1.
בִּשְׁנַת עֶשְׂרִים וָשֶׁבַע שָׁנָה, לְיָרָבְעָם מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל, מָלַךְ עֲזַרְיָה בֶן-אֲמַצְיָה, מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה.
bishnat esrim vesheva shanah, leYarov'am melekh Yisrael, malakh Azaryah ven-Amatyah, melekh Yehudah.
In the twenty and seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah to reign.
2.
בֶּן-שֵׁשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה, הָיָה בְמָלְכוֹ, וַחֲמִשִּׁים וּשְׁתַּיִם שָׁנָה, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ, יְכָלְיָהוּ מִירוּשָׁלִָם.
ben-shesh esreh shanah, hayah vemalKho, vakhamishim ushtayim shanah, malakh biRushalayim; veshem immo, Yekhalyahu miRushalayim.
Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned two and fifty years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
3.
וַיַּעַשׂ הַיָּשָׁר, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה, כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה, אֲמַצְיָהוּ אָבִיו.
vaya'as hayashar, be'einei YHWH, kekhol asher-asah, Amatyahu aviv.
And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.
4.
רַק הַבָּמוֹת, לֹא-סָרוּ: עוֹד הָעָם מְזַבְּחִים וּמְקַטְּרִים, בַּבָּמוֹת.
Rak habamot, lo-saru: od ha'am mezabchim umekatterim, babbamot.
Howbeit the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and offered in the high places.
5.
וַיְנַגַּע יְהוָה אֶת-הַמֶּלֶךְ, וַיְהִי מְצֹרָע עַד-יוֹם מֹתוֹ, וַיֵּשֶׁב, בְּבֵית הַחָפְשִׁית; וְיוֹתָם בֶּן-הַמֶּלֶךְ עַל-הַבַּיִת, שֹׁפֵט אֶת-עַם הָאָרֶץ.
Vaynaggac YHWH et-hammelekh, vayhi metzorac ad-yom moto, vayyesheb, beveit hachafshit; veyotam ben-hammelekh al-habbayit, shofet et-am ha'aretz.
And the LORD smote the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a house set apart. And Jotham the king's son was over the household, judging the people of the land.
6.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי עֲזַרְיָהוּ, וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה: הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים, עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים--לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה.
Veyeter divrei Azaryahu, vekhol-asher ashah: halo-hem ketuvim, al-sefer divrei hayyamim--lemalkhei Yehudah.
Now the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
7.
וַיִּשְׁכַּב עֲזַרְיָה עִם-אֲבֹתָיו, וַיִּקְבְּרוּ אֹתוֹ עִם-אֲבֹתָיו בְּעִיר דָּוִד; וַיִּמְלֹךְ יוֹתָם בְּנוֹ, תַּחְתָּיו.
Vayishkav Azaryah im-avotav, vayyikberu oto im-avotav be'ir David; vayyimlok Yotam beno, tachtav.
And Azariah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David; and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
8.
בִּשְׁנַת שְׁלֹשִׁים וּשְׁמֹנֶה שָׁנָה, לַעֲזַרְיָהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה: מָלַךְ זְכַרְיָהוּ בֶן-יָרָבְעָם עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן--שִׁשָּׁה חֳדָשִׁים.
bishnat shloshim ushmoneh shanah, la'azaryahu melekh yehudah: malakh zekharyahu ven-yarav'am al-yisrael, beshomron--shishah chodashim.
In the thirty and eighth year of Azariah king of Judah did Zechariah the son of Jeroboam reign over Israel in Samaria six months.
9.
וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה, כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשׂוּ אֲבֹתָיו: לֹא סָר, מֵחַטֹּאות יָרָבְעָם בֶּן-נְבָט, אֲשֶׁר הֶחֱטִיא, אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל.
vaya'as hara' be'einei YHWH, ka'asher asu avotav: lo sar, mechatotay-yarav'am ben-nevat, asher hechtii, et-yisrael.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers had done; he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin.
10.
וַיִּקְשֹׁר עָלָיו שַׁלֻּם בֶּן-יָבֵשׁ, וַיַּכֵּהוּ קָבָל-עָם וַיְמִיתֵהוּ; וַיִּמְלֹךְ, תַּחְתָּיו.
vayikshor alav shalum ben-yavesh, vayakehu kaval-am vaymitehu; vayimlok, tachtav.
And Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and smote him before the people, and slew him, and reigned in his stead.
11.
וְיֶתֶר, דִּבְרֵי זְכַרְיָה: הִנָּם כְּתוּבִים, עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים--לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
veyeter, divrei zekharyah: hinnam ketuvim, al-sefer divrei hayamim--lemalchei yisrael.
