1.
הֵן-תֹּחַלְתּוֹ נִכְזָבָה; הֲגַם אֶל-מַרְאָיו יֻטָל.
hen-tochalto nikhzavah; hagam el-mar'av yutal.
Behold, the hope of him is in vain; shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
2.
לֹא-אַכְזָר, כִּי יְעוּרֶנּוּ; וּמִי הוּא, לְפָנַי יִתְיַצָּב.
lo-akhzar, ki ye'urennu; umi hu, lefanay yityatzav.
None is so fierce that dare stir him up; who then is able to stand before Me?

מִי הִקְדִּימַנִי, וַאֲשַׁלֵּם; תַּחַת כָּל-הַשָּׁמַיִם לִי-הוּא.
Mi hikdimani, va'ashallem; takhat kol-hashamayim li-hu.
Who hath given Me anything beforehand, that I should repay him? Whatsoever is under the whole heaven is Mine.

לא- לוֹ- אַחֲרִישׁ בַּדָּיו; וּדְבַר-גְּבוּרוֹת, וְחִין עֶרְכּוֹ.
Lo- lo- akharish baddav; udvar-gevurot, vekhin erkho.
Would I keep silence concerning his boastings, or his proud talk, or his fair array of words?

מִי-גִלָּה, פְּנֵי לְבוּשׁוֹ; בְּכֶפֶל רִסְנוֹ, מִי יָבוֹא.
Mi-gillah, penei levusho; bekhefel risno, mi yavo.
Who can uncover the face of his garment? Who shall come within his double bridle?
6.
דַּלְתֵי פָנָיו, מִי פִתֵּחַ; סְבִיבוֹת שִׁנָּיו אֵימָה.
Daltei panav, mi pitteakh; sevivot shinnav eimah.
Who can open the doors of his face? Round about his teeth is terror.
7.
גַּאֲוָה, אֲפִיקֵי מָגִנִּים; סָגוּר, חוֹתָם צָר.
ga'avah, afikei maginim; sagur, khotam tzar.
His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
8.
אֶחָד בְּאֶחָד יִגַּשׁוּ; וְרוּחַ, לֹא-יָבֹא בֵינֵיהֶם.
ekhad be'ekhad yigashu; veruakh, lo-yavo beynehem.
One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
9.
אִישׁ-בְּאָחִיהוּ יְדֻבָּקוּ; יִתְלַכְּדוּ, וְלֹא יִתְפָּרָדוּ.
ish-be'akhihu yedubaku; yitlakedu, velo yitparadu.
They are joined one to another; they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
10.
עֲטִישֹׁתָיו, תָּהֶל אוֹר; וְעֵינָיו, כְּעַפְעַפֵּי-שָׁחַר.
atishotav, tahel or; ve'einav, ke'af'apei-shakhar.
His sneezings flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
11.
מִפִּיו, לַפִּידִים יַהֲלֹכוּ; כִּידוֹדֵי אֵשׁ, יִתְמַלָּטוּ.
mippiv, lappidim yahalokhu; kidodei esh, yitmallatu.
Out of his mouth go burning torches, and sparks of fire leap forth.
12.
מִנְּחִירָיו, יֵצֵא עָשָׁן-- כְּדוּד נָפוּחַ וְאַגְמֹן.
minchirav, yetze ashan-- kedud naphu'ah ve'agmon.
Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot and burning rushes.
13.
נַפְשׁוֹ, גֶּחָלִים תְּלַהֵט; וְלַהַב, מִפִּיו יֵצֵא.
nafsho, gechalim telahet; ulehav, mippiv yetze.
His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
14.
בְּצַוָּארוֹ, יָלִין עֹז; וּלְפָנָיו, תָּדוּץ דְּאָבָה.
betsavvaro, yalin oz; ulefanav, tadutz de'avah.
In his neck abideth strength, and dismay danceth before him.
15.
מַפְּלֵי בְשָׂרוֹ דָבֵקוּ; יָצוּק עָלָיו, בַּל-יִמּוֹט.
mappelei vesharo davequ; yatsuq alayiv, bal-yimmot.
The flakes of his flesh are joined together; they are firm upon him; they cannot be moved.
16.
לִבּוֹ, יָצוּק כְּמוֹ-אָבֶן; וְיָצוּק, כְּפֶלַח תַּחְתִּית.
libbo, yatsuq kemo-aven; veyatsuq, kefelach tachtit.
His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, firm as the nether millstone.
17.
מִשֵּׂתוֹ, יָגוּרוּ אֵלִים; מִשְּׁבָרִים, יִתְחַטָּאוּ.
misseto, yaguru elim; mishevarim, yitchatta'u.
When he raiseth himself up, the mighty are afraid; by reason of despair they are beside themselves.
18.
מַשִּׂיגֵהוּ חֶרֶב, בְּלִי תָקוּם; חֲנִית מַסָּע וְשִׁרְיָה.
massigehu cherev, beli taqum; chanit massa veshiryah.
If one lay at him with the sword, it will not hold; nor the spear, the dart, nor the pointed shaft.
19.
יַחְשֹׁב לְתֶבֶן בַּרְזֶל; לְעֵץ רִקָּבוֹן נְחוּשָׁה.
yakhshov leteven barzel; le'etz riqavon nekhushah.
He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
20.
לֹא-יַבְרִיחֶנּוּ בֶן-קָשֶׁת; לְקַשׁ, נֶהְפְּכוּ-לוֹ אַבְנֵי-קָלַע.
lo-yavrikhennu ven-qashet; leqash, nehpekhu-lo avnei-qala'.
The arrow cannot make him flee; slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
21.
כְּקַשׁ, נֶחְשְׁבוּ תוֹתָח; וְיִשְׂחַק, לְרַעַשׁ כִּידוֹן.
keqash, nekhshevu totakh; veyiskhaq, lera'ash kidon.
Clubs are accounted as stubble; he laugheth at the rattling of the javelin.
22.
תַּחְתָּיו, חַדּוּדֵי חָרֶשׂ; יִרְפַּד חָרוּץ עֲלֵי-טִיט.
takhtav, khaddudei kharesh; yirpad kharuץ ‘alei-tit.
Sharpest potsherds are under him; he spreadeth a threshing-sledge upon the mire.
23.
יַרְתִּיחַ כַּסִּיר מְצוּלָה; יָם, יָשִׂים כַּמֶּרְקָחָה.
yarti'ah kassir mezulah; yam, yasim kamerkah'ah.
He maketh the deep to boil like a pot; he maketh the sea like a seething mixture.
24.
אַחֲרָיו, יָאִיר נָתִיב; יַחְשֹׁב תְּהוֹם לְשֵׂיבָה.
aharav, ya'ir nativ; yahshov tehom lesevah.
He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
25.
אֵין-עַל-עָפָר מָשְׁלוֹ; הֶעָשׂוּ, לִבְלִי-חָת.
ein-al-afar mashlo; he'asu, livli-chat.
Upon earth there is not his like, who is made to be fearless.
26.
אֵת-כָּל-גָּבֹהַּ יִרְאֶה; הוּא, מֶלֶךְ עַל-כָּל-בְּנֵי-שָׁחַץ.
et-kol-gavoh yir'eh; hu, melekh al-kol-bene-shakhat.
He looketh at all high things; he is king over all the proud beasts.
