1.
לַמְנַצֵּחַ לִבְנֵי-קֹרַח מִזְמוֹר.
lamnatze'ach livnei-korach mizmor.
For the Leader; a Psalm of the sons of Korah.
2.
שִׁמְעוּ-זֹאת, כָּל-הָעַמִּים; הַאֲזִינוּ, כָּל-יֹשְׁבֵי חָלֶד.
shim'u-zot, kol-ha'ammim; ha'azinu, kol-yoshvei khaled.
Hear this, all ye peoples; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world,
3.
גַּם-בְּנֵי אָדָם, גַּם-בְּנֵי-אִישׁ-- יַחַד, עָשִׁיר וְאֶבְיוֹן.
gam-bnei adam, gam-bnei-ish-- yakhad, ashir ve'evyon.
Both low and high, rich and poor together.
4.
פִּי, יְדַבֵּר חָכְמוֹת; וְהָגוּת לִבִּי תְבוּנוֹת.
pi, ydaber khokhmot; vehagut libi tevunot.
My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.
5.
אַטֶּה לְמָשָׁל אָזְנִי; אֶפְתַּח בְּכִנּוֹר, חִידָתִי.
atte le-mashal ozni; eftakh be-kinnor, khidati.
I will incline mine ear to a parable; I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
6.
לָמָּה אִירָא, בִּימֵי רָע-- עֲוֺן עֲקֵבַי יְסוּבֵּנִי.
lamma ira, bimei ra-- avon akevay yesubeni.
Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my supplanters compasseth me about,
7.
הַבֹּטְחִים עַל-חֵילָם; וּבְרֹב עָשְׁרָם יִתְהַלָּלוּ.
ha-botehim al-kheilam; u-vrov oshram yithallalu.
Of them that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches?
8.
אָח--לֹא פָדֹה יִפְדֶּה אִישׁ; לֹא-יִתֵּן לֵאלֹהִים כָּפְרוֹ.
akh-- lo fado yifdeh ish; lo-yitten le-lohim kaforo.
No man can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him--
9.
וְיֵקַר, פִּדְיוֹן נַפְשָׁם; וְחָדַל לְעוֹלָם.
ve'yekar pidyon nafsham ve'khadal le'olam.
For too costly is the redemption of their soul, and must be let alone for ever--
10.
וִיחִי-עוֹד לָנֶצַח; לֹא יִרְאֶה הַשָּׁחַת.
vi'khi-od lanetzach lo yir'eh hashachat.
That he should still live alway, that he should not see the pit.
11.
כִּי יִרְאֶה, חֲכָמִים יָמוּתוּ-- יַחַד כְּסִיל וָבַעַר יֹאבֵדוּ;וְעָזְבוּ לַאֲחֵרִים חֵילָם.
ki yir'eh khakhamim yamutu yakhad kesil u'va'ar yo'vedu ve'azevu la'akherim khelam.
For he seeth that wise men die, the fool and the brutish together perish, and leave their wealth to others.
12.
קִרְבָּם בָּתֵּימוֹ, לְעוֹלָם-- מִשְׁכְּנֹתָם, לְדוֹר וָדֹר;קָרְאוּ בִשְׁמוֹתָם, עֲלֵי אֲדָמוֹת.
kirbam bateyמו le'olam mishkenotam le'dor va'dor kar'u vishmotam 'alei adamot.
Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling-places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
13.
וְאָדָם בִּיקָר, בַּל-יָלִין; נִמְשַׁל כַּבְּהֵמוֹת נִדְמוּ.
ve'adam bikar, bal-yalin; nimshal kabehemot nidmu.
But man abideth not in honour; he is like the beasts that perish.
14.
זֶה דַרְכָּם, כֵּסֶל לָמוֹ; וְאַחֲרֵיהֶם, בְּפִיהֶם יִרְצוּ סֶלָה.
zeh darkam, kesel lamo; ve'achareihem, befiehem yirtzu selah.
This is the way of them that are foolish, and of those who after them approve their sayings. Selah
15.
כַּצֹּאן, לִשְׁאוֹל שַׁתּוּ-- מָוֶת יִרְעֵם:וַיִּרְדּוּ בָם יְשָׁרִים, לַבֹּקֶר--וצירם וְצוּרָם, לְבַלּוֹת שְׁאוֹל; מִזְּבֻל לוֹ.
katzon, lish'ol shattu--mavet yir'em: vayirdu vam yesharim, laboker--vetzuram, leballot she'ol; mizzevul lo.
Like sheep they are appointed for the nether-world; death shall be their shepherd; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their form shall be for the nether-world to wear away, that there be no habitation for it.
16.
אַךְ-אֱלֹהִים--יִפְדֶּה נַפְשִׁי, מִיַּד-שְׁאוֹל: כִּי יִקָּחֵנִי סֶלָה.
ach-elohim--ifdeh nafshi, miyad-she'ol: ki yikkacheni selah.
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the nether-world; for He shall receive me. Selah
17.
אַל-תִּירָא, כִּי-יַעֲשִׁר אִישׁ: כִּי-יִרְבֶּה, כְּבוֹד בֵּיתוֹ.
al-tira ki-ya'ashir ish ki-yirbeh kevod beto
Be not thou afraid when one waxeth rich, when the wealth of his house is increased;
18.
כִּי לֹא בְמוֹתוֹ, יִקַּח הַכֹּל; לֹא-יֵרֵד אַחֲרָיו כְּבוֹדוֹ.
ki lo vemoto yikach hakol lo-yered acharav kevodo
For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; his wealth shall not descend after him.
19.
כִּי-נַפְשׁוֹ, בְּחַיָּיו יְבָרֵךְ; וְיוֹדֻךָ, כִּי-תֵיטִיב לָךְ.
ki-nafsho bechayav yevarekh veyodukha ki-teitiv lakh
Though while he lived he blessed his soul: 'Men will praise thee, when thou shalt do well to thyself';
20.
תָּבוֹא, עַד-דּוֹר אֲבוֹתָיו; עַד-נֵצַח, לֹא יִרְאוּ-אוֹר.
tavo ad-dor avotav ad-netzach lo yir'u-or
It shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see the light.
21.
אָדָם בִּיקָר, וְלֹא יָבִין; נִמְשַׁל כַּבְּהֵמוֹת נִדְמוּ.
adam biqar, ve'lo yavin; nimshal kabehemot nidmu.
Man that is in honour understandeth not; he is like the beasts that perish.
