1.
וַיְהִי, אַחֲרֵי-כֵן, וַיַּךְ דָּוִיד אֶת-פְּלִשְׁתִּים, וַיַּכְנִיעֵם; וַיִּקַּח אֶת-גַּת וּבְנֹתֶיהָ, מִיַּד פְּלִשְׁתִּים.
vayehi acharei-khen veyak David et-pelishtim vayakhni'em vayikach et-Gat uvenoteha miyad pelishtim.
And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
2.
וַיַּךְ, אֶת-מוֹאָב; וַיִּהְיוּ מוֹאָב עֲבָדִים לְדָוִיד, נֹשְׂאֵי מִנְחָה.
vayak et-Mo'av vayihyu Mo'av avadim leDavid nose'e minkhah.
And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought presents.

וַיַּךְ דָּוִיד אֶת-הֲדַדְעֶזֶר מֶלֶךְ-צוֹבָה, חֲמָתָה, בְּלֶכְתּוֹ, לְהַצִּיב יָדוֹ בִּנְהַר-פְּרָת.
vayak David et-Hadad'ezer melekh-Tzovah khamata belekhto lehatziv yado binhar-Perat.
And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah by Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion at the river Euphrates.

וַיִּלְכֹּד דָּוִיד מִמֶּנּוּ אֶלֶף רֶכֶב, וְשִׁבְעַת אֲלָפִים פָּרָשִׁים, וְעֶשְׂרִים אֶלֶף, אִישׁ רַגְלִי; וַיְעַקֵּר דָּוִיד אֶת-כָּל-הָרֶכֶב, וַיּוֹתֵר מִמֶּנּוּ מֵאָה רָכֶב.
vayilkod David mimenu elef rekheV veshiv'at alafim parashim ve'esrim elef ish ragli ve'eya'ker David et-kol-harekhev vayoter mimenu me'ah rakhev.
And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots.

וַיָּבֹא, אֲרַם דַּרְמֶשֶׂק, לַעְזוֹר, לַהֲדַדְעֶזֶר מֶלֶךְ צוֹבָה; וַיַּךְ דָּוִיד בַּאֲרָם, עֶשְׂרִים-וּשְׁנַיִם אֶלֶף אִישׁ.
vayavo aram darmeshek la'azor lahadad'ezer melekh tzovah vayakh david ba'aram esrim-ushnayim elef ish.
And when the Arameans of Damascus came to succour Hadarezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Arameans two and twenty thousand men.

וַיָּשֶׂם דָּוִיד, בַּאֲרַם דַּרְמֶשֶׂק, וַיְהִי אֲרָם לְדָוִיד, עֲבָדִים נֹשְׂאֵי מִנְחָה; וַיּוֹשַׁע יְהוָה לְדָוִיד, בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר הָלָךְ.
vayashem david ba'aram darmeshek vayhi aram ledavid avadim nos'ei minkhah vayoshia YHWH ledavid bekhol asher halakh.
Then David put [garrisons] in Aram Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, and brought presents. And the LORD gave victory to David whithersoever he went.
7.
וַיִּקַּח דָּוִיד, אֵת שִׁלְטֵי הַזָּהָב, אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ, עַל עַבְדֵי הֲדַדְעָזֶר; וַיְבִיאֵם, יְרוּשָׁלִָם.
vayikakh david et shiltei hazahav asher hayu al avdei hadad'ezer vayvi'em Yerushalayim.
And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8.
וּמִטִּבְחַת וּמִכּוּן עָרֵי הֲדַדְעֶזֶר, לָקַח דָּוִיד נְחֹשֶׁת רַבָּה מְאֹד; בָּהּ עָשָׂה שְׁלֹמֹה, אֶת-יָם הַנְּחֹשֶׁת וְאֶת-הָעַמּוּדִים, וְאֵת, כְּלֵי הַנְּחֹשֶׁת.
umitbhat umikhun arei hadad'ezer lakakh david nehoshet rabah me'od bah asha shlomo et-yam hanehoshet ve'et-ha'amudim ve'et kelei hanehoshet.
And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadarezer, David took very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
9.
וַיִּשְׁמַע, תֹּעוּ מֶלֶךְ חֲמָת: כִּי הִכָּה דָוִיד, אֶת-כָּל-חֵיל הֲדַדְעֶזֶר מֶלֶךְ-צוֹבָה.
vayishma to'u melekh khamat ki hikah david et-kol-kheil hadad'ezer melekh-tzovah.
And when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah,

