וַיִּקְחוּ, עַם-הָאָרֶץ, אֶת-יְהוֹאָחָז, בֶּן-יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ; וַיַּמְלִיכֻהוּ תַחַת-אָבִיו, בִּירוּשָׁלִָם.
vayikhu, am-haaretz, et-yehoakhaz, ben-yoshiyahu; vayamlikhuhu takhat-aviv, birushalayim.
Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.
2.
בֶּן-שָׁלוֹשׁ וְעֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה, יוֹאָחָז בְּמָלְכוֹ; וּשְׁלֹשָׁה חֳדָשִׁים, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם.
ben-shalosh ve'esrim shanah, Yo'akhaz bemalkho; ushloshah khodashim, malakh birushalayim.
Joahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.

וַיְסִירֵהוּ מֶלֶךְ-מִצְרַיִם, בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וַיַּעֲנֹשׁ, אֶת-הָאָרֶץ, מֵאָה כִכַּר-כֶּסֶף, וְכִכַּר זָהָב.
vaysirehu melekh-mitsrayim, birushalayim; vayya'anosh, et-ha'aretz, me'ah kikkar-kesef, vekikkar zahav.
And the king of Egypt deposed him at Jerusalem, and fined the land a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.

וַיַּמְלֵךְ מֶלֶךְ-מִצְרַיִם אֶת-אֶלְיָקִים אָחִיו, עַל-יְהוּדָה וִירוּשָׁלִַם, וַיַּסֵּב אֶת-שְׁמוֹ, יְהוֹיָקִים; וְאֶת-יוֹאָחָז אָחִיו לָקַח נְכוֹ, וַיְבִיאֵהוּ מִצְרָיְמָה.
vayyamlekh melekh-mitsrayim et-Elyakim akhio, al-Yehudah viyrushalayim, vayyasseb et-shemo, Yehoyakim; ve'et-Yo'akhaz akhio lakakh Nekho, vayvi'ehu mitsraymah.
And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Neco took Joahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.

בֶּן-עֶשְׂרִים וְחָמֵשׁ שָׁנָה, יְהוֹיָקִים בְּמָלְכוֹ, וְאַחַת עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו.
ben-esrim vekhamesh shanah, Yehoyakim bemalkho, ve'akhat esreh shanah, malakh birushalayim; vayya'as hara, be'einei YHWH Elohav.
Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.

עָלָיו עָלָה, נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל; וַיַּאַסְרֵהוּ, בַּנְחֻשְׁתַּיִם, לְהֹלִיכוֹ, בָּבֶלָה.
Alav alah, nevukhadnetzar melekh bavel; vaya'asrehu, bannkhushtayim, leholikho, bavelah.
Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.
7.
וּמִכְּלֵי בֵּית יְהוָה, הֵבִיא נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּר לְבָבֶל; וַיִּתְּנֵם בְּהֵיכָלוֹ, בְּבָבֶל.
umikhlei beit YHWH, hevi nevukhadnetzar levavel; vayittenem beheykhalo, bevavel.
Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
8.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יְהוֹיָקִים וְתֹעֲבֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה, וְהַנִּמְצָא עָלָיו--הִנָּם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר מַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, וִיהוּדָה; וַיִּמְלֹךְ יְהוֹיָכִין בְּנוֹ, תַּחְתָּיו.
veyeter divrei yehoyakim veto'avotav asher-asah, vehanimtza alav--hinnam ketuvim al-sefer malkhei yisrael, vihudah; vayimlokh yehoyakhin beno, takhtav.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah; and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

