1.
בָּנִים אַתֶּם, לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם: לֹא תִתְגֹּדְדוּ, וְלֹא-תָשִׂימוּ קָרְחָה בֵּין עֵינֵיכֶם--לָמֵת.
banim atem, laYHWH Eloheikhem: lo titgodedu, velo-tasimu karhah bein eineikhem--lamet.
Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
2.
כִּי עַם קָדוֹשׁ אַתָּה, לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ; וּבְךָ בָּחַר יְהוָה, לִהְיוֹת לוֹ לְעַם סְגֻלָּה, מִכֹּל הָעַמִּים, אֲשֶׁר עַל-פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה.
ki am kadosh atah, laYHWH Elohekha; uvekha bahar YHWH, lihyot lo le'am segulah, mikol ha'amim, asher al-penei ha'adamah.
For thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be His own treasure out of all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.
3.
לֹא תֹאכַל, כָּל-תּוֹעֵבָה.
Lo tokhal, kol-to'evah.
Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
4.
זֹאת הַבְּהֵמָה, אֲשֶׁר תֹּאכֵלוּ: שׁוֹר, שֵׂה כְשָׂבִים וְשֵׂה עִזִּים.
Zot habehemah, asher tokhelu: shor, seh kheshavim veseh ezzim.
These are the beasts which ye may eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,
5.
אַיָּל וּצְבִי, וְיַחְמוּר; וְאַקּוֹ וְדִישֹׁן, וּתְאוֹ וָזָמֶר.
Ayal utzevi, veyakhmur; ve'akko vedishon, ute'o vazamer.
the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the antelope, and the mountain-sheep.
6.
וְכָל-בְּהֵמָה מַפְרֶסֶת פַּרְסָה, וְשֹׁסַעַת שֶׁסַע שְׁתֵּי פְרָסוֹת, מַעֲלַת גֵּרָה, בַּבְּהֵמָה--אֹתָהּ, תֹּאכֵלוּ.
Vekhal-behemah mafreset farsah, wosho'at shesa' shetei ferasot, ma'alat gerah, babehemah--otah, tokhelu.
And every beast that parteth the hoof, and hath the hoof wholly cloven in two, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye may eat.
7.
אַךְ אֶת-זֶה לֹא תֹאכְלוּ, מִמַּעֲלֵי הַגֵּרָה, וּמִמַּפְרִיסֵי הַפַּרְסָה, הַשְּׁסוּעָה: אֶת-הַגָּמָל וְאֶת-הָאַרְנֶבֶת וְאֶת-הַשָּׁפָן כִּי-מַעֲלֵה גֵרָה הֵמָּה, וּפַרְסָה לֹא הִפְרִיסוּ--טְמֵאִים הֵם, לָכֶם.
akh et-zeh lo tokhelu, mima'alei hagerah, u-mimaprisei haparsah, hashsu'ah: et-hagamal ve'et-ha'arnevet ve'et-hashafan ki-ma'aleh gerah hemah, u-parsah lo hifrisu--teme'im hem, lakhem.
Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that only chew the cud, or of them that only have the hoof cloven: the camel, and the hare, and the rock-badger, because they chew the cud but part not the hoof, they are unclean unto you;
8.
וְאֶת-הַחֲזִיר כִּי-מַפְרִיס פַּרְסָה הוּא, וְלֹא גֵרָה--טָמֵא הוּא, לָכֶם; מִבְּשָׂרָם לֹא תֹאכֵלוּ, וּבְנִבְלָתָם לֹא תִגָּעוּ.
ve'et-hakhazir ki-mafris parsah hu, ve-lo gerah--tame hu, lakhem; mi-besaram lo tokhelu, u-venvilatam lo tiga'u.
and the swine, because he parteth the hoof but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you; of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcasses ye shall not touch.
9.
אֶת-זֶה, תֹּאכְלוּ, מִכֹּל, אֲשֶׁר בַּמָּיִם: כֹּל אֲשֶׁר-לוֹ סְנַפִּיר וְקַשְׂקֶשֶׂת, תֹּאכֵלוּ.
et-zeh, tokhelu, mikol, asher bamayim: kol asher-lo sanafir ve-kaskeshet, tokhelu.
These ye may eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales may ye eat;
10.
