1.
וַיָּבִיאוּ, אֶת-אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים, וַיַּצִּיגוּ אֹתוֹ, בְּתוֹךְ הָאֹהֶל אֲשֶׁר נָטָה-לוֹ דָּוִיד; וַיַּקְרִיבוּ עֹלוֹת וּשְׁלָמִים, לִפְנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים.
vayavi'u, et-aron haElohim, vayyatzigu oto, betokh ha'ohel asher nata-lo David; vayyaqrivu olot ushlamim, lifnei haElohim.
And they brought in the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before God.
2.
וַיְכַל דָּוִיד, מֵהַעֲלוֹת הָעֹלָה וְהַשְּׁלָמִים; וַיְבָרֶךְ אֶת-הָעָם, בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה.
vaykhal David, meha'alot ha'olah vehash-shlamim; vayvarekh et-ha'am, beshem YHWH.
And when David had made an end of offering the burnt-offering and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
3.
וַיְחַלֵּק לְכָל-אִישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל, מֵאִישׁ וְעַד-אִשָּׁה--לְאִישׁ, כִּכַּר-לֶחֶם, וְאֶשְׁפָּר, וַאֲשִׁישָׁה.
vaykhalek lekhol-ish Yisrael, me'ish ve'ad-ishah--le'ish, kikkar-lekhem, ve'eshpar, va'ashishah.
And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a cake made in a pan, and a sweet cake.
4.
וַיִּתֵּן לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן יְהוָה, מִן-הַלְוִיִּם--מְשָׁרְתִים; וּלְהַזְכִּיר וּלְהוֹדוֹת וּלְהַלֵּל, לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
vayyiten lifnei aron YHWH, min-halviyim--mesharatim; ulehazkir ulehodot ulehallel, laYHWH Elohei Yisrael.
And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to celebrate and to thank and praise the LORD, the God of Israel:
5.
אָסָף הָרֹאשׁ, וּמִשְׁנֵהוּ זְכַרְיָה; יְעִיאֵל וּשְׁמִירָמוֹת וִיחִיאֵל וּמַתִּתְיָה וֶאֱלִיאָב וּבְנָיָהוּ וְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם וִיעִיאֵל, בִּכְלֵי נְבָלִים וּבְכִנֹּרוֹת, וְאָסָף, בַּמְצִלְתַּיִם מַשְׁמִיעַ.
Asaf harosh, umishnehu Zekharyah; Ye'iel ushmiramot vikhiyel umattityah ve'Eliyav uVenayahu ve'Oved Edom viYe'iel, bikhlei nevalim uvekinnorot, ve'Asaf, bamtziltayim mashmi'a.
Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, with psalteries and with harps; and Asaph with cymbals, sounding aloud;
6.
וּבְנָיָהוּ וְיַחֲזִיאֵל, הַכֹּהֲנִים--בַּחֲצֹצְרוֹת תָּמִיד, לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן בְּרִית-הָאֱלֹהִים.
uVenayahu veYakhaziel, hakkohanim--bakhatzotrot tamid, lifnei aron berit-haElohim.
and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.
7.
בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא, אָז נָתַן דָּוִיד בָּרֹאשׁ, לְהֹדוֹת, לַיהוָה--בְּיַד-אָסָף, וְאֶחָיו.
bayom hahu, az natan David barosh, lehodot, laAdonai--beyad-Asaf, ve'echav.
Then on that day did David first ordain to give thanks unto the LORD, by the hand of Asaph and his brethren.
8.
הוֹדוּ לַיהוָה, קִרְאוּ בִשְׁמוֹ-- הוֹדִיעוּ בָעַמִּים, עֲלִילֹתָיו.
hodu laAdonai, kir'u vishmo-- hodi'u va'amim, alilotav.
O give thanks unto the LORD, call upon His name; make known His doings among the peoples.
9.
שִׁירוּ לוֹ, זַמְּרוּ-לוֹ-- שִׂיחוּ, בְּכָל-נִפְלְאֹתָיו.
shiru lo, zamru-lo-- sichu, bechol-nifle'otav.