בֶּן-שְׁמוֹנֶה שָׁנִים, יְהוֹיָכִין בְּמָלְכוֹ, וּשְׁלֹשָׁה חֳדָשִׁים וַעֲשֶׂרֶת יָמִים, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה.
ben-shmoneh shanim, yehoyakhin bemalkho, ushloshah khodashim va'aseret yamim, malakh birushalayim; vaya'as hara, be'einei YHWH.
Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
10.
וְלִתְשׁוּבַת הַשָּׁנָה, שָׁלַח הַמֶּלֶךְ נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּר, וַיְבִאֵהוּ בָבֶלָה, עִם-כְּלֵי חֶמְדַּת בֵּית-יְהוָה; וַיַּמְלֵךְ אֶת-צִדְקִיָּהוּ אָחִיו, עַל-יְהוּדָה וִירוּשָׁלִָם.
velitshuvat hashana, shalach hamelekh nevukhadnetzar, vayvi'ehu vavelah, im-klei khemdat beit-YHWH; vayamlekh et-tzidkiyahu achiv, al-yehuda viyrushalayim.
And at the return of the year king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.
11.
בֶּן-עֶשְׂרִים וְאַחַת שָׁנָה, צִדְקִיָּהוּ בְמָלְכוֹ; וְאַחַת עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה, מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם.
ben-esrim ve'achat shana, tzidkiyahu ve'malkho; ve'achat esrei shana, malakh biyrushalayim.
Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem;
12.
וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע, בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו: לֹא נִכְנַע, מִלִּפְנֵי יִרְמְיָהוּ הַנָּבִיא--מִפִּי יְהוָה.
vaya'as hara, be'einei YHWH elohav: lo nikhna, millifnei yirmiyahu hanavi--mippi YHWH.
and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God; he humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the LORD.
13.
וְגַם בַּמֶּלֶךְ נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּר, מָרָד, אֲשֶׁר הִשְׁבִּיעוֹ, בֵּאלֹהִים; וַיֶּקֶשׁ אֶת-עָרְפּוֹ, וַיְאַמֵּץ אֶת-לְבָבוֹ, מִשּׁוּב, אֶל-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
vegam bamelekh nevukhadnetzar, marad, asher hishbi'o, be'elohim; vayekhesh et-arpo, vayametz et-levavo, mishuv, el-YHWH elohei Yisrael.
And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God; but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto the LORD, the God of Israel.
14.
גַּם כָּל-שָׂרֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהָעָם, הִרְבּוּ למעול- לִמְעָל- מַעַל, כְּכֹל, תֹּעֲבוֹת הַגּוֹיִם; וַיְטַמְּאוּ אֶת-בֵּית יְהוָה, אֲשֶׁר הִקְדִּישׁ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם.
gam kol-sarei hakohanim veha'am hirbu lim'ol- ma'al kekhol to'avot hagoyim vayetam'u et-beit YHWH asher hikdish biYerushalayim.
Moreover all the chiefs of the priests, and the people, transgressed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations; and they polluted the house of the LORD which He had hallowed in Jerusalem.
15.
וַיִּשְׁלַח יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵיהֶם עֲלֵיהֶם, בְּיַד מַלְאָכָיו--הַשְׁכֵּם וְשָׁלוֹחַ: כִּי-חָמַל עַל-עַמּוֹ, וְעַל-מְעוֹנוֹ.
vayishlach YHWH Elohei avotehem alehem beyad mal'akhav hashkem veshaloach ki-chamal al-ammo ve'al-me'ono.
And the LORD, the God of their fathers, sent to them by His messengers, sending betimes and often; because He had compassion on His people, and on His dwelling-place;
16.
וַיִּהְיוּ מַלְעִבִים, בְּמַלְאֲכֵי הָאֱלֹהִים, וּבוֹזִים דְּבָרָיו, וּמִתַּעְתְּעִים בִּנְבִאָיו: עַד עֲלוֹת חֲמַת-יְהוָה, בְּעַמּוֹ--עַד-לְאֵין מַרְפֵּא.
