אֲשֶׁר הָיָה דְבַר-יְהוָה אֶל-יִרְמְיָהוּ הַנָּבִיא, עַל-הַגּוֹיִם.
asher hayah devar-YHWH el-yirmeyahu hanavi, al-hagoyim.
The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.
2.
לְמִצְרַיִם, עַל-חֵיל פַּרְעֹה נְכוֹ מֶלֶךְ מִצְרַיִם, אֲשֶׁר-הָיָה עַל-נְהַר-פְּרָת, בְּכַרְכְּמִשׁ--אֲשֶׁר הִכָּה, נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל, בִּשְׁנַת הָרְבִיעִית, לִיהוֹיָקִים בֶּן-יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה.
lemitzrayim, 'al-kheil par'oh nekho melekh mitzrayim, asher-haya 'al-nehar-perat, bekarkhemish--asher hika, nevukhadretzar melekh bavel, bishnat harevivit, lihoyakim ben-yoshiyahu melekh yehudah.
Of Egypt: concerning the army of Pharaoh-neco king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah.
3.
עִרְכוּ מָגֵן וְצִנָּה, וּגְשׁוּ לַמִּלְחָמָה.
'irkhu magen vetzinah, ugeshu lamilhamah.
Make ready buckler and shield, and draw near to battle.
4.
אִסְרוּ הַסּוּסִים, וַעֲלוּ הַפָּרָשִׁים, וְהִתְיַצְּבוּ, בְּכוֹבָעִים; מִרְקוּ, הָרְמָחִים, לִבְשׁוּ, הַסִּרְיֹנֹת.
isru hassusim, va'alu haparashim, vehityatzvu, bekhova'im; mirku, haramakhim, livshu, hassiryonot.
Harness the horses, and mount, ye horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, put on the coats of mail.

מַדּוּעַ רָאִיתִי, הֵמָּה חַתִּים נְסֹגִים אָחוֹר, וְגִבּוֹרֵיהֶם יֻכַּתּוּ, וּמָנוֹס נָסוּ וְלֹא הִפְנוּ--מָגוֹר מִסָּבִיב, נְאֻם-יְהוָה.
madu'a ra'iti, hemah hattim nesogim akhor, vegiboreihem yukkattu, umanos nasu velo hifnu--magor missaviv, neum-YHWH.
Wherefore do I see them dismayed and turned backward? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and they are fled apace, and look not back; terror is on every side, saith the LORD.
6.
אַל-יָנוּס הַקַּל, וְאַל-יִמָּלֵט הַגִּבּוֹר; צָפוֹנָה עַל-יַד נְהַר-פְּרָת, כָּשְׁלוּ וְנָפָלוּ.
al-yanus ha-qal, ve'al-yimmalet ha-gibbor; tzafonah al-yad nehar-perat, kashlu ve-napalu.
The swift cannot flee away, nor the mighty man escape; in the north by the river Euphrates have they stumbled and fallen.
7.
מִי-זֶה, כַּיְאֹר יַעֲלֶה; כַּנְּהָרוֹת, יִתְגָּעֲשׁוּ מֵימָיו.
mi-zeh, kayor ya'aleh; kanneharot, yitga'ashu meimav.
Who is this like the Nile that riseth up, like the rivers whose waters toss themselves?
8.
מִצְרַיִם כַּיְאֹר יַעֲלֶה, וְכַנְּהָרוֹת יִתְגֹּעֲשׁוּ מָיִם; וַיֹּאמֶר, אַעֲלֶה אֲכַסֶּה-אֶרֶץ, אֹבִידָה עִיר, וְיֹשְׁבֵי בָהּ.
mitzrayim kayor ya'aleh, vechanneharot yitgo'ashu mayim; vayomer, a'aleh akasseh-eretz, ovidah ir, veyoshvei vah.
Egypt is like the Nile that riseth up, and like the rivers whose waters toss themselves; and he saith: 'I will rise up, I will cover the earth, I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.'