Sing unto Him, sing praises unto Him; speak ye of all His marvellous works.
10.
הִתְהַלְלוּ, בְּשֵׁם קָדְשׁוֹ-- יִשְׂמַח, לֵב מְבַקְשֵׁי יְהוָה.
hithallu, beshem kodsho-- yismach, lev mevakshey YHWH.
Glory ye in His holy name; let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
11.
דִּרְשׁוּ יְהוָה, וְעֻזּוֹ-- בַּקְּשׁוּ פָנָיו, תָּמִיד.
dirshu YHWH, ve'uzzo-- bakkeshu fanav, tamid.
Seek ye the LORD and His strength; seek His face continually.
12.
זִכְרוּ, נִפְלְאֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה-- מֹפְתָיו, וּמִשְׁפְּטֵי-פִיהוּ.
zikhru, nifle'otav asher asah-- mofetav, umishpetei-fihu.
Remember His marvellous works that He hath done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth;
13.
זֶרַע, יִשְׂרָאֵל עַבְדּוֹ-- בְּנֵי יַעֲקֹב, בְּחִירָיו.
zerac, Yisrael avdo-- benei Ya'akov, bekhirav.
O ye seed of Israel His servant, ye children of Jacob, His chosen ones.
14.
הוּא, יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ-- בְּכָל-הָאָרֶץ, מִשְׁפָּטָיו.
hu, YHWH Eloheinu-- bekhol-ha'aretz, mishpatav.
He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth.
15.
זִכְרוּ לְעוֹלָם, בְּרִיתוֹ-- דָּבָר צִוָּה, לְאֶלֶף דּוֹר.
zikhru le'olam berito davar tzivwah le'elef dor
Remember His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations;
16.
אֲשֶׁר כָּרַת, אֶת-אַבְרָהָם-- וּשְׁבוּעָתוֹ, לְיִצְחָק.
asher karat et-avraham ushvu'ato leyitzchak
[The covenant] which He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac;
17.
וַיַּעֲמִידֶהָ לְיַעֲקֹב, לְחֹק-- לְיִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּרִית עוֹלָם.
vaya'amideha leya'akov lechok leyisrael berit olam
And He established it unto Jacob for a statute, to Israel for an everlasting covenant;
18.
לֵאמֹר, לְךָ אֶתֵּן אֶרֶץ-כְּנָעַן-- חֶבֶל, נַחֲלַתְכֶם.
lemor lecha eten eretz-kena'an chevel nachalatchem
Saying: 'Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.'
19.
בִּהְיוֹתְכֶם, מְתֵי מִסְפָּר-- כִּמְעַט, וְגָרִים בָּהּ.
bihyotekhem, metei mispar-- kim'at, vegarim bah.
When ye were but a few men in number, yea, very few, and sojourners in it,
20.
וַיִּתְהַלְּכוּ, מִגּוֹי אֶל-גּוֹי-- וּמִמַּמְלָכָה, אֶל-עַם אַחֵר.
vayithalhaku, migoy el-goy-- umimamlakhah, el-am acher.
And when they went about from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,
21.
לֹא-הִנִּיחַ לְאִישׁ, לְעָשְׁקָם-- וַיּוֹכַח עֲלֵיהֶם, מְלָכִים.
lo-hiniach le'ish, le'ashkam-- vayokhach alehem, melakhim.
He suffered no man to do them wrong, yea, for their sake He reproved kings:
22.
אַל-תִּגְּעוּ, בִּמְשִׁיחָי-- וּבִנְבִיאַי, אַל-תָּרֵעוּ.
al-tige'u, bimshichay-- uvinvi'ay, al-tare'u.
'Touch not Mine anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.'
23.
שִׁירוּ לַיהוָה, כָּל-הָאָרֶץ-- בַּשְּׂרוּ מִיּוֹם-אֶל-יוֹם, יְשׁוּעָתוֹ.
Shiru laYHWH, kol-ha'aretz-- basru miyom-elyom, yeshu'ato.
Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; proclaim His salvation from day to day.