vayihyu mal'im bemal'akhei haElohim uvozim devarav umitat'im binvia'av ad alot chamat-YHWH be'ammo ad-le'ein marpe.
but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy.
17.
וַיַּעַל עֲלֵיהֶם אֶת-מֶלֶךְ כשדיים כַּשְׂדִּים, וַיַּהֲרֹג בַּחוּרֵיהֶם בַּחֶרֶב בְּבֵית מִקְדָּשָׁם, וְלֹא חָמַל עַל-בָּחוּר וּבְתוּלָה, זָקֵן וְיָשֵׁשׁ: הַכֹּל, נָתַן בְּיָדוֹ.
vaya'al alehem et-melekh kasdim vayaharog bachurehem b<bos>9cher
Therefore He brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man or hoary-headed; He gave them all into his hand.
18.
וְכֹל כְּלֵי בֵּית הָאֱלֹהִים, הַגְּדֹלִים וְהַקְּטַנִּים, וְאֹצְרוֹת בֵּית יְהוָה, וְאֹצְרוֹת הַמֶּלֶךְ וְשָׂרָיו--הַכֹּל, הֵבִיא בָבֶל.
ve'chol kelei beit ha'Elohim, hagedolim vehaqetannim, ve'otzorot beit YHWH, ve'otzorot hamelekh vesarav--hakol, hevi Bavel.
And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.
19.
וַיִּשְׂרְפוּ, אֶת-בֵּית הָאֱלֹהִים, וַיְנַתְּצוּ, אֵת חוֹמַת יְרוּשָׁלִָם; וְכָל-אַרְמְנוֹתֶיהָ שָׂרְפוּ בָאֵשׁ, וְכָל-כְּלֵי מַחֲמַדֶּיהָ לְהַשְׁחִית.
vayyisrefu, et-beit ha'Elohim, vayynattetsu, et khomat Yerushalayim; ve'khal-armenoteyha sarfu va'esh, ve'khal-kelei makhamadeyha lehashkhit.
And they burnt the house of God, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.
20.
וַיֶּגֶל הַשְּׁאֵרִית מִן-הַחֶרֶב, אֶל-בָּבֶל; וַיִּהְיוּ-לוֹ וּלְבָנָיו לַעֲבָדִים, עַד-מְלֹךְ מַלְכוּת פָּרָס.
vayyegel hash'eerit min-hakherev, el-Bavel; vayyihyu-lo ulevanav la'avadim, ad-melokh malkhut Paras.
And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia;
21.
לְמַלֹּאות דְּבַר-יְהוָה בְּפִי יִרְמְיָהוּ, עַד-רָצְתָה הָאָרֶץ אֶת-שַׁבְּתוֹתֶיהָ: כָּל-יְמֵי הָשַּׁמָּה שָׁבָתָה, לְמַלֹּאות שִׁבְעִים שָׁנָה.
lemallot devar-YHWH befi Yirmeyahu, ad-ratztetah ha'aretz et-shabboteyha: kol-yemei hashamma shavatah, lemallot shiv'im shanah.
to fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had been paid her sabbaths; for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.
22.
וּבִשְׁנַת אַחַת, לְכוֹרֶשׁ מֶלֶךְ פָּרַס, לִכְלוֹת דְּבַר-יְהוָה, בְּפִי יִרְמְיָהוּ--הֵעִיר יְהוָה, אֶת-רוּחַ כּוֹרֶשׁ מֶלֶךְ-פָּרַס, וַיַּעֲבֶר-קוֹל בְּכָל-מַלְכוּתוֹ, וְגַם-בְּמִכְתָּב לֵאמֹר.
ubishenat achat, lekoresh melekh paras, likhlot devar-YHWH, befi yirmeyahu--he'ir YHWH, et-ruakh koresh melekh-paras, vaya'aver-qol bekhol-malkhuto, vegam-bemikhtav lemor.
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying:
23.
כֹּה-אָמַר כּוֹרֶשׁ מֶלֶךְ פָּרַס, כָּל-מַמְלְכוֹת הָאָרֶץ נָתַן לִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְהוּא-פָקַד עָלַי לִבְנוֹת-לוֹ בַיִת, בִּירוּשָׁלִַם אֲשֶׁר בִּיהוּדָה: מִי-בָכֶם מִכָּל-עַמּוֹ, יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו עִמּוֹ--וְיָעַל.
koh-amar koresh melekh paras, kol-mamlekhot ha'aretz natan li YHWH Elohei hashamayim, vehu-faqad alay libnot-lo bayit, birushalayim asher bihudah: mi-vakhem mikkal-ammo, YHWH Elohav immo--veyal.
'Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD, the God of heaven, given me; and He hath charged me to build Him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whosoever there is among you of all His people--the LORD his God be with him--let him go up.'
