וַתִּשָּׂא, כָּל-הָעֵדָה, וַיִּתְּנוּ, אֶת-קוֹלָם; וַיִּבְכּוּ הָעָם, בַּלַּיְלָה הַהוּא.
vattisa kol ha'edah vayitnu et kolam vayivku ha'am balaylah hahu.
And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

וַיִּלֹּנוּ עַל-מֹשֶׁה וְעַל-אַהֲרֹן, כֹּל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל; וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֲלֵהֶם כָּל-הָעֵדָה, לוּ-מַתְנוּ בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם, אוֹ בַּמִּדְבָּר הַזֶּה, לוּ-מָתְנוּ.
vayilonu al Moshe ve'al Aharon kol bene Yisrael vayomru alehem kol ha'edah lu matnu be'eretz Mitzrayim o bamidbar hazeh lu matnu.
And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron; and the whole congregation said unto them: 'Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would we had died in this wilderness!
3.
וְלָמָה יְהוָה מֵבִיא אֹתָנוּ אֶל-הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת, לִנְפֹּל בַּחֶרֶב--נָשֵׁינוּ וְטַפֵּנוּ, יִהְיוּ לָבַז; הֲלוֹא טוֹב לָנוּ, שׁוּב מִצְרָיְמָה.
velamah YHWH mevi otanu el ha'aretz hazot linpol baherev nasheinu vetapeinu yihyu lavaz halo tov lanu shuv Mitzraymah.
And wherefore doth the LORD bring us unto this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be a prey; were it not better for us to return into Egypt?'
4.
וַיֹּאמְרוּ, אִישׁ אֶל-אָחִיו: נִתְּנָה רֹאשׁ, וְנָשׁוּבָה מִצְרָיְמָה.
vayomeru, ish el-achiu: nitnah rosh, venashuvah Mitzraymah.
And they said one to another: 'Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.'
5.
וַיִּפֹּל מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן, עַל-פְּנֵיהֶם, לִפְנֵי, כָּל-קְהַל עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
vayipol Moshe ve'Aharon, al-peneihem, lifnei, kol-kehal adat benei Yisrael.
Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
6.
וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נוּן, וְכָלֵב בֶּן-יְפֻנֶּה, מִן-הַתָּרִים, אֶת-הָאָרֶץ--קָרְעוּ, בִּגְדֵיהֶם.
vihoshua bin-Nun, veKhalev ben-Yefuneh, min-hatarim, et-ha'aretz--kare'u, bigdeihem.
And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of them that spied out the land, rent their clothes.
7.
וַיֹּאמְרוּ, אֶל-כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר: הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר עָבַרְנוּ בָהּ לָתוּר אֹתָהּ--טוֹבָה הָאָרֶץ, מְאֹד מְאֹד.
vayomeru, el-kol-adat benei-yisrael lemor: ha'aretz, asher avarnu vah latur otah--tovah ha'aretz, me'od me'od.
And they spoke unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: 'The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceeding good land.
8.
אִם-חָפֵץ בָּנוּ, יְהוָה--וְהֵבִיא אֹתָנוּ אֶל-הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת, וּנְתָנָהּ לָנוּ: אֶרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר-הִוא זָבַת חָלָב וּדְבָשׁ.
im-chafetz banu, YHWH--vehevi otanu el-ha'aretz hazot, unetanah lanu: eretz, asher-hiv zavat chalav udevash.
If the LORD delight in us, then He will bring us into this land, and give it unto us--a land which floweth with milk and honey.
9.
אַךְ בַּיהוָה, אַל-תִּמְרֹדוּ, וְאַתֶּם אַל-תִּירְאוּ אֶת-עַם הָאָרֶץ, כִּי לַחְמֵנוּ הֵם; סָר צִלָּם מֵעֲלֵיהֶם וַיהוָה אִתָּנוּ, אַל-תִּירָאֻם.
akh baYHWH, al-timrodu, ve'atem al-tir'u et-am ha'aretz, ki lachmenu hem; sar tzillam me'alehem vaYHWH itanu, al-tiru'um.
Only rebel not against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us; their defence is removed from over them, and the LORD is with us; fear them not.'
10.
וַיֹּאמְרוּ, כָּל-הָעֵדָה, לִרְגּוֹם אֹתָם, בָּאֲבָנִים; וּכְבוֹד יְהוָה, נִרְאָה בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד, אֶל-כָּל-בְּנֵי, יִשְׂרָאֵל.