9.
עֲלוּ הַסּוּסִים וְהִתְהֹלְלוּ הָרֶכֶב, וְיֵצְאוּ הַגִּבּוֹרִים--כּוּשׁ וּפוּט, תֹּפְשֵׂי מָגֵן, וְלוּדִים, תֹּפְשֵׂי דֹּרְכֵי קָשֶׁת.
alu hassusim vehitholelu harechev, veyetze'u ha-gibborim--kush u-fut, tofsei magen, ve-ludim, tofsei dorkhei kashet.
Prance, ye horses, and rush madly, ye chariots; and let the mighty men go forth: Cush and Put, that handle the shield, and the Ludim, that handle and bend the bow.
10.
וְהַיּוֹם הַהוּא לַאדֹנָי יְהוִה צְבָאוֹת, יוֹם נְקָמָה לְהִנָּקֵם מִצָּרָיו, וְאָכְלָה חֶרֶב וְשָׂבְעָה, וְרָוְתָה מִדָּמָם: כִּי זֶבַח לַאדֹנָי יְהוִה צְבָאוֹת, בְּאֶרֶץ צָפוֹן--אֶל-נְהַר-פְּרָת.
vehayom hahu la'adonai yewih tseva'ot, yom nekamah lehinnakem mitstarav, ve'akhlah kherev wesa'vah, werawetah middamam: ki zevach la'adonai yewih tseva'ot, be'erets tsafon--el-nehar-perat.
For the Lord GOD of hosts shall have on that day a day of vengeance, that He may avenge Him of His adversaries; and the sword shall devour and be satiate, and shall be made drunk with their blood; for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
11.
עֲלִי גִלְעָד וּקְחִי צֳרִי, בְּתוּלַת בַּת-מִצְרָיִם; לַשָּׁוְא הרביתי הִרְבֵּית רְפֻאוֹת, תְּעָלָה אֵין לָךְ.
ali gil'ad ukkhi tsori, betulat bat-mitsrayim; lashshaw harbiti hirbeit refu'ot, te'alah ein lakh.
Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt; in vain dost thou use many medicines; there is no cure for thee.
12.
שָׁמְעוּ גוֹיִם קְלוֹנֵךְ, וְצִוְחָתֵךְ מָלְאָה הָאָרֶץ: כִּי-גִבּוֹר בְּגִבּוֹר כָּשָׁלוּ, יַחְדָּיו נָפְלוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם.
shame'u goyim kelonek, wetsivkhatek male'ah ha'aretz: ki-gibbor begibbor kashalu, yakhdaw naf-lu sheneihem.
The nations have heard of thy shame, and the earth is full of thy cry; for the mighty man hath stumbled against the mighty, they are fallen both of them together.
13.
הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה, אֶל-יִרְמְיָהוּ הַנָּבִיא--לָבוֹא, נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל, לְהַכּוֹת, אֶת-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.
hadavar asher dibber YHWH, el-yirmeyahu hannavi--lavovo, nevukhadretsar melekh bavel, lehakkot, et-erets mitsrayim.
The word that the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet, how that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and smite the land of Egypt.
14.
הַגִּידוּ בְמִצְרַיִם וְהַשְׁמִיעוּ בְמִגְדּוֹל, וְהַשְׁמִיעוּ בְנֹף וּבְתַחְפַּנְחֵס; אִמְרוּ, הִתְיַצֵּב וְהָכֵן לָךְ--כִּי-אָכְלָה חֶרֶב, סְבִיבֶיךָ.
haggidu ve'mitzrayim ve'hashmi'u ve'migdol, ve'hashmi'u ve'nof u've'takhpanphes; imru, hityatzev ve'hakhen lakh--ki-akhokhah kherev, sevivyekha.
Declare ye in Egypt, and announce in Migdol, and announce in Noph and in Tahpanhes; say ye: 'Stand forth, and prepare thee, for the sword hath devoured round about thee.'