24.
סַפְּרוּ בַגּוֹיִם, אֶת-כְּבוֹדוֹ-- בְּכָל-הָעַמִּים, נִפְלְאֹתָיו.
Sapru vaggoyim, et-kvodo-- bekhol-ha'amim, nifle'otav.
Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous works among all the peoples.
25.
כִּי גָדוֹל יְהוָה וּמְהֻלָּל, מְאֹד-- וְנוֹרָא הוּא, עַל-כָּל-אֱלֹהִים.
Ki gadol YHWH umehullal, me'od-- venora hu, al-kol-elohim.
For great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods.
26.
כִּי כָּל-אֱלֹהֵי הָעַמִּים, אֱלִילִים-- וַיהוָה, שָׁמַיִם עָשָׂה.
Ki kol-elohei ha'amim, elilim-- vaYHWH, shamayim asah.
For all the gods of the peoples are things of nought; but the LORD made the heavens.
27.
הוֹד וְהָדָר, לְפָנָיו-- עֹז וְחֶדְוָה, בִּמְקֹמוֹ.
hod vehadar, lefanav-- oz vechedvah, bimkomo.
Honour and majesty are before Him; strength and gladness are in His place.
28.
הָבוּ לַיהוָה, מִשְׁפְּחוֹת עַמִּים-- הָבוּ לַיהוָה, כָּבוֹד וָעֹז.
havu laYHWH, mishpechot amim-- havu laYHWH, kavod va'oz.
Ascribe unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the peoples, ascribe unto the LORD glory and strength.
29.
הָבוּ לַיהוָה, כְּבוֹד שְׁמוֹ; שְׂאוּ מִנְחָה, וּבֹאוּ לְפָנָיו-- הִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לַיהוָה, בְּהַדְרַת-קֹדֶשׁ.
havu laYHWH, kevod shemo; se'u minchah, ubo'u lefanav-- hishtachavu laYHWH, behadrat-kodesh.
Ascribe unto the LORD the glory due unto His name; bring an offering, and come before Him; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
30.
חִילוּ מִלְּפָנָיו, כָּל-הָאָרֶץ-- אַף-תִּכּוֹן תֵּבֵל, בַּל-תִּמּוֹט.
chilu millefanav, kol-ha'aretz-- af-tikkon tevel, bal-timmot.
Tremble before Him, all the earth; the world also is established that it cannot be moved.
31.
יִשְׂמְחוּ הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְתָגֵל הָאָרֶץ-- וְיֹאמְרוּ בַגּוֹיִם, יְהוָה מָלָךְ.
yismekhu hashamayim, vetagel ha'aretz-- ve'yomeru vagoyim, YHWH malakh.
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let them say among the nations: 'The LORD reigneth.'
32.
יִרְעַם הַיָּם, וּמְלוֹאוֹ-- יַעֲלֹץ הַשָּׂדֶה, וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר-בּוֹ.
yir'am hayam, umelo'o-- ya'alotz hasadeh, vekhal-asher-bo.
Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; let the field exult, and all that is therein;
33.
אָז יְרַנְּנוּ, עֲצֵי הַיָּעַר: מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה--כִּי-בָא, לִשְׁפּוֹט אֶת-הָאָרֶץ.
az yerannenu, atzeyi haya'ar: millifnei YHWH-- ki-va, lishpot et-ha'aretz.
Then shall the trees of the wood sing for joy, before the LORD, for He is come to judge the earth.
34.
הוֹדוּ לַיהוָה, כִּי טוֹב-- כִּי לְעוֹלָם, חַסְדּוֹ.
hodu laYHWH, ki tov-- ki le'olam, khasdo.
O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.
35.
וְאִמְרוּ--הוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעֵנוּ, וְקַבְּצֵנוּ וְהַצִּילֵנוּ מִן-הַגּוֹיִם: לְהֹדוֹת לְשֵׁם קָדְשֶׁךָ, לְהִשְׁתַּבֵּחַ בִּתְהִלָּתֶךָ.
ve'imru hoshi'enu Elohei yis'enu vekab'tsenu vehatsilenu min-hagoyim lehodot leshem kodshecha lehishtabe'ach bit'hillatecha.
