בֶּן-עֶשְׂרִים וְחָמֵשׁ שָׁנָה, יוֹתָם בְּמָלְכוֹ, וְשֵׁשׁ-עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ, יְרוּשָׁה בַּת-צָדוֹק.
ben-esrim vakhamesh shanah, Yotam bemalKho, veshesh-esreh shanah, malakh biyrushalaim; veshem imo, Yerushah bat-Tzadok.
Jotham was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.
2.
וַיַּעַשׂ הַיָּשָׁר בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה, כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה עֻזִּיָּהוּ אָבִיו--רַק, לֹא-בָא אֶל-הֵיכַל יְהוָה; וְעוֹד הָעָם, מַשְׁחִיתִים.
vayaas hayashar beenei YHWH, kekhol asher-asah Uziyahu aviv--rak, lo-va el-heykal YHWH; veod haam, mashkhitim.
And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that his father Uzziah had done; howbeit he entered not into the temple of the LORD. And the people did yet corruptly.
3.
הוּא, בָּנָה אֶת-שַׁעַר בֵּית-יְהוָה--הָעֶלְיוֹן; וּבְחוֹמַת הָעֹפֶל בָּנָה, לָרֹב.
hu, banah et-shaar beit-YHWH--haelyon; uvkhomat haofel banah, larov.
He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.
4.
וְעָרִים בָּנָה, בְּהַר-יְהוּדָה; וּבֶחֳרָשִׁים בָּנָה, בִּירָנִיּוֹת וּמִגְדָּלִים.
ve'arim banah, behar-yehudah; uvehorashim banah, biraniyot umigdalim.
Moreover he built cities in the hill-country of Judah, and in the forest he built castles and towers.
5.
וְהוּא נִלְחַם עִם-מֶלֶךְ בְּנֵי-עַמּוֹן, וַיֶּחֱזַק עֲלֵיהֶם, וַיִּתְּנוּ-לוֹ בְנֵי-עַמּוֹן בַּשָּׁנָה הַהִיא מֵאָה כִּכַּר-כֶּסֶף, וַעֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים כֹּרִים חִטִּים וּשְׂעוֹרִים עֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים: זֹאת, הֵשִׁיבוּ לוֹ בְּנֵי עַמּוֹן, וּבַשָּׁנָה הַשֵּׁנִית, וְהַשְּׁלִשִׁית.
vehu nilham im-melekh bene-amon, vayehrozaq alehem, vayitenu-lo vene-amon bashanah hahi me'ah kikar-kesef, va'aseret alafim korim hittim use'orim aseret alafim: zot, heshivu lo bene-amon, uvashanah hashenit, vehashelishit.
He fought also with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. And the children of Ammon gave him the same year a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. So much did the children of Ammon render unto him, in the second year also, and in the third.
6.
וַיִּתְחַזֵּק, יוֹתָם: כִּי הֵכִין דְּרָכָיו, לִפְנֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו.
vayithazeq, yotam: ki hekhin derakhav, lifnei YHWH Elohav.
So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God.
7.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יוֹתָם, וְכָל-מִלְחֲמֹתָיו וּדְרָכָיו--הִנָּם כְּתוּבִים, עַל-סֵפֶר מַלְכֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל וִיהוּדָה.
veyeter divrei yotam, vekhal-milhamotav uderakhav--hinnam ketuvim, al-sefer malkhei-yisrael vihudah.
Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
8.
בֶּן-עֶשְׂרִים וְחָמֵשׁ שָׁנָה, הָיָה בְמָלְכוֹ; וְשֵׁשׁ-עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם.
ben-esrim vekhamesh shanah, hayah ve-malkho; ve-shesh-esreh shanah, malakh bi-Yerushalayim.
He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.
9.
וַיִּשְׁכַּב יוֹתָם עִם-אֲבֹתָיו, וַיִּקְבְּרוּ אֹתוֹ בְּעִיר דָּוִיד; וַיִּמְלֹךְ אָחָז בְּנוֹ, תַּחְתָּיו.
va-yishkav Yotam im-avotav, va-yikveru oto be-ir David; va-yimlok Akhaz beno, takhtav.
And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David; and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