15.
מַדּוּעַ, נִסְחַף אַבִּירֶיךָ: לֹא עָמַד, כִּי יְהוָה הֲדָפוֹ.
madu'a, niskhaf abbireykha: lo 'amad, ki YHWH hadafo.
Why is thy strong one overthrown? He stood not, because the LORD did thrust him down.
16.
הִרְבָּה, כּוֹשֵׁל; גַּם-נָפַל אִישׁ אֶל-רֵעֵהוּ, וַיֹּאמְרוּ קוּמָה וְנָשֻׁבָה אֶל-עַמֵּנוּ וְאֶל-אֶרֶץ מוֹלַדְתֵּנוּ, מִפְּנֵי, חֶרֶב הַיּוֹנָה.
hirbah, koshil; gam-nafal ish el-re'ehu, ve'yomru qumah ve'nashuvah el-'amenu ve'el-eretz moledetenu, mippenei, kherev hayyonah.
He made many to stumble; yea, they fell one upon another, and said: 'Arise, and let us return to our own people, and to the land of our birth, from the oppressing sword.'
17.
קָרְאוּ, שָׁם, פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ-מִצְרַיִם שָׁאוֹן, הֶעֱבִיר הַמּוֹעֵד.
qaru, sham, Par'oh melekh-mitzrayim sha'on, he'evir hammo'ed.
They cried there: 'Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he hath let the appointed time pass by.'
18.
חַי-אָנִי, נְאֻם-הַמֶּלֶךְ--יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת, שְׁמוֹ: כִּי כְּתָבוֹר בֶּהָרִים, וּכְכַרְמֶל בַּיָּם יָבוֹא.
chai-ani, neum-hammelekh--YHWH tzevaot, shemo: ki khetavor beharim, ukhkharmel bayam yavo.
As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, surely like Tabor among the mountains, and like Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.
19.
כְּלֵי גוֹלָה עֲשִׂי לָךְ, יוֹשֶׁבֶת בַּת-מִצְרָיִם: כִּי-נֹף לְשַׁמָּה תִהְיֶה, וְנִצְּתָה מֵאֵין יוֹשֵׁב.
klei golah asi lakh, yoshevet bat-mitzrayim: ki-nof leshamma tihyeh, venitzta me'ein yoshev.
O thou daughter that dwellest in Egypt, furnish thyself to go into captivity; for Noph shall become a desolation, and shall be laid waste, without inhabitant.
20.
עֶגְלָה יְפֵה-פִיָּה, מִצְרָיִם; קֶרֶץ מִצָּפוֹן, בָּא בָא.
eglah yfeh-fiyah, mitzrayim; qeretz mitzafon, ba ba.
Egypt is a very fair heifer; but the gadfly out of the north is come, it is come.
21.
גַּם-שְׂכִרֶיהָ בְקִרְבָּהּ כְּעֶגְלֵי מַרְבֵּק, כִּי-גַם-הֵמָּה הִפְנוּ נָסוּ יַחְדָּיו לֹא עָמָדוּ: כִּי יוֹם אֵידָם בָּא עֲלֵיהֶם, עֵת פְּקֻדָּתָם.
gam-skhireha vekirbah ke'eglei marbek, ki-gam-hemma hifnu nasu yachdav lo amadu: ki yom eidam ba alehem, et pequdatam.
Also her mercenaries in the midst of her are like calves of the stall, for they also are turned back, they are fled away together, they did not stand; for the day of their calamity is come upon them, the time of their visitation.
22.
קוֹלָהּ, כַּנָּחָשׁ יֵלֵךְ: כִּי-בְחַיִל יֵלֵכוּ--וּבְקַרְדֻּמּוֹת בָּאוּ לָהּ, כְּחֹטְבֵי עֵצִים.
kolah, kanakhash yelekh: ki-vekha yil yelekh--uvekardumot ba'u lah, kekhotvei etsim.
The sound thereof shall go like the serpent's; for they march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.