וְכֹל אֲשֶׁר אֵין-לוֹ סְנַפִּיר וְקַשְׂקֶשֶׂת, לֹא תֹאכֵלוּ--טָמֵא הוּא, לָכֶם.
ve-kol asher ein-lo sanafir ve-kaskeshet, lo tokhelu--tame hu, lakhem.
and whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat; it is unclean unto you.
11.
כָּל-צִפּוֹר טְהֹרָה, תֹּאכֵלוּ.
kol-tzipor tehorah, tochelu.
Of all clean birds ye may eat.
12.
וְזֶה, אֲשֶׁר לֹא-תֹאכְלוּ מֵהֶם: הַנֶּשֶׁר וְהַפֶּרֶס, וְהָעָזְנִיָּה.
vezeh, asher lo-tokhelu mehem: hanesher vehaperes, veha'azniyah.
But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the great vulture, and the bearded vulture, and the ospray;
13.
וְהָרָאָה, וְאֶת-הָאַיָּה, וְהַדַּיָּה, לְמִינָהּ.
veharah, ve'et-ha'ayah, vehadayah, leminah.
and the glede, and the falcon, and the kite after its kinds;
14.
וְאֵת כָּל-עֹרֵב, לְמִינוֹ.
ve'et kol-orev, lemino.
and every raven after its kinds;
15.
וְאֵת בַּת הַיַּעֲנָה, וְאֶת-הַתַּחְמָס וְאֶת-הַשָּׁחַף; וְאֶת-הַנֵּץ, לְמִינֵהוּ.
ve'et bat haya'anah, ve'et-hatachmas ve'et-hashachaf; ve'et-hanetz, leminehu.
and the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the sea-mew, and the hawk after its kinds;
16.
אֶת-הַכּוֹס וְאֶת-הַיַּנְשׁוּף, וְהַתִּנְשָׁמֶת.
et-hakos ve'et-hayanshuf, vehatinshamet.
the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl;
17.
וְהַקָּאָת וְאֶת-הָרָחָמָה, וְאֶת-הַשָּׁלָךְ.
vehaqa'at ve'et-harachamah, ve'et-hashalach.
and the pelican, and the carrion-vulture, and the cormorant;
18.
וְהַחֲסִידָה, וְהָאֲנָפָה לְמִינָהּ; וְהַדּוּכִיפַת, וְהָעֲטַלֵּף.
vehachasidah, veha'anafah leminah; vehaduchifat, veha'ataleff.
and the stork, and the heron after its kinds, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
19.
וְכֹל שֶׁרֶץ הָעוֹף, טָמֵא הוּא לָכֶם: לֹא, יֵאָכֵלוּ.
ve'chol sheretz ha'of, tame hu lakhem: lo, ye'akhelu.
And all winged swarming things are unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten.
20.
כָּל-עוֹף טָהוֹר, תֹּאכֵלוּ.
kol-of tahor, to'akelu.
Of all clean winged things ye may eat.
21.
לֹא תֹאכְלוּ כָל-נְבֵלָה לַגֵּר אֲשֶׁר-בִּשְׁעָרֶיךָ תִּתְּנֶנָּה וַאֲכָלָהּ, אוֹ מָכֹר לְנָכְרִי--כִּי עַם קָדוֹשׁ אַתָּה, לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ; לֹא-תְבַשֵּׁל גְּדִי, בַּחֲלֵב אִמּוֹ.
lo tokhlu khal-nevelah lager asher-bish'areykha tit'nenah va'akhalah, o makhor lenokhri--ki am kadosh attah, laYHWH Elohekha; lo-tevashel gedi, bakhalev immo.
Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself; thou mayest give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto a foreigner; for thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in its mother's milk.
22.
עַשֵּׂר תְּעַשֵּׂר, אֵת כָּל-תְּבוּאַת זַרְעֶךָ, הַיֹּצֵא הַשָּׂדֶה, שָׁנָה שָׁנָה.
aser te'aser, et kol-tevu'at zar'ekha, hayotze hasadeh, shanah shanah.
Thou shalt surely tithe all the increase of thy seed, that which is brought forth in the field year by year.
23.
