1.
לָמָה יְהוָה, תַּעֲמֹד בְּרָחוֹק; תַּעְלִים, לְעִתּוֹת בַּצָּרָה.
lamah YHWH, ta'amod berachok; ta'alim, le'ittot batzarah.
Why standest Thou afar off, O LORD? Why hidest Thou Thyself in times of trouble?
2.
בְּגַאֲוַת רָשָׁע, יִדְלַק עָנִי; יִתָּפְשׂוּ, בִּמְזִמּוֹת זוּ חָשָׁבוּ.
bega'avat rashay, yidlak ani; yitafsu, bimzimmot zu chashavu.
Through the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued, they are taken in the devices that they have imagined.

כִּי-הִלֵּל רָשָׁע, עַל-תַּאֲוַת נַפְשׁוֹ; וּבֹצֵעַ בֵּרֵךְ, נִאֵץ יְהוָה.
ki-hillel rashay, al-ta'avat nafsho; uvotzea berech, ni'etz YHWH.
For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and the covetous vaunteth himself, though he contemn the LORD.

רָשָׁע--כְּגֹבַהּ אַפּוֹ, בַּל-יִדְרֹשׁ; אֵין אֱלֹהִים, כָּל-מְזִמּוֹתָיו.
rasha kegovah appo bal-yidrosh ein Elohim kol-mezimmotav
The wicked, in the pride of his countenance [, saith]: 'He will not require'; all his thoughts are: 'There is no God.'

יָחִילוּ דְרָכָו, בְּכָל-עֵת--מָרוֹם מִשְׁפָּטֶיךָ, מִנֶּגְדּוֹ; כָּל-צוֹרְרָיו, יָפִיחַ בָּהֶם.
yachilu derakhav bekhol-et marom mishpatekha minnedo kol-tsorerav yafiach bahem
His ways prosper at all times; Thy judgments are far above out of his sight; as for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them.

אָמַר בְּלִבּוֹ, בַּל-אֶמּוֹט; לְדֹר וָדֹר, אֲשֶׁר לֹא-בְרָע.
amar belibbo bal-emmot ledor vador asher lo-vera
He saith in his heart: 'I shall not be moved, I who to all generations shall not be in adversity.'

אָלָה, פִּיהוּ מָלֵא--וּמִרְמוֹת וָתֹךְ; תַּחַת לְשׁוֹנוֹ, עָמָל וָאָוֶן.
alah pihu male umirmot vatokh tachat leshono amal vaaven
His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.

יֵשֵׁב, בְּמַאְרַב חֲצֵרִים--בַּמִּסְתָּרִים, יַהֲרֹג נָקִי; עֵינָיו, לְחֵלְכָה יִצְפֹּנוּ.
yeshev bema'rav khatzerim bamistarim yaharog naki enav lekhelkha yitzponu
He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; in secret places doth he slay the innocent; his eyes are on the watch for the helpless.

יֶאֱרֹב בַּמִּסְתָּר, כְּאַרְיֵה בְסֻכֹּה-- יֶאֱרֹב, לַחֲטוֹף עָנִי;יַחְטֹף עָנִי, בְּמָשְׁכוֹ בְרִשְׁתּוֹ.
ye'erov bamistar ke'aryeh vesukoh ye'erov lakhatof ani yakhtof ani bemasheko verishto
He lieth in wait in a secret place as a lion in his lair, he lieth in wait to catch the poor; he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him up in his net.

ודכה יִדְכֶּה יָשֹׁחַ; וְנָפַל בַּעֲצוּמָיו, חלכאים חֵל כָּאִים.
vedkeh yidkeh yashoakh venafal ba'atzumav khel ka'im
He croucheth, he boweth down, and the helpless fall into his mighty claws.
11.
אָמַר בְּלִבּוֹ, שָׁכַח אֵל; הִסְתִּיר פָּנָיו, בַּל-רָאָה לָנֶצַח.
amar belibo shakhakh el histir panav bal ra'ah lanetzakh
He hath said in his heart: 'God hath forgotten; He hideth His face; He will never see.'
12.
קוּמָה יְהוָה--אֵל, נְשָׂא יָדֶךָ; אַל-תִּשְׁכַּח עניים עֲנָוִים.
Kumah YHWH -- el, nesa yadekha; al-tishkach aniyim anavim.
Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up Thy hand; forget not the humble.
13.
עַל-מֶה, נִאֵץ רָשָׁע אֱלֹהִים; אָמַר בְּלִבּוֹ, לֹא תִדְרֹשׁ.
al-meh, ni'etz rasha Elohim; amar belibo, lo tidrosh.
Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God, and say in his heart: 'Thou wilt not require'?
14.
רָאִתָה, כִּי-אַתָּה עָמָל וָכַעַס תַּבִּיט-- לָתֵת בְּיָדֶךָ:עָלֶיךָ, יַעֲזֹב חֵלֵכָה; יָתוֹם, אַתָּה הָיִיתָ עוֹזֵר.
ra'itah, ki-atah amal vakhas tabit -- latet beyadekha: aleykha, ya'azov khelekha; yatom, atah hayita ozer.
Thou hast seen; for Thou beholdest trouble and vexation, to requite them with Thy hand; unto Thee the helpless committeth himself; Thou hast been the helper of the fatherless.
15.
שְׁבֹר, זְרוֹעַ רָשָׁע; וָרָע, תִּדְרוֹשׁ-רִשְׁעוֹ בַל-תִּמְצָא.
shevor, zero'a rasha; vara, tidrosh-rish'o val-timtza.
Break Thou the arm of the wicked; and as for the evil man, search out his wickedness, till none be found.
16.
יְהוָה מֶלֶךְ, עוֹלָם וָעֶד; אָבְדוּ גוֹיִם, מֵאַרְצוֹ.
Adonai melekh, olam va'ed; avdu goyim, me'artzo.
The LORD is King for ever and ever; the nations are perished out of His land.
17.
תַּאֲוַת עֲנָוִים שָׁמַעְתָּ יְהוָה; תָּכִין לִבָּם, תַּקְשִׁיב אָזְנֶךָ.
ta'avat anavim shamata Adonai; takhin libam, takshiv oznekha.
LORD, Thou hast heard the desire of the humble: Thou wilt direct their heart, Thou wilt cause Thine ear to attend;
18.
לִשְׁפֹּט יָתוֹם, וָדָךְ: בַּל-יוֹסִיף עוֹד--לַעֲרֹץ אֱנוֹשׁ, מִן-הָאָרֶץ.
lishpot yatom, vadakh: bal-yosif od--la'arot enosh, min-ha'aretz.
To right the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may be terrible no more.
