כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה, הָלֹךְ וְקָנִיתָ בַקְבֻּק יוֹצֵר חָרֶשׂ; וּמִזִּקְנֵי הָעָם, וּמִזִּקְנֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים.
koh amar YHWH, halokh vekanita vakbuk yotzer khares; umizziknei ha'am, umizziknei hakkohanim.
Thus said the LORD: Go, and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;
2.
וְיָצָאתָ, אֶל-גֵּיא בֶן-הִנֹּם, אֲשֶׁר, פֶּתַח שַׁעַר החרסות הַחַרְסִית; וְקָרָאתָ שָּׁם, אֶת-הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר-אֲדַבֵּר אֵלֶיךָ.
veyatzata, el-gey ven-hinnom, asher, petach sha'ar hacharsit; vekarata sham, et-haddvarim asher-adaber eleicha.
and go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee;

וְאָמַרְתָּ, שִׁמְעוּ דְבַר-יְהוָה, מַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה, וְיֹשְׁבֵי יְרוּשָׁלִָם; כֹּה-אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, הִנְנִי מֵבִיא רָעָה עַל-הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה, אֲשֶׁר כָּל-שֹׁמְעָהּ, תִּצַּלְנָה אָזְנָיו.
ve'amarta, shim'u devar-YHWH, malkei yehudah, veyoshvei yerushalayim; koh-amar YHWH tzva'ot elohei yisrael, hinni mevi ra'ah al-hamakom hazzeh, asher kol-shome'ah, titzalnah oznav.
and say: Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle;

יַעַן אֲשֶׁר עֲזָבֻנִי, וַיְנַכְּרוּ אֶת-הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה וַיְקַטְּרוּ-בוֹ לֵאלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים, אֲשֶׁר לֹא-יְדָעוּם הֵמָּה וַאֲבוֹתֵיהֶם, וּמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה; וּמָלְאוּ אֶת-הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה, דַּם נְקִיִּם.
ya'an asher azavuni, vaynakru et-hamakom hazeh vaykattru-vo le'elohim akherim, asher lo-yeda'um hemmah va'avoteihem, umalkei yehudah; umal'u et-hamakom hazeh, dam nekiyim.
because they have forsaken Me, and have estranged this place, and have offered in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah; and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;

וּבָנוּ אֶת-בָּמוֹת הַבַּעַל, לִשְׂרֹף אֶת-בְּנֵיהֶם בָּאֵשׁ--עֹלוֹת לַבָּעַל: אֲשֶׁר לֹא-צִוִּיתִי וְלֹא דִבַּרְתִּי, וְלֹא עָלְתָה עַל-לִבִּי.
uvanu et-bamot haba'al, lisrof et-bneihem ba'esh--olot laba'al: asher lo-tzivviti velo dibarti, velo alatah al-libbi.
and have built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons in the fire for burnt-offerings unto Baal; which I commanded not, nor spoke it, neither came it into My mind.

לָכֵן הִנֵּה-יָמִים בָּאִים, נְאֻם-יְהוָה, וְלֹא-יִקָּרֵא לַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה עוֹד הַתֹּפֶת, וְגֵיא בֶן-הִנֹּם--כִּי, אִם-גֵּיא הַהֲרֵגָה.
lakhen hinneh-yamim ba'im, neum-YHWH, velo-yikkarei lamakom hazeh od hatofet, vegei ven-hinnom--ki, im-gei haharegah.
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Topheth, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter;

וּבַקֹּתִי אֶת-עֲצַת יְהוּדָה וִירוּשָׁלִַם, בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה, וְהִפַּלְתִּים בַּחֶרֶב לִפְנֵי אֹיְבֵיהֶם, וּבְיַד מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשָׁם; וְנָתַתִּי אֶת-נִבְלָתָם לְמַאֲכָל, לְעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם וּלְבֶהֱמַת הָאָרֶץ.
uvakkoti et-atzat yehudah virushalayim, bamakom hazeh, vehipalltim bakherev lifnei oyveihem, uveyad mevakshei nafsham; venatatti et-nivlatam lema'akhal, le'of hashamayim ulevhemat ha'aretz.
and I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of them that seek their life; and their carcasses will I give to be food for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth;

וְשַׂמְתִּי אֶת-הָעִיר הַזֹּאת, לְשַׁמָּה וְלִשְׁרֵקָה: כֹּל עֹבֵר עָלֶיהָ, יִשֹּׁם וְיִשְׁרֹק עַל-כָּל-מַכֹּתֶהָ.
vesamti et-ha'ir hazot, leshamah velishrekah: kol oveh aleha, yishom veyishrok al-kol makoteha.
and I will make this city an astonishment, and a hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof;

