1.
בְּנִי, תּוֹרָתִי אַל-תִּשְׁכָּח; וּמִצְוֺתַי, יִצֹּר לִבֶּךָ.
beni torati al tishkach umitzvotay yitzor libekha.
My son, forget not my teaching; but let thy heart keep my commandments;
2.
כִּי אֹרֶךְ יָמִים, וּשְׁנוֹת חַיִּים-- וְשָׁלוֹם, יוֹסִיפוּ לָךְ.
Ki orekh yamim, ushnot khayim-- veshalom, yosifu lakh.
For length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they add to thee.
3.
חֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶת, אַל-יַעַזְבֻךָ:קָשְׁרֵם עַל-גַּרְגְּרוֹתֶיךָ; כָּתְבֵם, עַל-לוּחַ לִבֶּךָ.
Khesed ve'emet, al-ya'azvukha: qashrem al-gargroteykha; katvem, al-luakh libekha.
Let not kindness and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck, write them upon the table of thy heart;

וּמְצָא-חֵן וְשֵׂכֶל-טוֹב-- בְּעֵינֵי אֱלֹהִים וְאָדָם.
Umtza-khen vesekhel-tov-- be'enei Elohim ve'adam.
So shalt thou find grace and good favour in the sight of God and man.
5.
בְּטַח אֶל-יְהוָה, בְּכָל-לִבֶּךָ; וְאֶל-בִּינָתְךָ, אַל-תִּשָּׁעֵן.
Betakh el-YHWH, bekhol-libekha; ve'el-binatkha, al-tisha'en.
Trust in the LORD with all thy heart, and lean not upon thine own understanding.
6.
בְּכָל-דְּרָכֶיךָ דָעֵהוּ; וְהוּא, יְיַשֵּׁר אֹרְחֹתֶיךָ.
bekhol-derakhekha da'ehu; vehu, yeyasher orkhotekha.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths.
7.
אַל-תְּהִי חָכָם בְּעֵינֶיךָ; יְרָא אֶת-יְהוָה, וְסוּר מֵרָע.
al-tehi khakham be'eynekha; yera et-YHWH, vesur mera.
Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear the LORD, and depart from evil;
8.
רִפְאוּת, תְּהִי לְשָׁרֶּךָ; וְשִׁקּוּי, לְעַצְמוֹתֶיךָ.
rif'ut, tehi lesharekha; veshikkuy, le'atzmotekha.
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9.
כַּבֵּד אֶת-יְהוָה, מֵהוֹנֶךָ; וּמֵרֵאשִׁית, כָּל-תְּבוּאָתֶךָ.
kabbed et-YHWH, mehonekha; umereshit, kol-tevuatekha.
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase;
10.
וְיִמָּלְאוּ אֲסָמֶיךָ שָׂבָע; וְתִירוֹשׁ, יְקָבֶיךָ יִפְרֹצוּ.
ve'yimmale'u asamekha sava; ve'tirosh, yekaveykha yifrotzu.
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy vats shall overflow with new wine.
11.
מוּסַר יְהוָה, בְּנִי אַל-תִּמְאָס; וְאַל-תָּקֹץ, בְּתוֹכַחְתּוֹ.
musar YHWH, beni al-tim'as; ve'al-takottz, be'tokhakhto.
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD, neither spurn thou His correction;
12.
כִּי אֶת אֲשֶׁר יֶאֱהַב יְהוָה יוֹכִיחַ;וּכְאָב, אֶת-בֵּן יִרְצֶה.
ki et asher ye'ehav YHWH yokhiakh; u'khe'av, et-ben yirtzeh.
For whom the LORD loveth He correcteth, even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
13.
אַשְׁרֵי אָדָם, מָצָא חָכְמָה; וְאָדָם, יָפִיק תְּבוּנָה.
ashrei adam, matza khokhmah; ve'adam, yafik tevunah.
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that obtaineth understanding.
14.
כִּי טוֹב סַחְרָהּ, מִסְּחַר-כָּסֶף; וּמֵחָרוּץ, תְּבוּאָתָהּ.
Ki tov sachrah, mis'char-kasef; umecharutz, tevu'atah.
For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
15.
יְקָרָה הִיא, מפניים מִפְּנִינִים; וְכָל-חֲפָצֶיךָ, לֹא יִשְׁווּ-בָהּ.
Yekarah hi, mip'n-min mip'ninim; vechal-chafatzeicha, lo yishvu-vah.
She is more precious than rubies; and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
16.
אֹרֶךְ יָמִים, בִּימִינָהּ; בִּשְׂמֹאולָהּ, עֹשֶׁר וְכָבוֹד.
Orech yamim, bimynah; bis'molah, osher vechavod.
Length of days is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honour.
17.
דְּרָכֶיהָ דַרְכֵי-נֹעַם; וְכָל-נְתִיבוֹתֶיהָ שָׁלוֹם.
Deracheha darchei-no'am; vechal-netivoteyha shalom.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18.
עֵץ-חַיִּים הִיא, לַמַּחֲזִיקִים בָּהּ; וְתֹמְכֶיהָ מְאֻשָּׁר.
etz-chayim hi, lamachazikim bah; vetomecheha me'ushar.