Now the rest of the acts of Zechariah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
12.
הוּא דְבַר-יְהוָה, אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר אֶל-יֵהוּא לֵאמֹר, בְּנֵי רְבִיעִים, יֵשְׁבוּ לְךָ עַל-כִּסֵּא יִשְׂרָאֵל; וַיְהִי-כֵן.
hu devar-YHWH, asher diber el-yehu lemor, bene revi'im, yeshvu lekha al-kise Yisrael; vayhi-ken.
This was the word of the LORD which He spoke unto Jehu, saying: 'Thy sons to the fourth generation shall sit upon the throne of Israel.' And so it came to pass.
13.
שַׁלּוּם בֶּן-יָבֵישׁ, מָלַךְ, בִּשְׁנַת שְׁלֹשִׁים וָתֵשַׁע שָׁנָה, לְעֻזִּיָּה מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה; וַיִּמְלֹךְ יֶרַח-יָמִים, בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן.
Shallum ben-yavesh, malakh, bishnat sheloshim vatesha shanah, le'uzziyah melekh Yehudah; vayimlok yerach-yamim, beshomron.
Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the nine and thirtieth year of Uzziah king of Judah; and he reigned the space of a month in Samaria.
14.
וַיַּעַל מְנַחֵם בֶּן-גָּדִי מִתִּרְצָה, וַיָּבֹא שֹׁמְרוֹן, וַיַּךְ אֶת-שַׁלּוּם בֶּן-יָבֵישׁ, בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן; וַיְמִיתֵהוּ, וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו.
vaya'al menahem ben-gadi mittirtah, vayavo shomron, vayakh et-shallum ben-yavesh, beshomron; vaymitehu, vayimlok takhtav.
And Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria, and smote Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and slew him, and reigned in his stead.
15.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי שַׁלּוּם, וְקִשְׁרוֹ אֲשֶׁר קָשָׁר: הִנָּם כְּתוּבִים, עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים--לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
veyeter divrei shallum, vekishro asher kashar: hinam ketuvim, al-sefer divrei hayamim--lemalkhei Yisrael.
Now the rest of the acts of Shallum, and his conspiracy which he made, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
16.
אָז יַכֶּה-מְנַחֵם אֶת-תִּפְסַח וְאֶת-כָּל-אֲשֶׁר-בָּהּ וְאֶת-גְּבוּלֶיהָ, מִתִּרְצָה--כִּי לֹא פָתַח, וַיַּךְ; אֵת כָּל-הֶהָרוֹתֶיהָ, בִּקֵּעַ.
Az yakkeh-menakhem et-tifsalh ve'et-kol-asher-bah ve'et-gevuleha, mittirtah--ki lo patakh, vayakh; et kol-heharoteha, bikkea.
Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the borders thereof, from Tirzah; because they opened not to him, therefore he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.
17.
בִּשְׁנַת שְׁלֹשִׁים וָתֵשַׁע שָׁנָה, לַעֲזַרְיָה מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה: מָלַךְ מְנַחֵם בֶּן-גָּדִי עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל, עֶשֶׂר שָׁנִים--בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן.
Bishnat sheloshim vatesha shanah, la'azaryah melekh yehudah: malakh menakhem ben-gadi al-yisrael, eser shanim--beshomron.
In the nine and thirtieth year of Azariah king of Judah began Menahem the son of Gadi to reign over Israel, and reigned ten years in Samaria.
18.
וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה: לֹא סָר מֵעַל חַטֹּאות יָרָבְעָם בֶּן-נְבָט, אֲשֶׁר-הֶחֱטִיא אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל--כָּל-יָמָיו.
Vaya'as hara, be'einei YHWH: lo sar me'al khattot yarav'am ben-nevat, asher-hekhtii et-yisrael--kol-yamayv.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not all his days from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin.
19.
בָּא פוּל מֶלֶךְ-אַשּׁוּר, עַל-הָאָרֶץ, וַיִּתֵּן מְנַחֵם לְפוּל, אֶלֶף כִּכַּר-כָּסֶף--לִהְיוֹת יָדָיו אִתּוֹ, לְהַחֲזִיק הַמַּמְלָכָה בְּיָדוֹ.
Ba ful melekh-ashur, al-ha'aretz, vayitten menakhem leful, elef kikkar-kasef--lihyot yadav itto, lehakhazik hammamlakah beyado.
There came against the land Pul the king of Assyria; and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.
20.