וְאָכַלְתָּ לִפְנֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, בַּמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר-יִבְחַר לְשַׁכֵּן שְׁמוֹ שָׁם, מַעְשַׂר דְּגָנְךָ תִּירֹשְׁךָ וְיִצְהָרֶךָ, וּבְכֹרֹת בְּקָרְךָ וְצֹאנֶךָ: לְמַעַן תִּלְמַד, לְיִרְאָה אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ--כָּל-הַיָּמִים.
ve'akhalta lifnei YHWH Elohekha, bamakom asher-yivkhar leshaken shemo sham, ma'asar deganekha tirodekha veyitzharekha, uvkhorot beqarekha vetzonekha: lema'an tilmad, leyir'ah et-YHWH Elohekha--kol-hayamim.
And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which He shall choose to cause His name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd and of thy flock; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
24.
וְכִי-יִרְבֶּה מִמְּךָ הַדֶּרֶךְ, כִּי לֹא תוּכַל שְׂאֵתוֹ--כִּי-יִרְחַק מִמְּךָ הַמָּקוֹם, אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לָשׂוּם שְׁמוֹ שָׁם: כִּי יְבָרֶכְךָ, יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ.
vekhi-yirbeh mimekha haderekh, ki lo tukhal se'eto--ki-yirhaq mimekha hamakom, asher yivkhar YHWH Elohekha lasum shemo sham: ki yevarekhekha, YHWH Elohekha.
And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set His name there, when the LORD thy God shall bless thee;
25.
וְנָתַתָּה, בַּכָּסֶף; וְצַרְתָּ הַכֶּסֶף, בְּיָדְךָ, וְהָלַכְתָּ אֶל-הַמָּקוֹם, אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ בּוֹ.
venatata, bakkaseph; veצarta hakesepheh, beyadkha, vehalakhta el-hamakom, asher yivkhar YHWH Elohekha bo.
then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thy hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose.
26.
וְנָתַתָּה הַכֶּסֶף בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-תְּאַוֶּה נַפְשְׁךָ בַּבָּקָר וּבַצֹּאן, וּבַיַּיִן וּבַשֵּׁכָר, וּבְכֹל אֲשֶׁר תִּשְׁאָלְךָ, נַפְשֶׁךָ; וְאָכַלְתָּ שָּׁם, לִפְנֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, וְשָׂמַחְתָּ, אַתָּה וּבֵיתֶךָ.
venatata hakeseph bekhol asher-te'aveh nafshekha babbakar uvatzon, uvayyayin ubashekar, uvvekhol asher tish'alekha, nafshekha; ve'akhalta sham, lifnei YHWH Elohekha, vesamakhta, attah uveitekha.
And thou shalt bestow the money for whatsoever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thy household.
27.
וְהַלֵּוִי אֲשֶׁר-בִּשְׁעָרֶיךָ, לֹא תַעַזְבֶנּוּ: כִּי אֵין לוֹ חֵלֶק וְנַחֲלָה, עִמָּךְ.
vehalevi asher-bish'areikha, lo ta'azvennu: ki ein lo khelek venakhalah, immakh.
And the Levite that is within thy gates, thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.
28.
מִקְצֵה שָׁלֹשׁ שָׁנִים, תּוֹצִיא אֶת-כָּל-מַעְשַׂר תְּבוּאָתְךָ, בַּשָּׁנָה, הַהִוא; וְהִנַּחְתָּ, בִּשְׁעָרֶיךָ.
miktzeh shalosh shanim, tot-si et-kol-ma'sar tevu'atkha, bashanah, hahiw; vehinakta, bish'areikha.
At the end of every three years, even in the same year, thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase, and shall lay it up within thy gates.
29.
וּבָא הַלֵּוִי כִּי אֵין-לוֹ חֵלֶק וְנַחֲלָה עִמָּךְ, וְהַגֵּר וְהַיָּתוֹם וְהָאַלְמָנָה אֲשֶׁר בִּשְׁעָרֶיךָ, וְאָכְלוּ, וְשָׂבֵעוּ--לְמַעַן יְבָרֶכְךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, בְּכָל-מַעֲשֵׂה יָדְךָ אֲשֶׁר תַּעֲשֶׂה.
uba halevi ki ein-lo khelek venakhalah immakh, vehager vehayatom veha'almanah asher bish'areikha, ve'akhlu, vesave'u--lema'an yevarekhekha YHWH Elohekha, bekhol-ma'aseh yadkha asher ta'aseh.
And the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.
