1.
אַף-לְזֹאת, יֶחֱרַד לִבִּי; וְיִתַּר, מִמְּקוֹמוֹ.
af-lezot, yekherad libbi; veyittar, mimkomo.
At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of its place.
2.
שִׁמְעוּ שָׁמוֹעַ בְּרֹגֶז קֹלוֹ; וְהֶגֶה, מִפִּיו יֵצֵא.
shim'u shamo'a berogez kolo vehege mippiv yetze
Hear attentively the noise of His voice, and the sound that goeth out of His mouth.
3.
תַּחַת-כָּל-הַשָּׁמַיִם יִשְׁרֵהוּ; וְאוֹרוֹ, עַל-כַּנְפוֹת הָאָרֶץ.
tachat-kol-hashamayim yishrehu ve'oro al-kanfot ha'aretz
He sendeth it forth under the whole heaven, and His lightning unto the ends of the earth.
4.
אַחֲרָיו, יִשְׁאַג-קוֹל-- יַרְעֵם, בְּקוֹל גְּאוֹנוֹ;וְלֹא יְעַקְּבֵם, כִּי-יִשָּׁמַע קוֹלוֹ.
acharav yish'ag-qol yar'em beqol ge'ono velo ye'aqqevem ki-yishama qolo
After it a voice roareth; He thundereth with the voice of His majesty; and He stayeth them not when His voice is heard.
5.
יַרְעֵם אֵל בְּקוֹלוֹ, נִפְלָאוֹת; עֹשֶׂה גְדֹלוֹת, וְלֹא נֵדָע.
yar'em el beqolo nifla'ot oseh gedolot velo neda
God thundereth marvellously with His voice; great things doeth He, which we cannot comprehend.
6.
כִּי לַשֶּׁלֶג, יֹאמַר-- הֱוֵא-אָרֶץ:וְגֶשֶׁם מָטָר; וְגֶשֶׁם, מִטְרוֹת עֻזּוֹ.
ki lasheleg yomar heve aretz vegeshem matar vegeshem mitrot uzo
For He saith to the snow: 'Fall thou on the earth'; likewise to the shower of rain, and to the showers of His mighty rain.
7.
בְּיַד-כָּל-אָדָם יַחְתּוֹם-- לָדַעַת, כָּל-אַנְשֵׁי מַעֲשֵׂהוּ.
beyad kol adam yakhtom lada'at kol anshei ma'asehu
He sealeth up the hand of every man, that all men whom He hath made may know it.
8.
וַתָּבוֹא חַיָּה בְמוֹ-אָרֶב; וּבִמְעוֹנֹתֶיהָ תִשְׁכֹּן.
vattavo khayah vemo arev uvme'oneteha tishkon
Then the beasts go into coverts, and remain in their dens.
9.
מִן-הַחֶדֶר, תָּבוֹא סוּפָה; וּמִמְּזָרִים קָרָה.
min hakheder tavo sufah umimezarim karah
Out of the Chamber cometh the storm; and cold out of the north.
10.
מִנִּשְׁמַת-אֵל יִתֶּן-קָרַח; וְרֹחַב מַיִם בְּמוּצָק.
minishmat-el yitten-karakh; verokhav mayim bemootzak.
By the breath of God ice is given, and the breadth of the waters is straitened.
11.
אַף-בְּרִי, יַטְרִיחַ עָב; יָפִיץ, עֲנַן אוֹרוֹ.
af-beri, yatriakh av; yafitz, anan oro.
Yea, He ladeth the thick cloud with moisture, He spreadeth abroad the cloud of His lightning;
12.
וְהוּא מְסִבּוֹת, מִתְהַפֵּךְ בְּתַחְבּוּלֹתָו לְפָעֳלָם:כֹּל אֲשֶׁר יְצַוֵּם, עַל-פְּנֵי תֵבֵל אָרְצָה.
vehu mesibot, mithapek betakhbulotav lefoalam: kol asher yetzaveh, al-penei tevel artza.