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her, and happy is every one that holdest her fast.
19.
יְהוָה--בְּחָכְמָה יָסַד-אָרֶץ; כּוֹנֵן שָׁמַיִם, בִּתְבוּנָה.
YHWH--bechachmah yasad-aretz; konen shamayim, bitvunah.
The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding He established the heavens.
20.
בְּדַעְתּוֹ, תְּהוֹמוֹת נִבְקָעוּ; וּשְׁחָקִים, יִרְעֲפוּ-טָל.
beda'to, tehomot nivqa'u; ushechaqim, yir'afu-tal.
By His knowledge the depths were broken up, and the skies drop down the dew.
21.
בְּנִי, אַל-יָלֻזוּ מֵעֵינֶיךָ; נְצֹר תֻּשִׁיָּה, וּמְזִמָּה.
beni, al-yaluzu me'einecha; netzor tushiyah, umezimah.
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes; keep sound wisdom and discretion;
22.
וְיִהְיוּ חַיִּים לְנַפְשֶׁךָ; וְחֵן, לְגַרְגְּרֹתֶיךָ.
ve'yihyu chayim lenafshekha; ve'chen, legargrotekha.
So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
23.
אָז תֵּלֵךְ לָבֶטַח דַּרְכֶּךָ; וְרַגְלְךָ, לֹא תִגּוֹף.
az telekh lavetach darkhekha; veraglekha, lo tigoF.
Then shalt thou walk in thy way securely, and thou shalt not dash thy foot.
24.
אִם-תִּשְׁכַּב לֹא-תִפְחָד; וְשָׁכַבְתָּ, וְעָרְבָה שְׁנָתֶךָ.
im-tishkav lo-tifchad; ve'shakhavta, ve'arvah shenatekha.
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid; yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
25.
אַל-תִּירָא, מִפַּחַד פִּתְאֹם; וּמִשֹּׁאַת רְשָׁעִים, כִּי תָבֹא.
al-tira, mipachad pit'om; umi-sho'at resha'im, ki tavo.
Be not afraid of sudden terror, neither of the destruction of the wicked, when it cometh;
26.
כִּי-יְהוָה, יִהְיֶה בְכִסְלֶךָ; וְשָׁמַר רַגְלְךָ מִלָּכֶד.
ki-YHWH, yihyeh v'khislekha; v'shamar ragl'kha millakhad.
For the LORD will be thy confidence, and will keep thy foot from being caught.
27.
אַל-תִּמְנַע-טוֹב מִבְּעָלָיו-- בִּהְיוֹת לְאֵל ידיך יָדְךָ לַעֲשׂוֹת.
al-timna-tov mib'alav-- bih'yot l'el yad'kha la'asot.
Withhold not good from him to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
28.
אַל-תֹּאמַר לרעיך לְרֵעֲךָ, לֵךְ וָשׁוּב--וּמָחָר אֶתֵּן; וְיֵשׁ אִתָּךְ.
al-tomar l're'akha, lekh vashuv--umakhar eten; v'yesh itakh.
Say not unto thy neighbour: 'Go, and come again, and to-morrow I will give'; when thou hast it by thee.
29.
אַל-תַּחֲרֹשׁ עַל-רֵעֲךָ רָעָה; וְהוּא-יוֹשֵׁב לָבֶטַח אִתָּךְ.
al-takharosh al-re'akha ra'ah; v'hu-yoshev lavetakh itakh.
Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
30.
אַל-תרוב תָּרִיב עִם-אָדָם חִנָּם-- אִם-לֹא גְמָלְךָ רָעָה.
al-taruv tariv im-adam khinam-- im-lo gemalkha ra'ah.
Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
31.
אַל-תְּקַנֵּא, בְּאִישׁ חָמָס; וְאַל-תִּבְחַר, בְּכָל-דְּרָכָיו.
al-tekanne, be'ish khamas; ve'al tivkhar, bekhol-derakhav.
Envy thou not the man of violence, and choose none of his ways.
32.
כִּי תוֹעֲבַת יְהוָה נָלוֹז; וְאֶת-יְשָׁרִים סוֹדוֹ.
ki to'avat YHWH naloz; ve'et-yesharim sodo.
For the perverse is an abomination to the LORD; but His counsel is with the upright.
33.
מְאֵרַת יְהוָה, בְּבֵית רָשָׁע; וּנְוֵה צַדִּיקִים יְבָרֵךְ.
me'erat YHWH, beveit rasha; unveh tzaddikim yevarekh.
The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked; but He blesseth the habitation of the righteous.
34.
אִם-לַלֵּצִים הוּא-יָלִיץ; ולעניים וְלַעֲנָוִים, יִתֶּן-חֵן.
im-laletzin hu-yalitz; vela'anvim vela'anavim, yiten-chen.
If it concerneth the scorners, He scorneth them, but unto the humble He giveth grace.
35.
כָּבוֹד, חֲכָמִים יִנְחָלוּ; וּכְסִילִים, מֵרִים קָלוֹן.
kavod, chakamim yinchalu; ukesilim, merim kalon.
The wise shall inherit honour; but as for the fools, they carry away shame.