23.
כָּרְתוּ יַעְרָהּ נְאֻם-יְהוָה, כִּי לֹא יֵחָקֵר: כִּי רַבּוּ מֵאַרְבֶּה, וְאֵין לָהֶם מִסְפָּר.
karetu ya'arah ne'um-YHWH, ki lo yeする場合はs - ki lo yehaker: ki rabbu me'arbeh, ve'ein lahem mispar.
They cut down her forest, saith the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the locusts, and are innumerable.
24.
הֹבִישָׁה, בַּת-מִצְרָיִם; נִתְּנָה, בְּיַד עַם-צָפוֹן.
hovishah, bat-mitzrayim; nit'nah, beyad am-tsafon.
The daughter of Egypt is put to shame; she is delivered into the hand of the people of the north.
25.
אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, הִנְנִי פוֹקֵד אֶל-אָמוֹן מִנֹּא, וְעַל-פַּרְעֹה וְעַל-מִצְרַיִם, וְעַל-אֱלֹהֶיהָ וְעַל-מְלָכֶיהָ; וְעַל-פַּרְעֹה--וְעַל הַבֹּטְחִים, בּוֹ.
amar YHWH tseva'ot Elohei Yisrael, hinni foked el-amon mino, ve'al-par'oh ve'al-mitzrayim, ve'al-eloheha ve'al-melakheha; ve'al-par'oh--ve'al habotchim, bo.
The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saith: Behold, I will punish Amon of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with her gods, and her kings; even Pharaoh, and them that trust in him;
26.
וּנְתַתִּים, בְּיַד מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשָׁם, וּבְיַד נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ-בָּבֶל, וּבְיַד-עֲבָדָיו; וְאַחֲרֵי-כֵן תִּשְׁכֹּן כִּימֵי-קֶדֶם, נְאֻם-יְהוָה.
unetatim, beyad mevakshey nafsham, uveyad nevukhadretzar melekh-bavel, uveyad-avadav; ve'aharey-khen tishkon kimey-kedem, ne'um-YHWH.
and I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants; and afterwards it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the LORD.
27.
וְאַתָּה אַל-תִּירָא עַבְדִּי יַעֲקֹב, וְאַל-תֵּחַת יִשְׂרָאֵל--כִּי הִנְנִי מוֹשִׁעֲךָ מֵרָחוֹק, וְאֶת-זַרְעֲךָ מֵאֶרֶץ שִׁבְיָם; וְשָׁב יַעֲקוֹב וְשָׁקַט וְשַׁאֲנַן, וְאֵין מַחֲרִיד.
ve'atah al-tira avdi Ya'akov, ve'al-tehat Yisrael--ki hineni mosh'akha merahok, ve'et-zar'akha me'eretz shivyam; ve'shav Ya'akov ve'shaqat ve'sha'anan, ve'ein maharid.
But fear not thou, O Jacob My servant, neither be dismayed, O Israel; for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall again be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.
28.
אַתָּה אַל-תִּירָא עַבְדִּי יַעֲקֹב, נְאֻם-יְהוָה--כִּי אִתְּךָ, אָנִי: כִּי אֶעֱשֶׂה כָלָה בְּכָל-הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר הִדַּחְתִּיךָ שָּׁמָּה, וְאֹתְךָ לֹא-אֶעֱשֶׂה כָלָה, וְיִסַּרְתִּיךָ לַמִּשְׁפָּט, וְנַקֵּה לֹא אֲנַקֶּךָּ.
atah al-tira avdi Ya'akov, ne'um-YHWH--ki itkha, ani: ki e'eseh khalah bekhol-hagoyim asher hidadhtikha shamah, ve'otkha lo-e'eseh khalah, ve'yisartikha lamishpat, ve'naqeh lo anaqeka.
Fear not thou, O Jacob My servant, saith the LORD, for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee, but I will not make a full end of thee; and I will correct thee in measure, but will not utterly destroy thee.