וַיֹּצֵא מְנַחֵם אֶת-הַכֶּסֶף עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל, עַל כָּל-גִּבּוֹרֵי הַחַיִל, לָתֵת לְמֶלֶךְ אַשּׁוּר, חֲמִשִּׁים שְׁקָלִים כֶּסֶף לְאִישׁ אֶחָד; וַיָּשָׁב מֶלֶךְ אַשּׁוּר, וְלֹא-עָמַד שָׁם בָּאָרֶץ.
vayotze menakhem et-hakhesef al-yisrael, al kol-giborei hakhayil, latet lemelekh asshur, khamishim shekalim kesef le'ish ekhad; vayashav melekh asshur, velo-amad sham ba'aretz.
And Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and stayed not there in the land.
21.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי מְנַחֵם, וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה: הֲלוֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים, עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים--לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
veyeter divrei menakhem, vekhal-asher asah: halo-hem ketuvim, al-sefer divrei hayamim--lemalkhei yisrael.

22.
וַיִּשְׁכַּב מְנַחֵם, עִם-אֲבֹתָיו; וַיִּמְלֹךְ פְּקַחְיָה בְנוֹ, תַּחְתָּיו.
vayshkav menakhem, im-avotayiv; vayimlok pekhakhyah veno, takhtayiv.
And Menahem slept with his fathers; and Pekahiah his son reigned in his stead.
23.
בִּשְׁנַת חֲמִשִּׁים שָׁנָה, לַעֲזַרְיָה מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה: מָלַךְ פְּקַחְיָה בֶן-מְנַחֵם עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן--שְׁנָתָיִם.
bishnat khamishim shanah, la'azaryah melekh yehudah: malakh pekhakhyah ven-menakhem al-yisrael, beshomron--shenatayim.
In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekahiah the son of Menahem began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned two years.
24.
וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה: לֹא סָר, מֵחַטֹּאות יָרָבְעָם בֶּן-נְבָט, אֲשֶׁר הֶחֱטִיא, אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל.
vayya'as ha'ra, be'einei YHWH: lo sar, me'khatto'at Yarov'am ben-Nevat, asher hekhtii, et-Yisrael.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin.
25.
וַיִּקְשֹׁר עָלָיו פֶּקַח בֶּן-רְמַלְיָהוּ שָׁלִישׁוֹ, וַיַּכֵּהוּ בְשֹׁמְרוֹן בְּאַרְמוֹן בֵּית-מלך הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶת-אַרְגֹּב וְאֶת-הָאַרְיֵה, וְעִמּוֹ חֲמִשִּׁים אִישׁ, מִבְּנֵי גִלְעָדִים; וַיְמִתֵהוּ, וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו.
vayyiqshor alayv Peqakh ben-Remalyahu shalisho, vayyakehu veshomron be'armon beit-melekh hammelekh et-Argov ve'et-ha'aryeh, ve'immo khamishim ish, mibbenei Gil'adim; vaymitehu, vayymlokh takhtav.
And Pekah the son of Remaliah, his captain, conspired against him, and smote him in Samaria, in the castle of the king's house, by Argob and by Arieh; and with him were fifty men of the Gileadites; and he slew him, and reigned in his stead.
26.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי פְקַחְיָה, וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה: הִנָּם כְּתוּבִים, עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים--לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
veyeter divrei Peqakhyyah, vekhol-asher asha: hinnam ketuvim, al-sefer divrei hayyamim--lemalkhei Yisrael.
Now the rest of the acts of Pekahiah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
27.
בִּשְׁנַת חֲמִשִּׁים וּשְׁתַּיִם שָׁנָה, לַעֲזַרְיָה מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה: מָלַךְ פֶּקַח בֶּן-רְמַלְיָהוּ עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן--עֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה.
bishnat khamishim ushtayim shanah, la'azaryyah melekh Yehuda: malakh Peqakh ben-Remalyahu al-Yisrael, beshomron--esrim shanah.
In the two and fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekah the son of Remaliah began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned twenty years.
28.
וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה: לֹא סָר, מִן-חַטֹּאות יָרָבְעָם בֶּן-נְבָט, אֲשֶׁר הֶחֱטִיא, אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל.
vayya'as ha'ra, be'einei YHWH: lo sar, min-khatto'ot Yarov'am ben-Nevat, asher hekhtii, et-Yisrael.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin.
29.
