׁנִים, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם.
ben-sheloshim ushtayim shanah, hayah vemalKho; ushmoneh shanah shanim, malakh biYerushalayim.
Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
18.
וַיֵּלֶךְ בְּדֶרֶךְ מַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשׂוּ בֵּית אַחְאָב--כִּי בַּת-אַחְאָב, הָיְתָה-לּוֹ לְאִשָּׁה; וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה.
vayelekh bederekh malkhey yisrael ka'asher ashu beyt ach'av ki vat-ach'av hayetah-lo le'ishah vaya'as hara be'eynei YHWH.
And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
19.
וְלֹא-אָבָה יְהוָה לְהַשְׁחִית אֶת-יְהוּדָה, לְמַעַן דָּוִד עַבְדּוֹ: כַּאֲשֶׁר אָמַר-לוֹ, לָתֵת לוֹ נִיר לְבָנָיו--כָּל-הַיָּמִים.
velo-avah YHWH lehashchit et-yehudah lema'an david avdo ka'asher amar-lo latet lo nir levanav kol-hayamim.
Howbeit the LORD would not destroy Judah, for David His servant's sake, as He promised him to give unto him a lamp and to his children alway.
20.
בְּיָמָיו פָּשַׁע אֱדוֹם, מִתַּחַת יַד-יְהוּדָה; וַיַּמְלִכוּ עֲלֵיהֶם, מֶלֶךְ.
beyamiv pasha edom mitachat yad-yehudah vayamlixu aleihem melekh.
In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
21.
וַיַּעֲבֹר יוֹרָם צָעִירָה, וְכָל-הָרֶכֶב עִמּוֹ; וַיְהִי-הוּא קָם לַיְלָה, וַיַּכֶּה אֶת-אֱדוֹם הַסֹּבֵיב אֵלָיו וְאֵת שָׂרֵי הָרֶכֶב, וַיָּנָס הָעָם, לְאֹהָלָיו.
vaya'avor yoram tza'irah vekhal-harekhev immo vayhi-hu kam laylah vayakeh et-edom hassoveiv elav ve'et sarei harekhev vayanas ha'am le'ohalav.
Then Joram passed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him; and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites that compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.
22.
וַיִּפְשַׁע אֱדוֹם, מִתַּחַת יַד-יְהוּדָה, עַד, הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה; אָז תִּפְשַׁע לִבְנָה, בָּעֵת הַהִיא.
vayifsha Edom, mittakhat yad-Yehudah, ad, hayyom hazzeh; az tifsha Livnah, ba'et hahi.
Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, unto this day. Then did Libnah revolt at the same time.
23.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יוֹרָם, וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה: הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים, עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים--לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה.
veyeter divrei Yoram, vekhal-asher asah: halo-hem ketuvim, al-sefer divrei hayyamim--lemalkhei Yehudah.
And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
24.
וַיִּשְׁכַּב יוֹרָם עִם-אֲבֹתָיו, וַיִּקָּבֵר עִם-אֲבֹתָיו בְּעִיר דָּוִד; וַיִּמְלֹךְ אֲחַזְיָהוּ בְנוֹ, תַּחְתָּיו.
vayishkav Yoram im-avotav, vayyikaver im-avotav be'ir David; vayimlokh Akhazyahu veno, takhtav.
And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
25.
בִּשְׁנַת שְׁתֵּים-עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה, לְיוֹרָם בֶּן-אַחְאָב מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל, מָלַךְ אֲחַזְיָהוּ בֶן-יְהוֹרָם, מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה.
bishnat shtem-esreh shanah, leYoram ben-Akhav melekh Yisrael, malakh Akhazyahu ben-Yehoram, melekh Yehudah.
In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.
26.
בֶּן-עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁתַּיִם שָׁנָה, אֲחַזְיָהוּ בְמָלְכוֹ, וְשָׁנָה אַחַת, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ עֲתַלְיָהוּ, בַּת-עָמְרִי מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל.
ben-esrim ushtayim shanah, akhazyahu vemalokho, veshanah akhat, malakh birushalayim; veshem immo atalyahu, bat-omri melekh yisrael.
Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri king of Israel.
27.
וַיֵּלֶךְ, בְּדֶרֶךְ בֵּית אַחְאָב, וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה, כְּבֵית אַחְאָב: כִּי חֲתַן בֵּית-אַחְאָב, הוּא.
vayelev, bederekh beit akhav, vayaas hara beenei YHWH, kebeit akhav: ki khatan beit-akhav, hu.
And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab; for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
28.
וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶת-יוֹרָם בֶּן-אַחְאָב, לַמִּלְחָמָה עִם-חֲזָאֵל מֶלֶךְ-אֲרָם--בְּרָמֹת גִּלְעָד; וַיַּכּוּ אֲרַמִּים, אֶת-יוֹרָם.
vayelev et-yoram ben-akhav, lamilhamah im-khazael melekh-aram--beramot gilad; vayaku aramim, et-yoram.
And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth-gilead; and the Arameans wounded Joram.
29.
וַיָּשָׁב יוֹרָם הַמֶּלֶךְ לְהִתְרַפֵּא בְיִזְרְעֶאל, מִן-הַמַּכִּים אֲשֶׁר יַכֻּהוּ אֲרַמִּים בָּרָמָה, בְּהִלָּחֲמוֹ, אֶת-חֲזָהאֵל מֶלֶךְ אֲרָם; וַאֲחַזְיָהוּ בֶן-יְהוֹרָם מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה, יָרַד לִרְאוֹת אֶת-יוֹרָם בֶּן-אַחְאָב בְּיִזְרְעֶאל--כִּי-חֹלֶה הוּא.
vayashav yoram hamelekh lehitrape beyizreel, min-hamakkim asher yakkuhu aramim baramah, behilahakho, et-khazhael melekh aram; vaakhavyahu ben-yehoram melekh yehuda, yarad lirot et-yoram ben-akhav beyizreel--ki-kholeh hu.
And king Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Arameans had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