And they are turned round about by His guidance, that they may do whatsoever He commandeth them upon the face of the habitable world:
13.
אִם-לְשֵׁבֶט אִם-לְאַרְצוֹ-- אִם-לְחֶסֶד, יַמְצִאֵהוּ.
im-leshevet im-leartzo-- im-lechesed, yamtsiehu.
Whether it be for correction, or for His earth, or for mercy, that He cause it to come.
14.
הַאֲזִינָה זֹּאת אִיּוֹב; עֲמֹד, וְהִתְבּוֹנֵן נִפְלְאוֹת אֵל.
ha'azinah zot IYov; amod, vehitbonen nifle'ot El.
Hearken unto this, O Job; stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
15.
הֲתֵדַע, בְּשׂוּם-אֱלוֹהַּ עֲלֵיהֶם; וְהֹפִיעַ, אוֹר עֲנָנוֹ.
hateda, besum-Eloah aleyhem; vehofia, or anano.
Dost thou know how God enjoineth them, and causeth the lightning of His cloud to shine?
16.
הֲתֵדַע, עַל-מִפְלְשֵׂי-עָב; מִפְלְאוֹת, תְּמִים דֵּעִים.
hateda, al-miflesey-av; mifle'ot, temim de'im.
Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of Him who is perfect in knowledge?
17.
אֲשֶׁר-בְּגָדֶיךָ חַמִּים-- בְּהַשְׁקִט אֶרֶץ, מִדָּרוֹם.
asher-begadeykha khammim-- behashkit eretz, middarom.
Thou whose garments are warm, when the earth is still by reason of the south wind;
18.
תַּרְקִיעַ עִמּוֹ, לִשְׁחָקִים; חֲזָקִים, כִּרְאִי מוּצָק.
tarqi'a 'immo, lishchaqim; chazaqim, kir'i mutzaq.
Canst thou with Him spread out the sky, which is strong as a molten mirror?
19.
הוֹדִיעֵנוּ, מַה-נֹּאמַר לוֹ; לֹא-נַעֲרֹךְ, מִפְּנֵי-חֹשֶׁךְ.
hodi'enu, mah-no'mar lo; lo-na'aroch, mipenei-choshekh.
Teach us what we shall say unto Him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.
20.
הַיְסֻפַּר-לוֹ, כִּי אֲדַבֵּר; אִם-אָמַר אִישׁ, כִּי יְבֻלָּע.
haysupar-lo, ki adaber; im-amar ish, ki yevulla'.
Shall it be told Him that I would speak? Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up?
21.
וְעַתָּה, לֹא רָאוּ אוֹר-- בָּהִיר הוּא, בַּשְּׁחָקִים;וְרוּחַ עָבְרָה, וַתְּטַהֲרֵם.
ve'attah, lo ra'u or-- bahir hu, bashshaqim; veruach 'avrah, vatteTaharem.
And now men see not the light which is bright in the skies; but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.
22.
מִצָּפוֹן, זָהָב יֶאֱתֶה; עַל-אֱלוֹהַּ, נוֹרָא הוֹד.
mitzafon, zahav ye'eteh; al-Eloah, nora hod.
Out of the north cometh golden splendour, about God is terrible majesty.
23.
שַׁדַּי לֹא-מְצָאנֻהוּ, שַׂגִּיא-כֹחַ; וּמִשְׁפָּט וְרֹב-צְדָקָה, לֹא יְעַנֶּה.
Shaddai lo-mefatzanuhu, sagi-koakh; umishpat verov-tzedakah, lo ye'aneh.
The Almighty, whom we cannot find out, is excellent in power, yet to judgment and plenteous justice He doeth no violence.
24.
לָכֵן, יְרֵאוּהוּ אֲנָשִׁים; לֹא-יִרְאֶה, כָּל-חַכְמֵי-לֵב.
lakhen, yereiuhu anashim; lo-yir'eh, kol-khakhmei-lev.
Men do therefore fear Him; He regardeth not any that are wise of heart.
