2.הֲזֹאת, חָשַׁבְתָּ לְמִשְׁפָּט; אָמַרְתָּ, צִדְקִי מֵאֵל.hazot khashavta lemishpat amarta tzidki me'elThinkest thou this to be thy right, or sayest thou: 'I am righteousness before God',
3.כִּי-תֹאמַר, מַה-יִּסְכָּן-לָךְ; מָה-אֹעִיל, מֵחַטָּאתִי.ki-tomar, mah-yiskan-lakh; mah-o'il, mehattati.That thou inquirest: 'What advantage will it be unto Thee?' And: 'What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?'
4.אֲנִי, אֲשִׁיבְךָ מִלִּין-- וְאֶת-רֵעֶיךָ עִמָּךְ.ani, ashivkha millin-- ve'et-re'eikha immakh.I will give thee answer, and thy companions with thee.
5.הַבֵּט שָׁמַיִם וּרְאֵה; וְשׁוּר שְׁחָקִים, גָּבְהוּ מִמֶּךָּ.habet shamayim ure'eh; veshur shekhaqim, gav-hu mimekka.Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the skies, which are higher than thou.
6.אִם-חָטָאתָ, מַה-תִּפְעָל-בּוֹ; וְרַבּוּ פְשָׁעֶיךָ, מַה-תַּעֲשֶׂה-לּוֹ.im-chatata, mah-tif'al-bo; verabbu fesha'ekha, mah-ta'aseh-llo.If thou hast sinned, what doest thou against Him? And if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto Him?
7.אִם-צָדַקְתָּ, מַה-תִּתֶּן-לוֹ; אוֹ מַה-מִּיָּדְךָ יִקָּח.im-tzadakta, mah-titen-lo; o mah-miyadekha yikah.If thou be righteous, what givest thou Him? Or what receiveth He of thy hand?
8.לְאִישׁ-כָּמוֹךָ רִשְׁעֶךָ; וּלְבֶן-אָדָם, צִדְקָתֶךָ.le'ish-kamokha rish'ekha; uleven-adam, tzid'kateykha.Thy wickedness concerneth a man as thou art; and thy righteousness a son of man.
9.מֵרֹב, עֲשׁוּקִים יַזְעִיקוּ; יְשַׁוְּעוּ מִזְּרוֹעַ רַבִּים.merov, 'ashukim yaz'iku; yeshav'u mizmro'a rabim.By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; they cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.
10.וְלֹא-אָמַר--אַיֵּה, אֱלוֹהַּ עֹשָׂי: נֹתֵן זְמִרוֹת בַּלָּיְלָה.velo-amar--ayeh, Eloah 'osay: noten zmirot balaylah.But none saith: 'Where is God my Maker, who giveth songs in the night;
11.מַלְּפֵנוּ, מִבַּהֲמוֹת אָרֶץ; וּמֵעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם יְחַכְּמֵנוּ.mallefenu, mibahamot aretz; ume'of hashamayim yekhakhemenu.Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?'
12.שָׁם יִצְעֲקוּ, וְלֹא יַעֲנֶה-- מִפְּנֵי, גְּאוֹן רָעִים.sham yitz'aku, velo ya'aneh-- mippenei, ge'on ra'im.There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13.אַךְ-שָׁוְא, לֹא-יִשְׁמַע אֵל; וְשַׁדַּי, לֹא יְשׁוּרֶנָּה.akh-shav, lo-yishma el; veshadday, lo yeshurennah.Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14.אַף כִּי-תֹאמַר, לֹא תְשׁוּרֶנּוּ; דִּין לְפָנָיו, וּתְחוֹלֵל לוֹ.af ki-tomar, lo teshurennu; din lefanav, utcholel lo.Yea, when thou sayest thou canst not see Him--the cause is before Him; therefore wait thou for Him.
15.וְעַתָּה--כִּי-אַיִן, פָּקַד אַפּוֹ; וְלֹא-יָדַע בַּפַּשׁ מְאֹד.ve'attah ki-ayin paqad appo velo-yada bappash me'odAnd now, is it for nought that He punished in His anger? And hath He not full knowledge of arrogance?
16.וְאִיּוֹב, הֶבֶל יִפְצֶה-פִּיהוּ; בִּבְלִי-דַעַת, מִלִּין יַכְבִּר.ve'iyov hebel yiftzeh-pihu bivli-da'at millin yakhbirBut Job doth open his mouth in vanity; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