בִּימֵי פֶּקַח מֶלֶךְ-יִשְׂרָאֵל, בָּא תִּגְלַת פִּלְאֶסֶר מֶלֶךְ אַשּׁוּר, וַיִּקַּח אֶת-עִיּוֹן וְאֶת-אָבֵל בֵּית-מַעֲכָה וְאֶת-יָנוֹחַ וְאֶת-קֶדֶשׁ וְאֶת-חָצוֹר וְאֶת-הַגִּלְעָד וְאֶת-הַגָּלִילָה, כֹּל אֶרֶץ נַפְתָּלִי; וַיַּגְלֵם, אַשּׁוּרָה.
bimei Pekakh melekh-Yisrael, ba Tiglat Pil'eser melekh Ashur, vayyikkakh et-Iyon ve'et-Avel beit-Ma'akhah ve'et-Yanokhi ve'et-Kedesh ve'et-Khatzor ve'et-haGil'ad ve'et-haGalilah, kol eretz Naftali; vayyaglem, Ashurah.
In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abel-beth-maacah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he carried them captive to Assyria.
30.
וַיִּקְשָׁר-קֶשֶׁר הוֹשֵׁעַ בֶּן-אֵלָה, עַל-פֶּקַח בֶּן-רְמַלְיָהוּ, וַיַּכֵּהוּ וַיְמִיתֵהוּ, וַיִּמְלֹךְ תַּחְתָּיו--בִּשְׁנַת עֶשְׂרִים, לְיוֹתָם בֶּן-עֻזִּיָּה.
vayyikshar-kesher Hoshea ben-Elah, al-Pekakh ben-Remalyahu, vayyakehu vaymitehu, vayyamlokh takhtav--bishnat esrim, leYotam ben-Uziyah.
And Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and smote him, and slew him, and reigned in his stead, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.
31.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי-פֶקַח, וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה: הִנָּם כְּתוּבִים, עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים--לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
veyeter divrei-Pekakh, vekhal-asher ashah: hinnam ketuvim, al-sefer divrei hayyamim--leMalkhei Yisrael.

בִּשְׁנַת שְׁתַּיִם, לְפֶקַח בֶּן-רְמַלְיָהוּ מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל, מָלַךְ יוֹתָם בֶּן-עֻזִּיָּהוּ, מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה.
bishenat shettayim, lefekhakh ben-remalyahu melekh yisrael, malakh yotam ben-uzziyahu, melekh yehudah.
In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign.
33.
בֶּן-עֶשְׂרִים וְחָמֵשׁ שָׁנָה, הָיָה בְמָלְכוֹ, וְשֵׁשׁ-עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ, יְרוּשָׁא בַּת-צָדוֹק.
ben-esrim vekhamesh shanah, hayah vemalekho, veshesh-esreh shanah, malakh birushalim; veshem imו, yerusha bat-tzadok.
Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jerusha the daughter of Zadok.
34.
וַיַּעַשׂ הַיָּשָׁר, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה: כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה עֻזִּיָּהוּ אָבִיו, עָשָׂה.
vayaas hayashar, beeine yHWH: kekhol asher-asah uziyahu aviv, asah.
And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD; he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.
35.
רַק הַבָּמוֹת, לֹא סָרוּ--עוֹד הָעָם מְזַבְּחִים וּמְקַטְּרִים, בַּבָּמוֹת; הוּא, בָּנָה אֶת-שַׁעַר בֵּית-יְהוָה--הָעֶלְיוֹן.
rak habamot, lo saru--od haam mezabchim umekatterim, babamot; hu, banah et-shaar beit-yHWH--haelyon.
Howbeit the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and offered in the high places. He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD.
36.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יוֹתָם, אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה: הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים, עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים--לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה.
veyeter divrei Yotam, asher asah: halo-hem ketuvim, al-sefer divrei hayamim--lemalkhei Yehudah.
Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
37.
בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם--הֵחֵל יְהוָה לְהַשְׁלִיחַ בִּיהוּדָה, רְצִין מֶלֶךְ אֲרָם; וְאֵת, פֶּקַח בֶּן-רְמַלְיָהוּ.
bayamim hahem--hehel YHWH lehashliach biYehudah, retzin melekh Aram; ve'et, Pekah ben-Remalyahu.
In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Aram, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.
38.
וַיִּשְׁכַּב יוֹתָם, עִם-אֲבֹתָיו, וַיִּקָּבֵר עִם-אֲבֹתָיו, בְּעִיר דָּוִד אָבִיו; וַיִּמְלֹךְ אָחָז בְּנוֹ, תַּחְתָּיו.
vayishkav Yotam, im-avotav, vayikaver im-avotav, be'ir David aviv; vayimlok Ahakh beno, takhtav.
And Jotham slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