Vayomeru, kol-ha'edah, lirgom otam, ba'avanim; ukhevod YHWH, nir'ah be'ohel mo'ed, el-kol-b'nei, Yisrael.
But all the congregation bade stone them with stones, when the glory of the LORD appeared in the tent of meeting unto all the children of Israel.
11.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה, עַד-אָנָה יְנַאֲצֻנִי הָעָם הַזֶּה; וְעַד-אָנָה, לֹא-יַאֲמִינוּ בִי, בְּכֹל הָאֹתוֹת, אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי בְּקִרְבּוֹ.
Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, ad-anah yena'atzuni ha'am hazeh; ve'ad-anah, lo-ya'aminu vi, b'khol ha'otot, asher asiti b'kirbo.
And the LORD said unto Moses: 'How long will this people despise Me? and how long will they not believe in Me, for all the signs which I have wrought among them?
12.
אַכֶּנּוּ בַדֶּבֶר, וְאוֹרִשֶׁנּוּ; וְאֶעֱשֶׂה, אֹתְךָ, לְגוֹי-גָּדוֹל וְעָצוּם, מִמֶּנּוּ.
Akennu vaddever, ve'orishennu; ve'e'eseh, ot'kha, l'goy-gadol ve'atzum, mimennu.
I will smite them with the pestilence, and destroy them, and will make of thee a nation greater and mightier than they.'
13.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה, אֶל-יְהוָה: וְשָׁמְעוּ מִצְרַיִם, כִּי-הֶעֱלִיתָ בְכֹחֲךָ אֶת-הָעָם הַזֶּה מִקִּרְבּוֹ.
vayomer Moshe, el-YHWH: veshame'u Mitzrayim, ki-he'elita vekhokhakha et-ha'am hazeh miqirbo.
And Moses said unto the LORD: 'When the Egyptians shall hear--for Thou broughtest up this people in Thy might from among them--
14.
וְאָמְרוּ, אֶל-יוֹשֵׁב הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת, שָׁמְעוּ כִּי-אַתָּה יְהוָה, בְּקֶרֶב הָעָם הַזֶּה: אֲשֶׁר-עַיִן בְּעַיִן נִרְאָה אַתָּה יְהוָה, וַעֲנָנְךָ עֹמֵד עֲלֵהֶם, וּבְעַמֻּד עָנָן אַתָּה הֹלֵךְ לִפְנֵיהֶם יוֹמָם, וּבְעַמּוּד אֵשׁ לָיְלָה.
ve'amru, el-yoshev ha'aretz hazot, shame'u ki-atah YHWH, beqerev ha'am hazeh: asher-ayin be'ayin nir'ah atah YHWH, va'ananakha omed alehem, uve'amud anan atah holekh lifnehem yomam, uve'amud esh laylah.
they will say to the inhabitants of this land, who have heard that Thou LORD art in the midst of this people; inasmuch as Thou LORD art seen face to face, and Thy cloud standeth over them, and Thou goest before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night;
15.
וְהֵמַתָּה אֶת-הָעָם הַזֶּה, כְּאִישׁ אֶחָד; וְאָמְרוּ, הַגּוֹיִם, אֲשֶׁר-שָׁמְעוּ אֶת-שִׁמְעֲךָ, לֵאמֹר.
vehematah et-ha'am hazeh, ke'ish echad; ve'amru, hagoyim, asher-shame'u et-shim'akha, lemor.
now if Thou shalt kill this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of Thee will speak, saying:
16.
מִבִּלְתִּי יְכֹלֶת יְהוָה, לְהָבִיא אֶת-הָעָם הַזֶּה, אֶל-הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר-נִשְׁבַּע לָהֶם; וַיִּשְׁחָטֵם, בַּמִּדְבָּר.
mibilti yekholet YHWH, lehavil et-ha'am hazzeh, el-ha'aretz, asher-nishba lahem; vayyishchatem, bammidbar.
Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which He swore unto them, therefore He hath slain them in the wilderness.
17.
וְעַתָּה, יִגְדַּל-נָא כֹּחַ אֲדֹנָי, כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתָּ, לֵאמֹר.
ve'attah, yigdal-na koach Adonai, ka'asher dibbarta, lemor.
And now, I pray Thee, let the power of the LORD be great, according as Thou hast spoken, saying:
18.
יְהוָה, אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם וְרַב-חֶסֶד, נֹשֵׂא עָוֺן, וָפָשַׁע; וְנַקֵּה, לֹא יְנַקֶּה--פֹּקֵד עֲוֺן אָבוֹת עַל-בָּנִים, עַל-שִׁלֵּשִׁים וְעַל-רִבֵּעִים.