וְהַאֲכַלְתִּים אֶת-בְּשַׂר בְּנֵיהֶם, וְאֵת בְּשַׂר בְּנֹתֵיהֶם, וְאִישׁ בְּשַׂר-רֵעֵהוּ, יֹאכֵלוּ; בְּמָצוֹר, וּבְמָצוֹק, אֲשֶׁר יָצִיקוּ לָהֶם אֹיְבֵיהֶם, וּמְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשָׁם.
veha'akaltim et-besar benehem, ve'et besar benotehem, ve'ish besar-re'ehu, yokhelu; bematzor, ubematzok, asher yatziku lahem oyvehem, umevakshei nafsham.
and I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend, in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their life, shall straiten them.
10.
וְשָׁבַרְתָּ, הַבַּקְבֻּק--לְעֵינֵי, הָאֲנָשִׁים, הַהֹלְכִים, אוֹתָךְ.
veshavarta, habakbuk--le'enei, ha'anashim, haholkhim, otakh.
Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,
11.
וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם כֹּה-אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת, כָּכָה אֶשְׁבֹּר אֶת-הָעָם הַזֶּה וְאֶת-הָעִיר הַזֹּאת, כַּאֲשֶׁר יִשְׁבֹּר אֶת-כְּלִי הַיּוֹצֵר, אֲשֶׁר לֹא-יוּכַל לְהֵרָפֵה עוֹד; וּבְתֹפֶת יִקְבְּרוּ, מֵאֵין מָקוֹם לִקְבּוֹר.
ve'amarta alehem koh-amar YHWH tzevaot, kakhah eshbor et-ha'am hazeh ve'et-ha'ir hazot, ka'asher yishbor et-keli hayotzer, asher lo-yukhal leherape od; uvetofet yikberu, me'ein makom likbor.
and shalt say unto them: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be made whole again; and they shall bury in Topheth, for want of room to bury.
12.
כֵּן-אֶעֱשֶׂה לַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה, נְאֻם-יְהוָה--וּלְיוֹשְׁבָיו; וְלָתֵת אֶת-הָעִיר הַזֹּאת, כְּתֹפֶת.
ken-e'eseh lamakom hazzeh, ne'um-YHWH--ul-yoshavav; velatet et-ha'ir hazzot, ketofet.
Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, even making this city as Topheth;
13.
וְהָיוּ בָּתֵּי יְרוּשָׁלִַם, וּבָתֵּי מַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה, כִּמְקוֹם הַתֹּפֶת, הַטְּמֵאִים--לְכֹל הַבָּתִּים, אֲשֶׁר קִטְּרוּ עַל-גַּגֹּתֵיהֶם לְכֹל צְבָא הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְהַסֵּךְ נְסָכִים, לֵאלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים.
vehayu battei Yerushalayim, ubattei malkei Yehuda, kimkom hattopet, hatteme'im--lekhol habattim, asher qitteru al-gaggoteihem lekhol tzva hashamayim, vehasekh nesakhim, lelohim akherim.
and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are defiled, shall be as the place of Topheth, even all the houses upon whose roofs they have offered unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink-offerings unto other gods.
14.
וַיָּבֹא יִרְמְיָהוּ מֵהַתֹּפֶת, אֲשֶׁר שְׁלָחוֹ יְהוָה שָׁם לְהִנָּבֵא; וַיַּעֲמֹד בַּחֲצַר בֵּית-יְהוָה, וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל-כָּל-הָעָם.
vayyavo Yirmiyahu mehatopet, asher shelakho YHWH sham lehinnavo; vayya'amod bekhatzar beit-YHWH, vayyomer el-kol-ha'am.
Then came Jeremiah from Topheth, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD'S house, and said to all the people:
15.
כֹּה-אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת, אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, הִנְנִי מֵבִי אֶל-הָעִיר הַזֹּאת וְעַל-כָּל-עָרֶיהָ, אֵת כָּל-הָרָעָה אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתִּי עָלֶיהָ: כִּי הִקְשׁוּ אֶת-עָרְפָּם, לְבִלְתִּי שְׁמוֹעַ אֶת-דְּבָרָי.
koh-amar YHWH tzva'ot, Elohei Yisrael, hinni mevi el-ha'ir hazzot ve'al-kol-areha, et kol-hara'ah asher dibbartiy aleha: ki hiqshu et-orpam, levilti shamo'a et-devaray.
'Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it; because they have made their neck stiff, that they might not hear My words.'
