1.וַיֹּסֶף אִיּוֹב, שְׂאֵת מְשָׁלוֹ; וַיֹּאמַר.vayosef iyov, se'et meshalo; vayomer.And Job again took up his parable, and said:
2.חַי-אֵל, הֵסִיר מִשְׁפָּטִי; וְשַׁדַּי, הֵמַר נַפְשִׁי.khai-el, hesir mishpati; veshadday, hemar nafshi.As God liveth, who hath taken away my right; and the Almighty, who hath dealt bitterly with me;
3.כִּי-כָל-עוֹד נִשְׁמָתִי בִי; וְרוּחַ אֱלוֹהַּ בְּאַפִּי.ki-khal-od nishmati vi; veruakh eloah be'api.All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils,
4.אִם-תְּדַבֵּרְנָה שְׂפָתַי עַוְלָה; וּלְשׁוֹנִי, אִם-יֶהְגֶּה רְמִיָּה.im-tedabernah sefatay avlah; uleshoni, im-yehgeh remiyah.Surely my lips shall not speak unrighteousness, neither shall my tongue utter deceit;
5.חָלִילָה לִּי, אִם-אַצְדִּיק אֶתְכֶם:עַד-אֶגְוָע-- לֹא-אָסִיר תֻּמָּתִי מִמֶּנִּי.khalilah li, im-atzdik etkhem: ad-egva- lo-asir tumati mimeni.Far be it from me that I should justify you; till I die I will not put away mine integrity from me.
6.בְּצִדְקָתִי הֶחֱזַקְתִּי, וְלֹא אַרְפֶּהָ; לֹא-יֶחֱרַף לְבָבִי, מִיָּמָי.betsidqati hekhezati, velo arpeha; lo-yekheraf levavi, miyamami.My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go; my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
7.יְהִי כְרָשָׁע, אֹיְבִי; וּמִתְקוֹמְמִי כְעַוָּל.yehi khrasha, oyevi; umitqomemi khe'aval.Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and let him that riseth up against me be as the unrighteous.
8.כִּי מַה-תִּקְוַת חָנֵף, כִּי יִבְצָע; כִּי יֵשֶׁל אֱלוֹהַּ נַפְשׁוֹ.ki mah-tiqvat khanef, ki yivtsa; ki yeshel Eloah nafsho.For what is the hope of the godless, though he get him gain, when God taketh away his soul?
9.הֲצַעֲקָתוֹ, יִשְׁמַע אֵל-- כִּי-תָבוֹא עָלָיו צָרָה.hatsa'qato, yishma el-- ki-tavo alav ttsarah.Will God hear his cry, when trouble cometh upon him?
10.אִם-עַל-שַׁדַּי יִתְעַנָּג; יִקְרָא אֱלוֹהַּ בְּכָל-עֵת.Im-al-shadday yit'anag; yikra eloah bekhal-et.Will he have his delight in the Almighty, and call upon God at all times?
11.אוֹרֶה אֶתְכֶם בְּיַד-אֵל; אֲשֶׁר עִם-שַׁדַּי, לֹא אֲכַחֵד.Oreh etkhem beyad-el; asher im-shadday, lo akhached.I will teach you concerning the hand of God; that which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.
12.הֵן-אַתֶּם כֻּלְּכֶם חֲזִיתֶם; וְלָמָּה-זֶּה, הֶבֶל תֶּהְבָּלוּ.Hen-atem kullakhem khazitem; velamma-zeh, hevel tehbalu.Behold, all ye yourselves have seen it; why then are ye become altogether vain?
13.זֶה, חֵלֶק-אָדָם רָשָׁע עִם-אֵל; וְנַחֲלַת עָרִיצִים, מִשַּׁדַּי יִקָּחוּ.Zeh, khelek-adam rashaw im-el; venakhalat aritzim, mishadday yikkaku.This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they receive from the Almighty.
14.אִם-יִרְבּוּ בָנָיו לְמוֹ-חָרֶב; וְצֶאֱצָאָיו, לֹא יִשְׂבְּעוּ-לָחֶם.im-yirbu banav lemo-kharev; vetze'eza'av, lo yisbe'u-lakhem.If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword; and his offspring shall not have bread enough.
15.שְׂרִידָו, בַּמָּוֶת יִקָּבֵרוּ; וְאַלְמְנֹתָיו, לֹא תִבְכֶּינָה.seridav, bamavet yikaveru; ve'almenotav, lo tivkenah.Those that remain of him shall be buried by pestilence, and his widows shall make no lamentation.
16.אִם-יִצְבֹּר כֶּעָפָר כָּסֶף; וְכַחֹמֶר, יָכִין מַלְבּוּשׁ.im-yitzbor ke'afar kaseph; vekhakhotemer, yakhin malbush.Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay;
17.יָכִין, וְצַדִּיק יִלְבָּשׁ; וְכֶסֶף, נָקִי יַחֲלֹק.yakhin, vetzaddik yilbash; vekheseph, naki yakhalok.He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
18.בָּנָה כָעָשׁ בֵּיתוֹ; וּכְסֻכָּה, עָשָׂה נֹצֵר.banah kha'ash beito; ukhsukah, ashah notzer.He buildeth his house as a moth, and as a booth which the keeper maketh.
19.עָשִׁיר יִשְׁכַּב, וְלֹא יֵאָסֵף; עֵינָיו פָּקַח וְאֵינֶנּוּ.ashir yishkav, velo ye'asef; einav pakakh ve'einenu.He lieth down rich, but there shall be nought to gather; he openeth his eyes, and his wealth is not.
20.תַּשִּׂיגֵהוּ כַמַּיִם, בַּלָּהוֹת; לַיְלָה, גְּנָבַתּוּ סוּפָה.tasidehu kamayim, balahot; laylah, genavattu sufah.Terrors overtake him like waters; a tempest stealeth him away in the night.
21.יִשָּׂאֵהוּ קָדִים וְיֵלַךְ; וִישָׂעֲרֵהוּ, מִמְּקֹמוֹ.yisa'ehu kadim veyelakh; vis'arehu, mimekomo.The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth; and it sweepeth him out of his place.
22.וְיַשְׁלֵךְ עָלָיו, וְלֹא יַחְמֹל; מִיָּדוֹ, בָּרוֹחַ יִבְרָח.ve'yashlek alav, ve'lo yakhmol; mi'yado, barokh yivrakh.Yea, it hurleth at him, and spareth not; he would fain flee from its power.
23.יִשְׂפֹּק עָלֵימוֹ כַפֵּימוֹ; וְיִשְׁרֹק עָלָיו, מִמְּקֹמוֹ.yishpok aleymo kafeymo; ve'yishrok alav, mi'mekomo.Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.