And say ye: 'Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks unto Thy holy name, that we may triumph in Thy praise.'
36.
בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה, אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל-- מִן-הָעוֹלָם, וְעַד הָעֹלָם; וַיֹּאמְרוּ כָל-הָעָם, אָמֵן-- וְהַלֵּל, לַיהוָה.
baruch YHWH Elohei Yisrael min-ha'olam ve'ad ha'olam vayomeru chol-ha'am amen vehallel laYHWH.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting. And all the people said: 'Amen,' and praised the LORD.
37.
וַיַּעֲזָב-שָׁם, לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן בְּרִית-יְהוָה, לְאָסָף, וּלְאֶחָיו: לְשָׁרֵת לִפְנֵי הָאָרוֹן, תָּמִיד--לִדְבַר-יוֹם בְּיוֹמוֹ.
vaya'azav-sham lifnei aron berit-YHWH le'asaf ule'echav lesharet lifnei ha'aron tamid lidvar-yom beyomo.
So he left there, before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required;
38.
וְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם וַאֲחֵיהֶם, שִׁשִּׁים וּשְׁמוֹנָה; וְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם בֶּן-יְדִיתוּן וְחֹסָה, לְשֹׁעֲרִים.
ve'oved edom va'achehem shishim ushmonah ve'oved edom ben-yeditun vechosha lesho'arim.
and Obed-edom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obed-edom also the son of Jedithun and Hosah to be door-keepers;
39.
וְאֵת צָדוֹק הַכֹּהֵן, וְאֶחָיו הַכֹּהֲנִים, לִפְנֵי, מִשְׁכַּן יְהוָה--בַּבָּמָה, אֲשֶׁר בְּגִבְעוֹן.
ve'et Tzadok hakohen, ve'echav hakohanim, lifnei, mishkan YHWH--babbamah, asher begiv'on.
and Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,
40.
לְהַעֲלוֹת עֹלוֹת לַיהוָה עַל-מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה, תָּמִיד--לַבֹּקֶר וְלָעָרֶב; וּלְכָל-הַכָּתוּב בְּתוֹרַת יְהוָה, אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל.
leha'alot olot laYHWH al-mizbeach ha'olah, tamid--laboker vela'erev; ulekhol-hakatuv betorat YHWH, asher tzivvah al-Yisrael.
to offer burnt-offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of burnt-offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in the Law of the LORD, which He commanded unto Israel;
41.
וְעִמָּהֶם, הֵימָן וִידוּתוּן, וּשְׁאָר הַבְּרוּרִים, אֲשֶׁר נִקְּבוּ בְּשֵׁמוֹת--לְהֹדוֹת, לַיהוָה, כִּי לְעוֹלָם, חַסְדּוֹ.
ve'immahem, Heman veYidutun, ushear haberurim, asher niqquvu beshemot--lehodot, laYHWH, ki le'olam, chasdo.
and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because His mercy endureth for ever;
42.
וְעִמָּהֶם הֵימָן וִידוּתוּן חֲצֹצְרוֹת וּמְצִלְתַּיִם, לְמַשְׁמִיעִים, וּכְלֵי, שִׁיר הָאֱלֹהִים; וּבְנֵי יְדוּתוּן, לַשָּׁעַר.
ve'immahem Heman veYidutun chatzotzrot umetziltayim, lemashmi'im, uchlei, shir haElohim; uvnei Yidutun, lashsha'ar.
and with them Heman and Jeduthun, to sound aloud with trumpets and cymbals, and with instruments for the songs of God; and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate.
43.
וַיֵּלְכוּ כָל-הָעָם, אִישׁ לְבֵיתוֹ; וַיִּסֹּב דָּוִיד, לְבָרֵךְ אֶת-בֵּיתוֹ.
vayelekhu khol ha'am, ish levayto; vayisov david, levarek et beyto.
And all the people departed every man to his house; and David returned to bless his house.
