וַיַּעַן, בִּלְדַּד הַשֻּׁחִי; וַיֹּאמַר.
vaya'an, bildad hashukhi; vayomar.
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said:
2.
עַד-אָנָה, תְּשִׂימוּן קִנְצֵי לְמִלִּין; תָּבִינוּ, וְאַחַר נְדַבֵּר.
ad-anah, tesimun kintzei lemillin; tavinu, ve'akhar nedaber.
How long will ye lay snares for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.

מַדּוּעַ, נֶחְשַׁבְנוּ כַבְּהֵמָה; נִטְמִינוּ, בְּעֵינֵיכֶם.
madu'a, nekhshavnu khavhemah; nitminu, be'eineikhem.
Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed dull in your sight?

טֹרֵף נַפְשׁוֹ, בְּאַפּוֹ: הַלְמַעַנְךָ, תֵּעָזַב אָרֶץ; וְיֶעְתַּק-צוּר, מִמְּקֹמוֹ.
toref nafsho, be'apo: halma'ankha, te'azav oretz; ve'ye'tak-tzur, mimekomo.
Thou that tearest thyself in thine anger, shall the earth be forsaken for thee? Or shall the rock be removed out of its place?
5.
גַּם אוֹר רְשָׁעִים יִדְעָךְ; וְלֹא-יִגַּהּ, שְׁבִיב אִשּׁוֹ.
gam or resha'im yidakh; ve'lo-yigah, sheviv isho.
Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
6.
אוֹר, חָשַׁךְ בְּאָהֳלוֹ; וְנֵרוֹ, עָלָיו יִדְעָךְ.
or, khashakh be'oholo; ve'nero, alav yidakh.
The light shall be dark in his tent, and his lamp over him shall be put out.
7.
יֵצְרוּ, צַעֲדֵי אוֹנוֹ; וְתַשְׁלִיכֵהוּ עֲצָתוֹ.
yetzru, tza'adei ono; vetashlikhehu atzato.
The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
8.
כִּי-שֻׁלַּח בְּרֶשֶׁת בְּרַגְלָיו; וְעַל-שְׂבָכָה, יִתְהַלָּךְ.
ki-shullach bereshet beraglav; ve'al-svechah, yithallakh.
For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon the toils.
9.
יֹאחֵז בְּעָקֵב פָּח; יַחֲזֵק עָלָיו צַמִּים.
yo'chez be'akev pach; yachazek alav tzamim.
A gin shall take him by the heel, and a snare shall lay hold on him.
10.
טָמוּן בָּאָרֶץ חַבְלוֹ; וּמַלְכֻּדְתּוֹ, עֲלֵי נָתִיב.
tamun ba'aretz chavlo; umalkudto, alei nativ.
A noose is hid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
11.
סָבִיב, בִּעֲתֻהוּ בַלָּהוֹת; וֶהֱפִיצֻהוּ לְרַגְלָיו.
saviv, bi'atuhu vallahot; vehefitzuhu leraglav.
Terrors shall overwhelm him on every side, and shall entrap him at his feet.
12.
יְהִי-רָעֵב אֹנוֹ; וְאֵיד, נָכוֹן לְצַלְעוֹ.
yehi-ra'ev ono; ve'eid, nakhon letzal'o.
His trouble shall be ravenous, and calamity shall be ready for his fall.
13.
יֹאכַל, בַּדֵּי עוֹרוֹ; יֹאכַל בַּדָּיו, בְּכוֹר מָוֶת.
tokhal, baddei oro; yokhal baddav, bekhor mavet.
It shall devour the members of his body, yea, the first-born of death shall devour his members.
14.
יִנָּתֵק מֵאָהֳלוֹ, מִבְטַחוֹ; וְתַצְעִדֵהוּ, לְמֶלֶךְ בַּלָּהוֹת.
yinnatek me'oholo, mivtaho; vetatz'edehu, lemelekh ballahot.
That wherein he trusteth shall be plucked out of his tent; and he shall be brought to the king of terrors.
15.
תִּשְׁכּוֹן בְּאָהֳלוֹ, מִבְּלִילוֹ; יְזֹרֶה עַל-נָוֵהוּ גָפְרִית.
tishkon be'oholo mibelilo yezoreh al-navehu gafrit
There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his; brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
16.
מִתַּחַת, שָׁרָשָׁיו יִבָשׁוּ; וּמִמַּעַל, יִמַּל קְצִירוֹ.
mitachat sharashav yvashu uimmuneal yimal ketziro
His roots shall dry up beneath, and above shall his branch wither.
17.
זִכְרוֹ-אָבַד, מִנִּי-אָרֶץ; וְלֹא-שֵׁם לוֹ, עַל-פְּנֵי-חוּץ.
zikhro-avad minni-aretz velo-shem lo al-penei-khutz
His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name abroad.
18.
יֶהְדְּפֻהוּ, מֵאוֹר אֶל-חֹשֶׁךְ; וּמִתֵּבֵל יְנִדֻּהוּ.
yehdéfuhu me'or el-khoshek umitevel yeniduhu
He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
19.
לֹא נִין לוֹ וְלֹא-נֶכֶד בְּעַמּוֹ; וְאֵין שָׂרִיד, בִּמְגוּרָיו.
lo nin lo velo-nekhed be'ammo; ve'ein sarid, bimgurav.
He shall have neither son nor son's son among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.
20.
עַל-יוֹמוֹ, נָשַׁמּוּ אַחֲרֹנִים; וְקַדְמֹנִים, אָחֲזוּ שָׂעַר.
'al-yomo, nashammu akharonim; vekadmonim, akhazu sha'ar.
They that come after shall be astonished at his day, as they that went before are affrighted.
21.
אַךְ-אֵלֶּה, מִשְׁכְּנוֹת עַוָּל; וְזֶה, מְקוֹם לֹא-יָדַע-אֵל.
akh-'eleh, mishkenot 'avval; vezeh, mekom lo-yada'-el.
Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
