1.
חַכְמוֹת נָשִׁים, בָּנְתָה בֵיתָהּ; וְאִוֶּלֶת, בְּיָדֶיהָ תֶהֶרְסֶנּוּ.
khakhmot nashim, banetah beitah; ve'ivelet, beyadeha tehersenu.
Every wise woman buildeth her house; but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
2.
הוֹלֵךְ בְּיָשְׁרוֹ, יְרֵא יְהוָה; וּנְלוֹז דְּרָכָיו בּוֹזֵהוּ.
holekh beyashro, yere YHWH; uneloz derakhav bozehu.
He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD; but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth Him.
3.
בְּפִי-אֱוִיל, חֹטֶר גַּאֲוָה; וְשִׂפְתֵי חֲכָמִים, תִּשְׁמוּרֵם.
befi-evil, khoter ga'avah; vesifte khakhamim, tishmurem.
In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

בְּאֵין אֲלָפִים, אֵבוּס בָּר; וְרָב-תְּבוּאוֹת, בְּכֹחַ שׁוֹר.
be'ein alafim, evus bar; verav-tevu'ot, bekhoa shor.
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

עֵד אֱמוּנִים, לֹא יְכַזֵּב; וְיָפִיחַ כְּזָבִים, עֵד שָׁקֶר.
ed emunim, lo yekhazev; veyafiakh kezavim, ed shaker.
A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness breatheth forth lies.
6.
בִּקֶּשׁ-לֵץ חָכְמָה וָאָיִן; וְדַעַת לְנָבוֹן נָקָל.
bikesh-letz khakhmah va'ayin; vedat lenavon nakal.
A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; but knowledge is easy unto him that hath discernment.
7.
לֵךְ מִנֶּגֶד, לְאִישׁ כְּסִיל; וּבַל-יָדַעְתָּ, שִׂפְתֵי-דָעַת.
lekh minneged, le'ish kesil; uval-yadata, siftei-da'at.
Go from the presence of a foolish man, for thou wilt not perceive the lips of knowledge.
8.
חָכְמַת עָרוּם, הָבִין דַּרְכּוֹ; וְאִוֶּלֶת כְּסִילִים מִרְמָה.
khakhmat arum, havin darko; ve'ivelet kesilim mirmah.
The wisdom of the prudent is to look well to his way; but the folly of fools is deceit.
9.
אֱוִלִים, יָלִיץ אָשָׁם; וּבֵין יְשָׁרִים רָצוֹן.
evilim, yalitz asham; uvein yesharim ratzon.
Amends pleadeth for fools; but among the upright there is good will.
10.
לֵב--יוֹדֵעַ, מָרַּת נַפְשׁוֹ; וּבְשִׂמְחָתוֹ, לֹא-יִתְעָרַב זָר.
lev--yodea, marrat nafsho; uvesimchato, lo-yit'arav zar.
The heart knoweth its own bitterness; and with its joy no stranger can intermeddle.
11.
בֵּית רְשָׁעִים, יִשָּׁמֵד; וְאֹהֶל יְשָׁרִים יַפְרִיחַ.
beit resha'im, yishamed; ve'ohel yesharim yafriach.
The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tent of the upright shall flourish.
12.
יֵשׁ דֶּרֶךְ יָשָׁר, לִפְנֵי-אִישׁ; וְאַחֲרִיתָהּ, דַּרְכֵי-מָוֶת.
yesh derech yashar, lifnei-ish; ve'acharita, darchei-mavet.
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
13.
גַּם-בִּשְׂחֹק יִכְאַב-לֵב; וְאַחֲרִיתָהּ שִׂמְחָה תוּגָה.
gam-biskhok yikhav-lev; ve'akharitah simkhah tugah.
Even in laughter the heart acheth; and the end of mirth is heaviness.
14.
מִדְּרָכָיו יִשְׂבַּע, סוּג לֵב; וּמֵעָלָיו, אִישׁ טוֹב.
midrakhav yisba, sug lev; ume'alav, ish tov.
The dissembler in heart shall have his fill from his own ways; and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
15.
פֶּתִי, יַאֲמִין לְכָל-דָּבָר; וְעָרוּם, יָבִין לַאֲשֻׁרוֹ.
peti, ya'amin lekhal-davar; ve'arum, yabin la'ashuro.
The thoughtless believeth every word; but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
16.
חָכָם יָרֵא, וְסָר מֵרָע; וּכְסִיל, מִתְעַבֵּר וּבוֹטֵחַ.
khakkam yare, vesar mera; ukesil, mit'abber uvoteakh.
A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; but the fool behaveth overbearingly, and is confident.
17.
קְצַר-אַפַּיִם, יַעֲשֶׂה אִוֶּלֶת; וְאִישׁ מְזִמּוֹת, יִשָּׂנֵא.
ketzar-apayim, ya'aseh ivelet; ve'ish mezimot, yisaneh.
He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly; and a man of wicked devices is hated.
18.
נָחֲלוּ פְתָאיִם אִוֶּלֶת; וַעֲרוּמִים, יַכְתִּרוּ דָעַת.
nachalu feta'yim ivelet; va'arumim, yakhtiru da'at.