YHWH, erekh appayim verav-chesed, noseh avon, vafasha; venakkeh, lo yenakkeh--poked avon avot al-banim, al-shilleshim ve'al-ribbe'im.
The LORD is slow to anger, and plenteous in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.
19.
סְלַח-נָא, לַעֲוֺן הָעָם הַזֶּה--כְּגֹדֶל חַסְדֶּךָ; וְכַאֲשֶׁר נָשָׂאתָה לָעָם הַזֶּה, מִמִּצְרַיִם וְעַד-הֵנָּה.
selakh-na, la'avon ha'am hazeh--kegodel khasdecha; veka'asher nasata la'am hazeh, mimmitsrayim ve'ad-hennah.
Pardon, I pray Thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of Thy lovingkindness, and according as Thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.'
20.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה, סָלַחְתִּי כִּדְבָרֶךָ.
vayomer YHWH, salakhti kidvarecha.
And the LORD said: 'I have pardoned according to thy word.
21.
וְאוּלָם, חַי-אָנִי: וְיִמָּלֵא כְבוֹד-יְהוָה, אֶת-כָּל-הָאָרֶץ.
ve'ulam, khay-ani: veyimmale khevod-YHWH, et-kol-ha'aretz.
But in very deed, as I live--and all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD--
22.
כִּי כָל-הָאֲנָשִׁים, הָרֹאִים אֶת-כְּבֹדִי וְאֶת-אֹתֹתַי, אֲשֶׁר-עָשִׂיתִי בְמִצְרַיִם, וּבַמִּדְבָּר; וַיְנַסּוּ אֹתִי, זֶה עֶשֶׂר פְּעָמִים, וְלֹא שָׁמְעוּ, בְּקוֹלִי.
Ki khol-ha'anashim, haro'im et-kevodhi ve'et-ototay, asher-asiti veMitzrayim, uvemidbar; vaynasu oti, ze eser pe'amim, velo shame'u, bekoli.
surely all those men that have seen My glory, and My signs, which I wrought in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have put Me to proof these ten times, and have not hearkened to My voice;
23.
אִם-יִרְאוּ, אֶת-הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי, לַאֲבֹתָם; וְכָל-מְנַאֲצַי, לֹא יִרְאוּהָ.
Im-yir'u, et-ha'aretz, asher nishba'ti, la'avotam; vekhol-mena'atsay, lo yir'uha.
surely they shall not see the land which I swore unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that despised Me see it.
24.
וְעַבְדִּי כָלֵב, עֵקֶב הָיְתָה רוּחַ אַחֶרֶת עִמּוֹ, וַיְמַלֵּא, אַחֲרָי--וַהֲבִיאֹתִיו, אֶל-הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר-בָּא שָׁמָּה, וְזַרְעוֹ, יוֹרִשֶׁנָּה.
Ve'avdi Khalev, ekev haytah ru'ach acheret imo, vaymale, acharay--vahavi'otiv, el-ha'aretz asher-ba shamah, vezar'o, yorishennah.
But My servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed Me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
25.
וְהָעֲמָלֵקִי וְהַכְּנַעֲנִי, יוֹשֵׁב בָּעֵמֶק; מָחָר, פְּנוּ וּסְעוּ לָכֶם הַמִּדְבָּר--דֶּרֶךְ יַם-סוּף.
ve'ha'amaleki ve'hakna'ani, yoshev ba'emek; makhar, pnu use'u lakhem hamidbar--derekh yam-suf.
Now the Amalekite and the Canaanite dwell in the Vale; tomorrow turn ye, and get you into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.'
26.
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶל-אַהֲרֹן לֵאמֹר.
vaydaber YHWH, el-mosheh ve'el-aharon lemor.
And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying:
27.
עַד-מָתַי, לָעֵדָה הָרָעָה הַזֹּאת, אֲשֶׁר הֵמָּה מַלִּינִים, עָלָי; אֶת-תְּלֻנּוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֲשֶׁר הֵמָּה מַלִּינִים עָלַי--שָׁמָעְתִּי.
ad-matay, la'edah hara'ah hazot, asher hemah malinim, alay; et-tlunot bene yisrael, asher hemah malinim alay--shama'ti.
'How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, that keep murmuring against Me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they keep murmuring against Me.
28.