וַיִּשְׁלַח אֶת-הֲדוֹרָם-בְּנוֹ אֶל-הַמֶּלֶךְ-דָּוִיד לשאול- לִשְׁאָל- לוֹ לְשָׁלוֹם וּלְבָרְכוֹ, עַל אֲשֶׁר נִלְחַם בַּהֲדַדְעֶזֶר וַיַּכֵּהוּ--כִּי-אִישׁ מִלְחֲמוֹת תֹּעוּ, הָיָה הֲדַדְעָזֶר; וְכֹל, כְּלֵי זָהָב וָכֶסֶף--וּנְחֹשֶׁת.
vayshilakh et-hadoram-beno el-hamelekh-david lish'ol- lish'al- lo leshalom ulevarakho al asher nilkham bahadad'ezer vayakehu- ki-ish milkhamot to'u hayah hadad'ezervekhol keli zahav vakhesefu-nekhoshet.
he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to salute him, and to bless him--because he had fought against Hadarezer and smitten him; for Hadarezer had wars with Tou--and [he had with him] all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
11.
גַּם-אֹתָם, הִקְדִּישׁ הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּוִיד לַיהוָה, עִם-הַכֶּסֶף וְהַזָּהָב, אֲשֶׁר נָשָׂא מִכָּל-הַגּוֹיִם--מֵאֱדוֹם וּמִמּוֹאָב וּמִבְּנֵי עַמּוֹן, וּמִפְּלִשְׁתִּים וּמֵעֲמָלֵק.
gam-otam hikdish hamelekh david layhwh im-hakhesef vehazahav asher nasa mikkhal-hagoyim-me'edom umimoav umibnei ammon umiflishtim ume'amalek.
These also did king David dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
12.
וְאַבְשַׁי בֶּן-צְרוּיָה, הִכָּה אֶת-אֱדוֹם בְּגֵיא הַמֶּלַח, שְׁמוֹנָה עָשָׂר, אָלֶף.
ve'avshay ben-tzeruyah hikah et-edom begey hamelakh shmonah ashar alef.
Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah smote of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand.
13.
וַיָּשֶׂם בֶּאֱדוֹם נְצִיבִים, וַיִּהְיוּ כָל-אֱדוֹם עֲבָדִים לְדָוִיד; וַיּוֹשַׁע יְהוָה אֶת-דָּוִיד, בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר הָלָךְ.
vayasem be'edom netzivim, vayihyu khol-edom avadim ledavid; vayosha YHWH et-david, bekhol asher halakh.
And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the LORD gave victory to David whithersoever he went.
14.
וַיִּמְלֹךְ דָּוִיד, עַל-כָּל-יִשְׂרָאֵל; וַיְהִי, עֹשֶׂה מִשְׁפָּט וּצְדָקָה--לְכָל-עַמּוֹ.
vayimlokh david, al-kol-yisrael; vayhi, oseh mishpat utzedakah--lekhol-ammo.
And David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness unto all his people.
15.
וְיוֹאָב בֶּן-צְרוּיָה, עַל-הַצָּבָא; וִיהוֹשָׁפָט בֶּן-אֲחִילוּד, מַזְכִּיר.
veyoav ben-tzruyah, al-hatzava; vihoshafat ben-akhilud, mazkir.
And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder.
16.
וְצָדוֹק בֶּן-אֲחִיטוּב וַאֲבִימֶלֶךְ בֶּן-אֶבְיָתָר, כֹּהֲנִים; וְשַׁוְשָׁא, סוֹפֵר.
vetzadok ben-akhituv va'avimelekh ben-evyatar, kohanim; veshavsha, sofer.
And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe;
17.
וּבְנָיָהוּ, בֶּן-יְהוֹיָדָע, עַל-הַכְּרֵתִי, וְהַפְּלֵתִי; וּבְנֵי-דָוִיד הָרִאשֹׁנִים, לְיַד הַמֶּלֶךְ.
uveNayahu, ben-Yehoyada, 'al-hakereti, vehapeleti; uveney-David harishonim, leyad hamelekh.
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.