The thoughtless come into possession of folly; but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19.
שַׁחוּ רָעִים, לִפְנֵי טוֹבִים; וּרְשָׁעִים, עַל-שַׁעֲרֵי צַדִּיק.
shachu ra'im, lifnei tovim; uresha'im, al-sha'arei tzadik.
The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20.
גַּם-לְרֵעֵהוּ, יִשָּׂנֵא רָשׁ; וְאֹהֲבֵי עָשִׁיר רַבִּים.
gam-le're'ehu, yisaneh rash; ve'ohavei ashir rabim.
The poor is hated even of his own neighbour; but the rich hath many friends.
21.
בָּז-לְרֵעֵהוּ חוֹטֵא; וּמְחוֹנֵן עניים עֲנָוִים אַשְׁרָיו.
baz-le're'ehu khote; ume'khonen anavim ashrav.
He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth; but he that is gracious unto the humble, happy is he.
22.
הֲלוֹא-יִתְעוּ, חֹרְשֵׁי רָע; וְחֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶת, חֹרְשֵׁי טוֹב.
halo-yit'u, khor'she ra; ve'khesed ve'emet, khor'she tov.
Shall they not go astray that devise evil? But mercy and truth shall be for them that devise good.
23.
בְּכָל-עֶצֶב, יִהְיֶה מוֹתָר; וּדְבַר-שְׂפָתַיִם, אַךְ-לְמַחְסוֹר.
be'khol-etzev, yihyeh motar; u'devar-sefatayim, akh-le'makhorsor.
In all labour there is profit; but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24.
עֲטֶרֶת חֲכָמִים עָשְׁרָם; אִוֶּלֶת כְּסִילִים אִוֶּלֶת.
ateret khakhamim oshram; ivelet kesilim ivelet.
The crown of the wise is their riches; but the folly of fools remaineth folly.
25.
מַצִּיל נְפָשׁוֹת, עֵד אֱמֶת; וְיָפִחַ כְּזָבִים מִרְמָה.
matzil nefashot, ed emet; veyafiah kezavim mirmah.
A true witness delivereth souls; but he that breatheth forth lies is all deceit.
26.
בְּיִרְאַת יְהוָה, מִבְטַח-עֹז; וּלְבָנָיו, יִהְיֶה מַחְסֶה.
beyirat YHWH, mivtakh-oz; ulevanav, yihyeh makhseh.
In the fear of the LORD a man hath strong confidence; and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27.
יִרְאַת יְהוָה, מְקוֹר חַיִּים-- לָסוּר, מִמֹּקְשֵׁי מָוֶת.
yirat YHWH, mekor khayim-- lasur, mimokshei mavet.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
28.
בְּרָב-עָם הַדְרַת-מֶלֶךְ; וּבְאֶפֶס לְאֹם, מְחִתַּת רָזוֹן.
berav-am hadrat-melekh; uve-efes le'om, mekhiat razon.
In the multitude of people is the king's glory; but in the want of people is the ruin of the prince.
29.
אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם, רַב-תְּבוּנָה; וּקְצַר-רוּחַ, מֵרִים אִוֶּלֶת.
erek apayim, rav-tevunah; uketzar-ru'ah, merim ivelet.
He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30.
חַיֵּי בְשָׂרִים, לֵב מַרְפֵּא; וּרְקַב עֲצָמוֹת קִנְאָה.
chayye vesarim, lev marpe; urekav atzamot kin'ah.
A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; but envy is the rottenness of the bones.
31.
עֹשֵׁק דָּל, חֵרֵף עֹשֵׂהוּ; וּמְכַבְּדוֹ, חֹנֵן אֶבְיוֹן.
oshek dal, cheref oseh-hu; umechabdo, chonen evyon.
He that oppresseth the poor blasphemeth his Maker; but he that is gracious unto the needy honoureth Him.
32.
בְּרָעָתוֹ, יִדָּחֶה רָשָׁע; וְחֹסֶה בְמוֹתוֹ צַדִּיק.
be-ra'ato, yiddacheh rasha; ve-choseh ve-moto tzaddik.
The wicked is thrust down in his misfortune; but the righteous, even when he is brought to death, hath hope.
33.
בְּלֵב נָבוֹן, תָּנוּחַ חָכְמָה; וּבְקֶרֶב כְּסִילִים, תִּוָּדֵעַ.
beleV navon, tanuach chokhmah; uveqereV kesilim, tivade'a.
In the heart of him that hath discernment wisdom resteth; but in the inward part of fools it maketh itself known.
34.
צְדָקָה תְרוֹמֵם-גּוֹי; וְחֶסֶד לְאֻמִּים חַטָּאת.
tzedakah teromeM-goy; vechesed le'umim chattat.
Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people.
35.
רְצוֹן-מֶלֶךְ, לְעֶבֶד מַשְׂכִּיל; וְעֶבְרָתוֹ, תִּהְיֶה מֵבִישׁ.
retzon-melekh, le'eveD maskil; ve'evrato, tihiyeh mevish.
The king's favour is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; but his wrath striketh him that dealeth shamefully.
