1.
בְּיָמָיו עָלָה, נְבֻכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל; וַיְהִי-לוֹ יְהוֹיָקִים עֶבֶד שָׁלֹשׁ שָׁנִים, וַיָּשָׁב וַיִּמְרָד-בּוֹ.
beyamav alah, nevukhadnetzar melekh bavel; vayehi-lo Yehoyakim eved shalosh shanim, vayashav vayimrad-bo.
In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years; then he turned and rebelled against him.
2.
וַיְשַׁלַּח יְהוָה בּוֹ אֶת-גְּדוּדֵי כַשְׂדִּים וְאֶת-גְּדוּדֵי אֲרָם וְאֵת גְּדוּדֵי מוֹאָב, וְאֵת גְּדוּדֵי בְנֵי-עַמּוֹן, וַיְשַׁלְּחֵם בִּיהוּדָה, לְהַאֲבִידוֹ: כִּדְבַר יְהוָה--אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר, בְּיַד עֲבָדָיו הַנְּבִיאִים.
vayshallah YHWH bo et-gedudei kasdim ve-et gedudei aram ve-et gedudei moav, ve-et gedudei venei-ammon, vayshallhem bihudah, leha'avido: kidvar YHWH--asher diber, beyad avadav hanevi'im.
And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldeans, and bands of the Arameans, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD, which He spoke by the hand of His servants the prophets.
3.
אַךְ עַל-פִּי יְהוָה, הָיְתָה בִּיהוּדָה, לְהָסִיר, מֵעַל פָּנָיו--בְּחַטֹּאת מְנַשֶּׁה, כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה.
Akh al-pi YHWH, haytah biYehudah, lehasir, me'al panav--behatot menasheh, kekhol asher asah.
Surely at the commandment of the LORD came this upon Judah, to remove them out of His sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did;
4.
וְגַם דַּם-הַנָּקִי אֲשֶׁר שָׁפָךְ, וַיְמַלֵּא אֶת-יְרוּשָׁלִַם דָּם נָקִי; וְלֹא-אָבָה יְהוָה, לִסְלֹחַ.
Ve'gam dam-hanaki asher shafakh, vaymaleh et-Yerushalayim dam naki; ve'lo-avah YHWH, lisloach.
and also for the innocent blood that he shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; and the LORD would not pardon.

וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יְהוֹיָקִים, וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה: הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים, עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים--לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה.
Ve'yeter divrei Yehoyakim, ve'khol-asher asah: halo-hem ketuvim, al-sefer divrei hayamim--lemalkhei Yehudah.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
6.
וַיִּשְׁכַּב יְהוֹיָקִים, עִם-אֲבֹתָיו; וַיִּמְלֹךְ יְהוֹיָכִין בְּנוֹ, תַּחְתָּיו.
Vayishkav Yehoyakim, im-avotav; vayimlokh Yehoyachin beno, takhtav.
So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers; and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.
7.
וְלֹא-הֹסִיף עוֹד מֶלֶךְ מִצְרַיִם, לָצֵאת מֵאַרְצוֹ: כִּי-לָקַח מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל, מִנַּחַל מִצְרַיִם עַד-נְהַר-פְּרָת, כֹּל אֲשֶׁר הָיְתָה, לְמֶלֶךְ מִצְרָיִם.
velo-hosif od melekh mitzrayim, latzet me'artzo: ki-lakach melekh bavel, minachal mitzrayim ad-nehar-perat, kol asher haytah, lemelekh mitzrayim.
And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land; for the king of Babylon had taken, from the Brook of Egypt unto the river Euphrates, all that pertained to the king of Egypt.
8.
בֶּן-שְׁמֹנֶה עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה, יְהוֹיָכִין בְּמָלְכוֹ, וּשְׁלֹשָׁה חֳדָשִׁים, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ, נְחֻשְׁתָּא בַת-אֶלְנָתָן מִירוּשָׁלִָם.
ben-shmoneh esreh shanah, yehoyakhin bemalkho, ushloshah chodashim, malakh birushalayim; veshem imoo, nechushta vat-elnatan mirushalayim.
Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign; and he reigned in Jerusalem three months; and his mother's name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
9.
וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה, כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה, אָבִיו.
vaya'as hara, be'eynei YHWH, kekhol asher-asah, aviv.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father had done.
10.
בָּעֵת הַהִיא--עלה עָלוּ עַבְדֵי נְבֻכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ-בָּבֶל, יְרוּשָׁלִָם; וַתָּבֹא הָעִיר, בַּמָּצוֹר.
ba'et hahi--alu avdei nevukhadnetzar melekh-bavel, yerushalayim; vattavo hair, bammatzor.
At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
11.
וַיָּבֹא נְבֻכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ-בָּבֶל, עַל-הָעִיר; וַעֲבָדָיו, צָרִים עָלֶיהָ.
vayavo nevukhadnetzar melekh-bavel, al-ha'ir; va'avadav, tzarim aleha.
And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came unto the city, while his servants were besieging it.
12.