אֱמֹר אֲלֵהֶם, חַי-אָנִי נְאֻם-יְהוָה, אִם-לֹא, כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתֶּם בְּאָזְנָי: כֵּן, אֶעֱשֶׂה לָכֶם.
Emor alehem, chay-ani neum-YHWH, im-lo, ka'asher dibartem be'oznay: ken, e'eseh lakhem.
Say unto them: As I live, saith the LORD, surely as ye have spoken in Mine ears, so will I do to you:
29.
בַּמִּדְבָּר הַזֶּה יִפְּלוּ פִגְרֵיכֶם וְכָל-פְּקֻדֵיכֶם, לְכָל-מִסְפַּרְכֶם, מִבֶּן עֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה, וָמָעְלָה: אֲשֶׁר הֲלִינֹתֶם, עָלָי.
bamidbar hazeh yipelu figreichekhem vekhol-pekudekhem, lekhol-misparchem, miben esrim shanah, vama'elah: asher halinotem, alay.
your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness, and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, ye that have murmured against Me;
30.
אִם-אַתֶּם, תָּבֹאוּ אֶל-הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר נָשָׂאתִי אֶת-יָדִי, לְשַׁכֵּן אֶתְכֶם בָּהּ--כִּי אִם-כָּלֵב בֶּן-יְפֻנֶּה, וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נוּן.
im-atem, tavo'u el-ha'aretz, asher nasati et-yadi, leshaken etkhem bah--ki im-caleh ben-yefuneh, vihoshua bin-nun.
surely ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I lifted up My hand that I would make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
31.
וְטַפְּכֶם--אֲשֶׁר אֲמַרְתֶּם, לָבַז יִהְיֶה: וְהֵבֵיאתִי אֹתָם--וְיָדְעוּ אֶת-הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר מְאַסְתֶּם בָּהּ.
ve'tap'khem -- asher amartem, lavaz yihyeh: ve'heve'ati otam -- ve'yade'u et-ha'aretz, asher me'astem bah.
But your little ones, that ye said would be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have rejected.
32.
וּפִגְרֵיכֶם, אַתֶּם--יִפְּלוּ, בַּמִּדְבָּר הַזֶּה.
u'figreichem, atem -- yippelu, bamidbar hazeh.
But as for you, your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness.
33.
וּבְנֵיכֶם יִהְיוּ רֹעִים בַּמִּדְבָּר, אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה, וְנָשְׂאוּ, אֶת-זְנוּתֵיכֶם--עַד-תֹּם פִּגְרֵיכֶם, בַּמִּדְבָּר.
u'venekhem yihyu ro'im bamidbar, arba'im shanah, ve'nas'u, et-zenutekhem -- ad-tom figreichem, bamidbar.
And your children shall be wanderers in the wilderness forty years, and shall bear your strayings, until your carcasses be consumed in the wilderness.
34.
בְּמִסְפַּר הַיָּמִים אֲשֶׁר-תַּרְתֶּם אֶת-הָאָרֶץ, אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם--יוֹם לַשָּׁנָה יוֹם לַשָּׁנָה תִּשְׂאוּ אֶת-עֲוֺנֹתֵיכֶם, אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה; וִידַעְתֶּם, אֶת-תְּנוּאָתִי.
bemispar hayamim asher-tartem et-ha'aretz, arba'im yom--yom lashanah yom lashanah tiso et-avonotekhem, arba'im shanah; vida'etem, et-tenu'ati.
After the number of the days in which ye spied out the land, even forty days, for every day a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know My displeasure.
35.
אֲנִי יְהוָה, דִּבַּרְתִּי, אִם-לֹא זֹאת אֶעֱשֶׂה לְכָל-הָעֵדָה הָרָעָה הַזֹּאת, הַנּוֹעָדִים עָלָי; בַּמִּדְבָּר הַזֶּה יִתַּמּוּ, וְשָׁם יָמֻתוּ.
ani YHWH, dibarti, im-lo zot e'ese lekhal-ha'edah hara'ah hazot, hannoadim alay; bamidbar hazzeh yitammu, vesham yamutu.
I the LORD have spoken, surely this will I do unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against Me; in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.'
36.
וְהָאֲנָשִׁים, אֲשֶׁר-שָׁלַח מֹשֶׁה לָתוּר אֶת-הָאָרֶץ; וַיָּשֻׁבוּ, וילונו וַיַּלִּינוּ עָלָיו אֶת-כָּל-הָעֵדָה, לְהוֹצִיא דִבָּה, עַל-הָאָרֶץ.
ve'anashim, asher-shalach Moshe latur et-ha'aretz; vayashuvu, vayallinu alayv et-kol-ha'edah, lehotzi dibbah, al-ha'aretz.
And the men, whom Moses sent to spy out the land, and who, when they returned, made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report against the land,
37.
וַיָּמֻתוּ, הָאֲנָשִׁים, מוֹצִאֵי דִבַּת-הָאָרֶץ, רָעָה--בַּמַּגֵּפָה, לִפְנֵי יְהוָה.
vayamutu, ha'anashim, motzi'e dibat-ha'aretz, ra'ah--bamagefah, lifne YHWH.
even those men that did bring up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before the LORD.
38.
וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נוּן, וְכָלֵב בֶּן-יְפֻנֶּה, חָיוּ מִן-הָאֲנָשִׁים הָהֵם, הַהֹלְכִים לָתוּר אֶת-הָאָרֶץ.
viYehoshua bin-Nun, veKhalev ben-Yefuneh, khayu min-ha'anashim hahem, haholekhim latur et-ha'aretz.
But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, remained alive of those men that went to spy out the land.
39.
וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה אֶת-הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה, אֶל-כָּל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל; וַיִּתְאַבְּלוּ הָעָם, מְאֹד.
vaydaber Moshe et-hadevarim ha'eleh, el-kol-bnei Yisrael; vayit'ablu ha'am, me'od.
And Moses told these words unto all the children of Israel; and the people mourned greatly.
40.
וַיַּשְׁכִּמוּ בַבֹּקֶר, וַיַּעֲלוּ אֶל-רֹאשׁ-הָהָר לֵאמֹר: הִנֶּנּוּ, וְעָלִינוּ אֶל-הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר-אָמַר יְהוָה--כִּי חָטָאנוּ.
vayashkimu vavoker, vaya'alu el-rosh-hahar lemor: hinennu, ve'alinu el-hamakom asher-amar YHWH--ki chatanu.
And they rose up early in the morning, and got them up to the top of the mountain, saying: 'Lo, we are here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised; for we have sinned.'
41.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה, לָמָּה זֶּה אַתֶּם עֹבְרִים אֶת-פִּי יְהוָה; וְהִוא, לֹא תִצְלָח.
vayomer Moshe, lammah zeh atem ovrim et-pi YHWH; vehi, lo ttzlach.
And Moses said: 'Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD, seeing it shall not prosper?
42.
אַל-תַּעֲלוּ, כִּי אֵין יְהוָה בְּקִרְבְּכֶם; וְלֹא, תִּנָּגְפוּ, לִפְנֵי, אֹיְבֵיכֶם.
al-ta'alu, ki ein YHWH bekirkhem; velo, tinnagefu, lifnei, oyveikhem.
Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten down before your enemies.
43.
כִּי הָעֲמָלֵקִי וְהַכְּנַעֲנִי שָׁם לִפְנֵיכֶם, וּנְפַלְתֶּם בֶּחָרֶב: כִּי-עַל-כֵּן שַׁבְתֶּם מֵאַחֲרֵי יְהוָה, וְלֹא-יִהְיֶה יְהוָה עִמָּכֶם.
ki ha'amaleki vehakna'ani sham lifneikhem, unefaltem bekharav: ki-al-ken shavtem me'akharei YHWH, velo-yihyeh YHWH immakhem.
For there the Amalekite and the Canaanite are before you, and ye shall fall by the sword; forasmuch as ye are turned back from following the LORD, and the LORD will not be with you.'
44.
וַיַּעְפִּלוּ, לַעֲלוֹת אֶל-רֹאשׁ הָהָר; וַאֲרוֹן בְּרִית-יְהוָה וּמֹשֶׁה, לֹא-מָשׁוּ מִקֶּרֶב הַמַּחֲנֶה.
vaya'gilu, la'alot el-rosh hahar; va'aron berit-YHWH umoshe, lo-mashu mikereb hamakhaneh.
But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain; nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.
45.
וַיֵּרֶד הָעֲמָלֵקִי וְהַכְּנַעֲנִי, הַיֹּשֵׁב בָּהָר הַהוּא; וַיַּכּוּם וַיַּכְּתוּם, עַד-הַחָרְמָה.
vayered ha'amaleki vehakna'ani, hayoshev bahar hahu; vayakkum vayakketum, ad-hakhormah.
Then the Amalekite and the Canaanite, who dwelt in that hill-country, came down, and smote them and beat them down, even unto Hormah.