וַיֵּצֵא יְהוֹיָכִין מֶלֶךְ-יְהוּדָה, עַל-מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל, הוּא וְאִמּוֹ, וַעֲבָדָיו וְשָׂרָיו וְסָרִיסָיו; וַיִּקַּח אֹתוֹ מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל, בִּשְׁנַת שְׁמֹנֶה לְמָלְכוֹ.
vayetze yehoyakhin melekh-yehudah, al-melekh bavel, hu ve'immo, va'avadav vesarav vesarisav; vayikkach oto melekh bavel, bishnat shemoneh lemal kho.
And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers; and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.
13.
וַיּוֹצֵא מִשָּׁם, אֶת-כָּל-אוֹצְרוֹת בֵּית יְהוָה, וְאוֹצְרוֹת, בֵּית הַמֶּלֶךְ; וַיְקַצֵּץ אֶת-כָּל-כְּלֵי הַזָּהָב, אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה שְׁלֹמֹה מֶלֶךְ-יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּהֵיכַל יְהוָה, כַּאֲשֶׁר, דִּבֶּר יְהוָה.
vayotzei misham, et-kol-otzrot beit YHWH, ve'otrotzot, beit hamlekh; vaykatzeitz et-kol-kelei hazahav, asher asah shlomo melekh-yisrael beheikhal YHWH, ka'asher, diber YHWH.
And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
14.
וְהִגְלָה אֶת-כָּל-יְרוּשָׁלִַם וְאֶת-כָּל-הַשָּׂרִים וְאֵת כָּל-גִּבּוֹרֵי הַחַיִל, עשרה עֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים גּוֹלֶה, וְכָל-הֶחָרָשׁ, וְהַמַּסְגֵּר: לֹא נִשְׁאַר, זוּלַת דַּלַּת עַם-הָאָרֶץ.
vehiglah et-kol-yerushalayim ve'et-kol-hassarim ve'et kol-giborei hakhayil, aseret alafim goleh, ve'khal-hekharash, vehamasger: lo nish'ar, zulat dallat am-ha'aretz.
And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths; none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.
15.
וַיֶּגֶל אֶת-יְהוֹיָכִין, בָּבֶלָה; וְאֶת-אֵם הַמֶּלֶךְ וְאֶת-נְשֵׁי הַמֶּלֶךְ וְאֶת-סָרִיסָיו, וְאֵת אולי אֵילֵי הָאָרֶץ, הוֹלִיךְ גּוֹלָה מִירוּשָׁלִַם, בָּבֶלָה.
vayegel et-yehoyakhin bavelah ve'et em hamelekh ve'et neshei hamelekh ve'et sarisav ve'et ulay eylei ha'aretz holikh golah mirushalayim bavelah
And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon; and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his officers, and the chief men of the land, carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
16.
וְאֵת כָּל-אַנְשֵׁי הַחַיִל שִׁבְעַת אֲלָפִים, וְהֶחָרָשׁ וְהַמַּסְגֵּר אֶלֶף--הַכֹּל, גִּבּוֹרִים עֹשֵׂי מִלְחָמָה; וַיְבִיאֵם מֶלֶךְ-בָּבֶל גּוֹלָה, בָּבֶלָה.
ve'et kol-anshei hahayil shiv'at alafim vehekharash vehamasger elef hakol giborim osei milkhamah vayvi'em melekh-bavel golah bavelah
And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths a thousand, all of them strong and apt for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
17.
וַיַּמְלֵךְ מֶלֶךְ-בָּבֶל אֶת-מַתַּנְיָה דֹדוֹ, תַּחְתָּיו; וַיַּסֵּב אֶת-שְׁמוֹ, צִדְקִיָּהוּ.
vayamlekh melekh-bavel et-mattanyah dodoh takhtav vayasev et-shmo tzidkiyahu
And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his father's brother king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
18.
בֶּן-עֶשְׂרִים וְאַחַת שָׁנָה, צִדְקִיָּהוּ בְמָלְכוֹ, וְאַחַת עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ, חמיטל חֲמוּטַל בַּת-יִרְמְיָהוּ מִלִּבְנָה.
ben-esrim ve'akhat shanah tzidkiyahu ve'malkho ve'akhat esreh shanah malakh birushalayim veshem immo khamutal bat-yirmeyahu millivnah
Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
19.
וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה, כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה, יְהוֹיָקִים.
vaya'as ha'ra, be'einei YHWH, kekhol asher-asah, Yehoyakim.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
20.
כִּי עַל-אַף יְהוָה, הָיְתָה בִירוּשָׁלִַם וּבִיהוּדָה, עַד-הִשְׁלִכוֹ אֹתָם, מֵעַל פָּנָיו; וַיִּמְרֹד צִדְקִיָּהוּ, בְּמֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל.
ki al-af YHWH, hayetah virushalayim uviyudah, ad-hishliko otam, me'al panav; vayimrod Tzidkiyahu, bemelekh Bavel.
For through the anger of the LORD did it come to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until He had cast them out from His presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
